More than anything, investors are buying it now as a speculative investment.\nThe price was sitting at $37,100 as of Friday afternoon and has been struggling to rebound to its May highs after Tesla CEO Elon Musk began moving crypto markets, sending bitcoin lower. The cryptocurrency is the largest by market cap, which is $693 billion as of Friday, according to Coin Metrics.\nHistorically, bitcoin’s demand has been driven largely by retail investors, but that narrative changed late last year as big investors and institutions began reconsidering their positions on it. Bitcoin has always and continues to suffer from reputational issues that are hard for it to shake, mostly because of its newness and therefore the lack of data or history to support its raison d’être.\nIf you’ve gotten caught in the confusion and misinformation around bitcoin, here are the key things to focus on if you’re considering bitcoin for your portfolio.\nBull case\nBitcoin, like gold, is a non-sovereign store of value that people can use to store wealth outside of the U.S. dollar system. It’s “digital gold” as its proponents often say, which is attractive given the increasing collective concern about inflation. More than that, it has the potential, once the market structure evolves, to serve as digital cash both domestically and across borders.\n“These are large markets, and you get them almost as a free call option on the ‘digital gold’ thesis,” said Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at Bitwise Asset Management. It’s also an attractive asset from a portfolio construction perspective, he added, because it gives investors high potential returns, low correlations to stocks and bonds, and liquidity in one asset.\n“The bull case can be seen when you look at the price trend, volume, and retail and institutional adoption,” said Max Schatzow, an attorney at Stark & Stark, where he advises investment advisers and broker-dealers on a range of financial regulatory matters. “We already witnessed the price north of $60,000 so with current prices, it would seem like there is room for growth based solely on historical prices. If demand continues to rise, that price should probably follow.”\nBear case\nBitcoin is high risk with potentially high reward or complete wipeouts that go to zero, said Jason Pride, CIO of private wealth at Glenmede. For that reason, his firm doesn’t recommend investors include it in their portfolio, despite some of the high returns the market has seen from it. Many point to bitcoin as being a diversifying non-correlated asset, but Pride noted that with every equity decline the market has seen, bitcoin has declined dramatically in tandem with it.\n“If the Fed were to pull back on stimulus, a majority of risk assets would decline,” he said. “If we were to have some extraordinary event, an economic downturn, bitcoin would probably be suffering right alongside equities. It did during the pandemic and during the December 2018 correction, which was a market liquidity event.”\nPlus, major exchanges and insurers might not have enough reserves to cover all their cryptocurrency activity, Schatzow said.\nBiggest risks\nVolatility– Bitcoin’s price suffers from massive swings due to its speculative nature and developing market infrastructure. While less volatility is necessary for it to prove itself a more reliable asset, it will always be somewhat volatile because of its perfect inelasticity, meaning the quantity of the bitcoin supply (which, again, is set at 21 million) doesn’t change in response to a move in the price of bitcoin. However, as the market structure continues to improve and mature price volatility should calm down.