Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) forecasts more severe chip supply shortage in 2027, with the trend continuing through 2028, executive vice president of memory business Jaejune Kim said in a Thursday conference call.

The company has secured multi-year supply deals with the top five global data center customers and is in final stages of talks with five unnamed major companies, Kim said in the call discussing second-quarter results.

The long-term deals are based on five-year terms and will make up 60% to 70% of the company's long-term total capacity, the executive said.
