expectations.</p><p>Exposure to U.S. growth and the impact from higher commodity prices are some of the criteria used by money managers from JPMorgan Asset Management to State Street Corp. Mexico, South Africa and Taiwan rank among the top choices as firms pare back their bullish bets for developing-nation assets, according to recent surveys.</p><p>“There is still meaningful scope to generate returns within EM as long as investors are able to differentiate,” said Tai Hui, chief Asia market strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management in Hong Kong.</p><p>Investor enthusiasm toward emerging-market assets has waned this year as Covid-19 infections engulf nations from India to Brazil while Treasury yields push higher amid rising price pressures. The MSCI Emerging Markets Index has slid almost 10% since its mid-February high and the Bloomberg Barclays EM Local Currency Government Bond Index is down 1.6% from its January peak.</p><p><b>U.S. Exposure</b></p><p>With a strong recovery in the world’s largest economy set to drive global growth this year, investors are looking for ways to piggy-back on that trend.</p><p>That makes Mexican, Taiwanese and South Korean equities attractive given their strong ties to the U.S., said Shaniel Ramjee, a senior investment manager at Pictet Asset Management in London, who helps manage $252 billion.</p><p>The Mexican stock benchmark has climbed 12% this year, easily beating the 1% rise in MSCI’s index of developing-nation shares. The South Korean and Taiwanese equivalents are also outperforming, though the latter saw a steep selloff last week amid jitters over a Covid-19 outbreak and pricey tech stocks.</p><p>Tech Dominance Haunts Taiwan in Global Selloff: Taking Stock</p><p><b>Commodity Surge</b></p><p>The connection to commodity prices is also boosting the Mexican peso, said Emily Weis, a macro strategist at State Street in Boston. A combination of stimulus measures, vaccine rollouts and supply shortages has pushed everything from copper to lumber and iron ore to multiyear highs or records.</p><p>“Improving commodity prices are still a net positive for EM commodities currencies given the sheer percentage of exports,” Weis said.</p><p>The Russian ruble and South African rand also stand to benefit from the commodities rebound, according to Pictet’s Ramjee. The rand is the top emerging-market currency year-to-date thanks in part to South Africa’s exports of metals like platinum and iron ore, while the ruble has benefited from Russia’s oil exposure.</p><p>But perhaps nowhere is the power of the commodity boom more on display than Brazil, where exports of soybeans and iron ore have boosted the real.</p><p>Other nations haven’t been so lucky. Currencies in Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Turkey -- countries with some of the biggest increases in virus infections globally -- are among the worst performers in emerging markets this year.</p><p><b>Yield Spike</b></p><p>Some investors say they’re sticking with local currency-denominated bonds that may be more insulated from American monetary policy.</p><p>“Local markets are becoming more attractive,” said Shamaila Khan, the head of emerging-market debt at AllianceBernstein in New York, singling out South African, Russian and Mexican local bonds as among the most appealing. “Selectively, we are finding value.”</p><p><b>Rate Calls</b></p><p>The People’s Bank of China added 100 billion yuan ($15.5 billion) of one-year funds with its medium-term lending facility on Monday, matching the amount coming due in a move that was expected by analysts. A closely-watched trial with Fortnite maker Epic Games over App Store policies kicks off next week.</p><p>“The App Store has been an economic miracle. Last year, the estimates are that there was over a half a trillion dollars of economic activity because of the store. And, so, this has been just an economic gamechanger for not only the United States, but several countries around the world. And, we’re going to go in and tell our story. And we’ll see where it goes. But, we’re confident,” Cook told CNBC.</p><p>Apple’s gross margin was also unusually elevated for the company. They had briefly doubled earlier in the session before falling back.</p>\n<p>Discovery stock has been in the news lately as all of its share classes have seen big moves. For much of 2021, Discovery has been on the rise amid excitement about its Discovery+ streaming service. Yet last week, Discovery got embroiled in the saga of amargin call that devastated a Wall Street hedge fund.