\n“Investors should think of bitcoin as a long-term buy-and-hold investment,” said Hougan. “Those who try to speculate on the short-term price movements of bitcoin are liable to get hurt.”\nLack of regulation– Cryptocurrencies are still so young that regulators still don’t fully understand which agencies should regulate them or how, since crypto also doesn’t fit perfectly into existing frameworks. For example, because bitcoin and other digital assets aren’t securities, they aren’t available on most custodial platforms. Custodians and other regulated financial firms can’t accommodate the rising crypto demand until there’s more regulatory clarity, which could slow industry growth. “More regulation will significantly help boost bitcoin’s adoption, to a point,” Hougan said. “But regulators could over-reach or enact poorly designed regulations that would hurt growth, and that is a risk worth monitoring.”\n“The continued lack of regulation and enforcement of intermediaries, promoters, and institutional traders is a disservice for bitcoin and its potential growth and acceptance,” Schatzow added. “Some people think regulation will hurt its prospects, but without a viable regulator of market participants, the market is susceptible to manipulation.”\nOther digital assets– It may have taken bitcoin more than a decade to be taken seriously by establishment institutions, but as it gains momentum, developers are working hard cryptocurrencies we’ve never even heard of that might become more dominant than bitcoin for one reason or another. “Development of alternative digital assets, currencies, and technologies are happening at supersonic speeds,” Schatzow said. “No one can predict whether Bitcoin will be the choice digital currency or store of value for the future. If people collectively decide that another digital currency or store of value is better, it could hurt bitcoin’s prospects. It seems remote now given Bitcoin’s staying power, but this is a nascent industry and don’t discount what happened to AOL.”\nPortfolio sizing\nAdvisors say bitcoin should be a complementary play, not a competitive one. Having an outsized position in bitcoin carries a lot of risks and investors need to size their allocation accordingly. ”[Bitcoin] can fall 50% in a very short period of time,” Hougan said. “If you have 1% to 5% of your portfolio invested in bitcoin, that’s not so bad. But if you have 50% of your portfolio invested in bitcoin, that can be very, very tough. Position sizing is key.”","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":256,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":134575387,"gmtCreate":1622251215449,"gmtModify":1631891838443,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Awesome!","listText":"Awesome!","text":"Awesome!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/134575387","repostId":"2138488761","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2138488761","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622214949,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2138488761?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-28 23:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Costco is reopening its popular food courts and bringing back churros and free samples in bid to juice profits","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2138488761","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Costco's popular, money-making food courts are preparing to enter post-pandemic life as the warehous","content":"
Costco's popular, money-making food courts are preparing to enter post-pandemic life as the warehouse retailer looks to keep sales and profits hot this year.

