Corrections and crashes are inevitable in the stock market -- it's a matter of when they will happen, not if.
\n
During the next downturn, your favorite stocks might go on sale. Don't miss the opportunity to buy great stocks at attractive prices for long-term returns. Here are three stocks that are a bit expensive at the moment, but could make great investments when a correction shakes things up.
\n
1. Microsoft
\n
As a company, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is enjoying a renaissance, and its business success has led to the stock being somewhat expensive as a result.
\n
This 46-year-old company is the second-most-valuable publicly traded company in the world (trading places with No. 1 Apple a couple of times in 2021), and it's still delivering fantastic growth. In its most recent quarterly results, revenue was up 22% year over year. That's extremely rare, and it's only possible with a strong economic moat along with a commitment to entering new growth markets.
\n
Microsoft has dominated the PC operating system market for decades, and its Office suite also holds nearly 90% market share. Viable competitors and alternatives exist, but Microsoft's traditional products have the brand strength, user familiarity, and overall quality to ensure that the company will be a major player in those lanes for years to come.
\n
Microsoft used that foundation as a launchpad, repeatedly showing its willingness to wade into the next wave of growth industries. It's an established leader in the gaming market, with Xbox. Azure has nearly 20% of the cloud computing market. Outlook is a popular email client, especially for businesses, and it's built a number of customer relationship management (CRM) tools to extend its email and productivity software. Microsoft has enjoyed real success in the device business with its Surface products. Bing has a 3% global search engine market share. Even though it was eventually scrapped, Microsoft even showed initiative in the early days of the smartphone industry by developing a Windows Phone.
\n
Microsoft is diversified as a leader in multiple tech categories, and it's shrewdly moved to the front of several high-growth industries. Azure's growth rate is above 50%, and the company's cloud segment produces more than a third of its revenue. Investors can be confident that Microsoft has incredible staying power and that it will continue to invest in new growth opportunities as they arise.
\n
All that said, its stock is expensive. Microsoft's forward P/E ratio is around 36 now. A lot of strong performance is built into the share price, and any stumbles are likely to cause a drawdown. This is a stock to monitor. If that forward P/E ratio gets below 30 and the enterprise-value-to-EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) ratio gets down around 20, then Microsoft is a must-buy stock.
\n
2. Veeva Systems
\n
Veeva Systems (NYSE:VEEV) is the cloud software leader in the life sciences industry. It has more than 1,000 customers, many of whom are large pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Veeva's products support customers in drug development, data management, regulatory compliance, CRM, sales, and quality assurance.
\n
By focusing on pharmaceutical and life sciences customers, Veeva is more valuable to customers than competitors whose products are designed for a broader range of industries. It reported 124% net subscription revenue retention last year, meaning that it not only keeps its customers but also expands its relationships with them. That competitive advantage is nearly impossible to topple in the foreseeable future, and its target customers' market is expected to grow 10%-15% annually over the next decade.
\n
Veeva's annual sales growth rate is above 25%, but its valuation ratios are less attractive. The stock trades at a forward P/E ratio of 65 and price-to-sales ratio approaching 25. Even its strong growth outlook can't stop Veeva's PEG ratio from approaching 3, which is high. I can't wait to buy more of this stock if it gets cheaper.
\n
3. Palo Alto Networks
\n
Cybersecurity stocks were hot this year, and Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) was right at the front of that wave. The stock price is up around 120% since the start of 2020.
\n
Palo Alto Networks provides a variety of enterprise security software and services. It's a major player in firewall and network security, cloud-native applications, and the up-and-coming secure access service edge (SASE), which is essential for organizations that have employees accessing their corporate software remotely. Hacks, ransomware, data theft, and a host of other issues are more prominent than ever before, and every enterprise is coming to grips with the burden of protecting themselves along with their customers.
