DoorDash (DASH) said Tuesday it launched an autonomous delivery robot called Dot for neighborhood deliveries and the SmartScale tool to help restaurants enhance order accuracy.
The company also said that beginning Oct. 1, almost 2,700 Kroger (KR) stores will launch on DoorDash, allowing clients to gain access to Kroger's full grocery products.
The Dot delivery robot, which was developed in-house at DoorDash Labs, will be able to travel on bike lanes, roads, and sidewalks at up to 20 miles per hour, the company said.
The delivery robot is already operating in the Phoenix metro area in Arizona, with an early access program in Tempe and Mesa, the company said.
DoorDash said it is also launching the SmartScale, which was also developed by DoorDash Labs to ensure that orders match expected contents before leaving the kitchen.
Shares of DoorDash were up more than 3% in recent trading Tuesday.
