Health care stocks were mixed pre-bell Monday, with the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) 0.7% lower and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) up 0.2%.
Pfizer (PFE) said it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Metsera (MTSR) for $47.50 per share in cash, valuing the company at about $4.9 billion. Metsera shares were up more than 61% premarket.
Premier (PINC) stock was up more than 8% after the company said it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an affiliate of Patient Square Capital in a transaction valued at $2.6 billion.
Ionis Pharmaceuticals (IONS) shares were up more than 2% after the company said the latest results from a study of zilganersen marked the first time that an investigational medicine showed a positive disease-modifying impact in Alexander disease.
