Raymond James analyst Pavel Molchanov upgraded the stock to strong buy from outperform, saying in a note to clients on Wednesday that the stock’s underperformance was caused by misguided concerns.\n“Sunnova’s business model relies on vast amounts of external capital: securitizations and tax equity funds. With economic reopening and resulting optimism having modestly pushed up benchmark interest rates year-to-date, this has led to the erroneous perception that Sunnova (and its close peer Sunrun) are facing structural headwinds vis-a-vis the cost of capital,” the note said.\nInvestors are underestimating the desire in the debt market for solar energy deals, Raymond James said,\n“In fact, Sunnova has been getting better financing terms in 2021 as compared to one and two years ago.
