GCT Semiconductor (GCTS) said Wednesday it is collaborating with Iridium Communications (IRDM) to integrate the Iridium NTN Direct service into GCT's GDM7243SL chipset.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The parties will develop a new Iridium network-enabled narrowband Internet of Things chipset based on requirements for 3GPP Release 19, GCT said.

The NB-IoT chipset will be developed for 5G Advanced that will merge satellite technologies into 5G, the company added.
