Amazon.com (AMZN) plans to cut a "significant" number of jobs in its video-game division, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing an internal email to staff.
The company will scale back work on big-budget titles, resulting in "significant role reductions in our studios in Irvine and San Diego, as well as our central publishing team," Steve Boom, vice president of Audio, Twitch, and Games, said in the email, according to the report.
Earlier Tuesday, Amazon disclosed plans to eliminate 14,000 corporate jobs as part of a broader effort to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