\"I'm pleased to report that our food courts are also coming back over the next few weeks in a bigger way. Last March, again in 2020 as the pandemic took hold, we pared back menu basically to hotdogs and pizza and soda and smoothies, and we eliminated all seating, those takeout only. We began several weeks ago adding back tables and seating and — at a handful of outdoor food courts in a few states,\" Costco CFO Richard Galanti told analysts on an earnings call Thursday evening.

Galanti explained Costco is bringing back popular menu items while also reconfiguring seating arrangements for diners.

\"Over the past few months, we've also added back a few more food items, including bringing back a new and improved churros, which will be at all U.S. locations by the 4th of July, and adding a high-end soft ice cream to replace our frozen yogurt. And by June 7, we plan to have tables in seating back at most locations, but with more physical separation, tables of 4 instead of 6 and 8 and about half the seating capacity as we had before. We began several weeks ago adding back tables and seating and — at a handful of outdoor food courts in a few states,\" Costco CFO Richard Galanti told analysts on an earnings call Thursday evening.Galanti explained Costco is bringing back popular menu items while also reconfiguring seating arrangements for diners.\"Over the past few months, we've also added back a few more food items, including bringing back a new and improved churros, which will be at all U.S. locations by the 4th of July, and adding a high-end soft ice cream to replace our frozen yogurt. And by June 7, we plan to have tables in seating back at most locations, but with more physical separation, tables of 4 instead of 6 and 8 and about half the seating capacity as we had before. The Vacation Club Villa at the Grand Californian will reopen on May 2, and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel will reopen at a later date.\nAll theme parks in California have been closed due to Covid-related restrictions for the past year. While guidelines in other states, such as Florida, allowed parks to reopen with limited capacity, California’s rules have kept theme parks large and small shuttered.\nHowever, new state guidance permits amusement parks to reopen beginning April 1 with 15% to 35% capacity depending on the prevalence of the virus in the community. Masks and other health precautions will be required. Chapek said the two parks will operate at around 15% capacity to start.\nCalifornia is reporting just under 2,900 new Covid-19 cases per day, based on a weekly average, a near 32% decline compared with a week ago, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. The rate of new Covid cases has been on the decline as more people have been getting vaccinated. With ramp-ups in supply and access, on average about 2.4 million people are getting vaccinated daily in the U.S.\nOrange County, where Disneyland and California Adventure are located, is seeing four new cases a day per 100,000 residents. At its peak, in mid-January, the county saw 118 new cases a day per 100,000 people.\nThe shutdown last year led Disney to lay off tens of thousands of workers and slashed an important source of revenue for the media company. The parks, experiences and consumer products segment accounted for 37% of the company’s $69.6 billion in total revenue in 2019, or around $26.2 billion.\nA year later, revenue shrank to $16.5 billion, or around 25% of the company’s $65.4 billion in total revenue.\nDuring the company’s fiscal first-quarter earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Christine McCarthy said that for the parks that have been open during the pandemic, the company was able to make “a net incremental positive contribution” from the guests who visited despite reduced capacity levels. This means that revenue exceeded the variable costs associated with the opening, she explained.\nAs parks expand capacity and reopen, there will be some level of social distancing and mask-wearing for the rest of the year.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":467,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":362554375,"gmtCreate":1614651784297,"gmtModify":1703479366811,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Exciting news","listText":"Exciting news","text":"Exciting news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/362554375","repostId":"2116856399","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":460,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":366361595,"gmtCreate":1614396192817,"gmtModify":1703477266111,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good results ","listText":"Good results ","text":"Good results","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/366361595","repostId":"2114371822","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":189,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360444982,"gmtCreate":1613970900346,"gmtModify":1634551710646,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wonder how things might turn out","listText":"Wonder how things might turn out","text":"Wonder how things might turn out","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360444982","repostId":"1176686506","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":103,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":384979329,"gmtCreate":1613610591461,"gmtModify":1634552963626,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Market is overheated","listText":"Market is overheated","text":"Market is overheated","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/384979329","repostId":"2112854988","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2112854988","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1613604679,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2112854988?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-02-18 07:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"GLOBAL MARKETS-Asian markets eye muted start on economic hopes, pandemic fears","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2112854988","media":"Reuters","summary":"By Pete Schroeder Feb 18 (Reuters) - Asian markets were set for sideways trade at Thursday's open ","content":"

By Pete Schroeder

Feb 18 (Reuters) - Asian markets were set for sideways trade at Thursday's open as lingering pandemic concerns pushed against stronger economic data, and with little firm direction from Wall Street.