</p>\n<p>What was surprising about Wednesday's move was that it only affected one of Discovery's share classes. Series A shares were up just 1.5%. Series C shares, which have a K at the end of their ticker symbol, gained just a fraction of a percent.</p>\n<p><b>What do all these share classes mean?</b></p>\n<p>For years now, many companies have chosen to have multiple share classes. This allows early investors to retain voting control of a company even if they sell off a majority stake in its economic interest. Although tech companies were notorious for offering multiple share classes, the trend extended to the media industry as well.</p>\n<p>Discovery's three share classes have very different voting rights. Series A shares have one vote, while Series C shares don't have any votes. Series B shares represent super-voting shares, with 10 votes per share.</p>\n<p>All three share classes are available for trading. However, typical trading volume varies greatly. Average volume for Series A and Series C shares amount to 13 million and 9 million, respectively. But a typical day brings just 3,000 shares of trading volume for Series B.</p>\n<p>That all changed on Wednesday, with more than 1.1 million shares changing hands as of 2 p.m. EDT. Some ascribed the move to the investors at the WallStreetBets investing board onReddit. Others pointed to the possibility of a short squeeze, although short interest as of March 15 was exceptionally low.</p>\n<p><b>Market inefficiency is here to stay</b></p>\n<p>Most of the time, these three share classes trade in similar patterns. The super-voting shares tend to cost a little more than the Series A regular voting shares, which in turn trade at a slight premium to non-voting Series C shares. Shares of AMD fell 25.5% from peak to their recent trough, which is about in-line with Nvidia’s&nbsp;(<b>NVDA</b>) &nbsp;recent slide.</p>\n<p>I liked Nvidia on the dip&nbsp;and because both companies have great fundamentals I like AMD on the dip too.</p>\n<p>So far, shares have been rallying nicely off last week’s low. Let’s take a closer look at the chart to see what the damage is.</p>\n<p><b>Trading AMD</b></p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c1746940036301b9d0299b9304312180\" tg-width=\"1070\" tg-height=\"736\"><span>Daily chart of AMD stock.</span></p>\n<p>Earlier in the year, AMD looked set to test $100 and potentially break out over this mark.</p>\n<p>Instead, it kept finding sellers on each rally, even as the $87 level was acting as support along with the 100-day moving average.</p>\n<p>Ultimately these levels failed as support, with shares flushing down to the 200-day moving average.</p>\n<p>It wasn’t necessarily wrong for investors to expect the 200-day moving average to be support. However, with rising interest rates driving the narrative, tech stocks were under heavy pressure.</p>\n<p>Once this level failed for AMD, it looked dicey. That is, unless you were looking at multiple timeframes.</p>\n<p>AMD stock traded down perfectly to range support near $74, as well as the 50-week moving average. It bounced from this level on Friday March 5th and closed at it on Monday March 8th. Since then, it’s been enjoying a strong rally.</p>\n<p>From here, we have to see how the stock handles its 100-day moving average and the $87 level. These prior measures were support. If they are reclaimed, they can again act as support.</p>\n<p>However, if they are resistance, AMD stock may need more time to consolidate.</p>\n<p>On the downside, let’s see if shares can stay above the 200-day moving average. If the stock can do so, it’s likely a buyable dip. Below it puts the 50-week moving average in play.</p>\n<p>Even though I don't know if $78 or $88 is next, I like AMD stock for the long term. Shares of AMD fell 25.5% from peak to their recent trough, which is about in-line with Nvidia’s (NVDA)  recent slide.\nI liked Nvidia on the dip and because both companies have great fundamentals I like AMD on the dip too.\nSo far, shares have been rallying nicely off last week’s low. Let’s take a closer look at the chart to see what the damage is.\nTrading AMD\nDaily chart of AMD stock.\nEarlier in the year, AMD looked set to test $100 and potentially break out over this mark.\nInstead, it kept finding sellers on each rally, even as the $87 level was acting as support along with the 100-day moving average.\nUltimately these levels failed as support, with shares flushing down to the 200-day moving average.\nIt wasn’t necessarily wrong for investors to expect the 200-day moving average to be support. However, with rising interest rates driving the narrative, tech stocks were under heavy pressure.\nOnce this level failed for AMD, it looked dicey. That is, unless you were looking at multiple timeframes.\nAMD stock traded down perfectly to range support near $74, as well as the 50-week moving average. It bounced from this level on Friday March 5th and closed at it on Monday March 8th. Since then, it’s been enjoying a strong rally.\nFrom here, we have to see how the stock handles its 100-day moving average and the $87 level. These prior measures were support. If they are reclaimed, they can again act as support.\nHowever, if they are resistance, AMD stock may need more time to consolidate.\nOn the downside, let’s see if shares can stay above the 200-day moving average. If the stock can do so, it’s likely a buyable dip. Below it puts the 50-week moving average in play.\nEven though I don't know if $78 or $88 is next, I like AMD stock for the long term. Shares of AMD fell 25.5% from peak to their recent trough, which is about in-line with Nvidia’s&nbsp;(<b>NVDA</b>) &nbsp;recent slide.</p>\n<p>I liked Nvidia on the dip&nbsp;and because both companies have great fundamentals I like AMD on the dip too.</p>\n<p>So far, shares have been rallying nicely off last week’s low. Let’s take a closer look at the chart to see what the damage is.</p>\n<p><b>Trading AMD</b></p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c1746940036301b9d0299b9304312180\" tg-width=\"1070\" tg-height=\"736\"><span>Daily chart of AMD stock.</span></p>\n<p>Earlier in the year, AMD looked set to test $100 and potentially break out over this mark.</p>\n<p>Instead, it kept finding sellers on each rally, even as the $87 level was acting as support along with the 100-day moving average.</p>\n<p>Ultimately these levels failed as support, with shares flushing down to the 200-day moving average.</p>\n<p>It wasn’t necessarily wrong for investors to expect the 200-day moving average to be support. However, with rising interest rates driving the narrative, tech stocks were under heavy pressure.</p>\n<p>Once this level failed for AMD, it looked dicey. That is, unless you were looking at multiple timeframes.</p>\n<p>AMD stock traded down perfectly to range support near $74, as well as the 50-week moving average. It bounced from this level on Friday March 5th and closed at it on Monday March 8th. Since then, it’s been enjoying a strong rally.</p>\n<p>From here, we have to see how the stock handles its 100-day moving average and the $87 level. These prior measures were support. If they are reclaimed, they can again act as support.</p>\n<p>However, if they are resistance, AMD stock may need more time to consolidate.</p>\n<p>On the downside, let’s see if shares can stay above the 200-day moving average. If the stock can do so, it’s likely a buyable dip. Below it puts the 50-week moving average in play.</p>\n<p>Even though I don't know if $78 or $88 is next, I like AMD stock for the long term. Shares of AMD fell 25.5% from peak to their recent trough, which is about in-line with Nvidia’s (NVDA)  recent slide.\nI liked Nvidia on the dip and because both companies have great fundamentals I like AMD on the dip too.\nSo far, shares have been rallying nicely off last week’s low. Let’s take a closer look at the chart to see what the damage is.\nTrading AMD\nDaily chart of AMD stock.\nEarlier in the year, AMD looked set to test $100 and potentially break out over this mark.\nInstead, it kept finding sellers on each rally, even as the $87 level was acting as support along with the 100-day moving average.\nUltimately these levels failed as support, with shares flushing down to the 200-day moving average.\nIt wasn’t necessarily wrong for investors to expect the 200-day moving average to be support. However, with rising interest rates driving the narrative, tech stocks were under heavy pressure.\nOnce this level failed for AMD, it looked dicey. That is, unless you were looking at multiple timeframes.\nAMD stock traded down perfectly to range support near $74, as well as the 50-week moving average. It bounced from this level on Friday March 5th and closed at it on Monday March 8th. Since then, it’s been enjoying a strong rally.\nFrom here, we have to see how the stock handles its 100-day moving average and the $87 level. These prior measures were support. If they are reclaimed, they can again act as support.\nHowever, if they are resistance, AMD stock may need more time to consolidate.\nOn the downside, let’s see if shares can stay above the 200-day moving average. If the stock can do so, it’s likely a buyable dip. Below it puts the 50-week moving average in play.\nEven though I don't know if $78 or $88 is next, I like AMD stock for the long term.