Australia's benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 0.1% in early trading, while Japan's Nikkei 225 futures were up 0.05%. The euro was little changed at $1.21215 after climbing 0.6% last week. The dollar rose 0.2% to 105.09 yen , recovering from some of the previous week's 0.4% loss. Many financial markets in Asia remained closed on Monday for Lunar New Year, with the United States also out for Presidents Day. There has been a tug-of-war over the dollar's direction this year with some market participants expecting it to strengthen as the U.S. economy outperforms peers including Europe. Others view the U.S. recovery as a key driver in a global reflation narrative that should lift riskier assets at the dollar's expense. \"The U.S. outperformance story ... has a lot further to run thanks to fiscal stimulus and faster vaccine deployment,\" Westpac strategists wrote in a client note. \"But ongoing aggressive U.S. reflationary fiscal and monetary policy settings will leave DXY on a sustained medium-term bear trend,\" the note said, referring to the dollar index. Bitcoin last traded at $48,772, little changed from the record high. It surged roughly 25% last week for its best performance since the turn of the year. ======================================================== Currency bid prices at 10:09AM (109 GMT)Description RIC Last U.S. Close Pct Change YTD Pct High Bid Low Bid Previous Change Session Euro/Dollar $1.2121 $1.2119 +0.02% -0.79% +1.2125 +1.2117Dollar/Yen 105.0320 104.9250 +0.17% +1.75% +105.1300 +105.0750Euro/Yen 127.31 127.14 +0.13% +0.31% +127.4500 +127.1800Dollar/Swiss 0.8921 0.8919 +0.03% +0.84% +0.8925 +0.8920Sterling/Dollar 1.3873 1.3852 +0.17% +1.56% +1.3876 +1.3863Dollar/Canadian 1.2686 1.2689 -0.02% -0.37% +1.2689 +1.2682Aussie/Dollar 0.7761 0.7760 +0.04% +0.92% +0.7769 +0.7760NZ 0.7220 0.7215 +0.10% +0.57% +0.7222 +0.7207Dollar/Dollar All spots Tokyo spots Europe spots Volatilities Tokyo Forex market info from BOJ <^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ World FX rates ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^>(Reporting by Kevin Buckland; Editing by Himani Sarkar)((Kevin.Buckland@thomsonreuters.com;))","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":211,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":386454051,"gmtCreate":1613263629373,"gmtModify":1634554083275,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good insights","listText":"Good insights","text":"Good insights","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/386454051","repostId":"2111778750","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":253,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":350911400,"gmtCreate":1616148388700,"gmtModify":1631891838455,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interesting","listText":"Interesting","text":"Interesting","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/350911400","repostId":"2120194720","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":500,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":134575387,"gmtCreate":1622251215449,"gmtModify":1631891838443,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Awesome!","listText":"Awesome!","text":"Awesome!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/134575387","repostId":"2138488761","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2138488761","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1622214949,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2138488761?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-28 23:15","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Costco is reopening its popular food courts and bringing back churros and free samples in bid to juice profits","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2138488761","media":"Yahoo Finance","summary":"Costco's popular, money-making food courts are preparing to enter post-pandemic life as the warehous","content":"
Costco's popular, money-making food courts are preparing to enter post-pandemic life as the warehouse retailer looks to keep sales and profits hot this year.

\"I'm pleased to report that our food courts are also coming back over the next few weeks in a bigger way. This means that revenue exceeded the variable costs associated with the opening, she explained.\nAs parks expand capacity and reopen, there will be some level of social distancing and mask-wearing for the rest of the year.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":467,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":360444982,"gmtCreate":1613970900346,"gmtModify":1634551710646,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wonder how things might turn out","listText":"Wonder how things might turn out","text":"Wonder how things might turn out","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/360444982","repostId":"1176686506","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":103,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":384979329,"gmtCreate":1613610591461,"gmtModify":1634552963626,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Market is overheated","listText":"Market is overheated","text":"Market is overheated","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/384979329","repostId":"2112854988","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":194,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":385823212,"gmtCreate":1613532784936,"gmtModify":1634553268073,"author":{"id":"3561776872020254","authorId":"3561776872020254","name":"Leeshirl","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/20a497757395d7a3d03c08d260f164ff","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3561776872020254","authorIdStr":"3561776872020254"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"To the moon","listText":"To the moon","text":"To the moon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/385823212","repostId":"2112683353","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2112683353","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Reuters.com brings you the latest news from around the world, covering breaking news in markets, business, politics, entertainment and technology","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Reuters","id":"1036604489","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/443ce19704621c837795676028cec868"},"pubTimestamp":1613522924,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2112683353?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-02-17 08:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"BRIEF-Elon Musk's SpaceX Raised $850 Million, Jumping Valuation To About $74 Billion - CNBC","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2112683353","media":"Reuters","summary":"Feb 16 (Reuters) - * ELON MUSK’S SPACEX RAISED $850 MILLION, JUMPING VALUATION TO ABOUT $74 BILLI","content":"

Feb 16 (Reuters) -

* ELON MUSK’S SPACEX RAISED $850 MILLION, JUMPING VALUATION TO ABOUT $74 BILLION - CNBC

* SPACEX RAISED THE NEW FUNDS AT $419.99 A SHARE - CNBC, CITING SOURCES

Source text:

((Reuters.Briefs@thomsonreuters.com;))

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