\n
That's driving incredible demand across the entire cybersecurity industry, and Palo Alto is one of the biggest benefactors. The company's sales rose 25% in its last fiscal year, and it followed that up with a 32% expansion in its most recent quarter. Palo Alto Networks isn't profitable on a GAAP basis, but it produces a ton of free cash flow -- equal to more than 30% of its revenue. Corrections and crashes are inevitable in the stock market -- it's a matter of when they will happen, not if.\nDuring the next downturn, your favorite stocks might go on sale. Don't miss the opportunity to buy great stocks at attractive prices for long-term returns. Here are three stocks that are a bit expensive at the moment, but could make great investments when a correction shakes things up.\n1. Microsoft\nAs a company, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is enjoying a renaissance, and its business success has led to the stock being somewhat expensive as a result.\nThis 46-year-old company is the second-most-valuable publicly traded company in the world (trading places with No. 1 Apple a couple of times in 2021), and it's still delivering fantastic growth. In its most recent quarterly results, revenue was up 22% year over year. That's extremely rare, and it's only possible with a strong economic moat along with a commitment to entering new growth markets.\nMicrosoft has dominated the PC operating system market for decades, and its Office suite also holds nearly 90% market share. Viable competitors and alternatives exist, but Microsoft's traditional products have the brand strength, user familiarity, and overall quality to ensure that the company will be a major player in those lanes for years to come.\nMicrosoft used that foundation as a launchpad, repeatedly showing its willingness to wade into the next wave of growth industries. Even though it was eventually scrapped, Microsoft even showed initiative in the early days of the smartphone industry by developing a Windows Phone.\nMicrosoft is diversified as a leader in multiple tech categories, and it's shrewdly moved to the front of several high-growth industries. Azure's growth rate is above 50%, and the company's cloud segment produces more than a third of its revenue. Investors can be confident that Microsoft has incredible staying power and that it will continue to invest in new growth opportunities as they arise.\nAll that said, its stock is expensive. Microsoft's forward P/E ratio is around 36 now. A lot of strong performance is built into the share price, and any stumbles are likely to cause a drawdown. This is a stock to monitor. If that forward P/E ratio gets below 30 and the enterprise-value-to-EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) ratio gets down around 20, then Microsoft is a must-buy stock.\n2. Veeva Systems\nVeeva Systems (NYSE:VEEV) is the cloud software leader in the life sciences industry. It has more than 1,000 customers, many of whom are large pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Veeva's products support customers in drug development, data management, regulatory compliance, CRM, sales, and quality assurance.\nBy focusing on pharmaceutical and life sciences customers, Veeva is more valuable to customers than competitors whose products are designed for a broader range of industries. It reported 124% net subscription revenue retention last year, meaning that it not only keeps its customers but also expands its relationships with them. That competitive advantage is nearly impossible to topple in the foreseeable future, and its target customers' market is expected to grow 10%-15% annually over the next decade.\nVeeva's annual sales growth rate is above 25%, but its valuation ratios are less attractive. The stock trades at a forward P/E ratio of 65 and price-to-sales ratio approaching 25. Even its strong growth outlook can't stop Veeva's PEG ratio from approaching 3, which is high. I can't wait to buy more of this stock if it gets cheaper.\n3. Palo Alto Networks\nCybersecurity stocks were hot this year, and Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) was right at the front of that wave. The stock price is up around 120% since the start of 2020.\nPalo Alto Networks provides a variety of enterprise security software and services. It's a major player in firewall and network security, cloud-native applications, and the up-and-coming secure access service edge (SASE), which is essential for organizations that have employees accessing their corporate software remotely. Hacks, ransomware, data theft, and a host of other issues are more prominent than ever before, and every enterprise is coming to grips with the burden of protecting themselves along with their customers.\nThat's driving incredible demand across the entire cybersecurity industry, and Palo Alto is one of the biggest benefactors. The company's sales rose 25% in its last fiscal year, and it followed that up with a 32% expansion in its most recent quarter. Palo Alto Networks isn't profitable on a GAAP basis, but it produces a ton of free cash flow -- equal to more than 30% of its revenue. This company has nearly unstoppable growth catalysts for the next few years, and it has the financial resources to invest in growth and acquisitions to stay competitive.\nUnfortunately, those great returns in recent years have made Palo Alto Networks a tad expensive. It trades at a price-to-sales ratio above 10, and a price-to-free-cash-flow ratio close to 30. Those ratios aren't crazy in today's market, but this becomes a slam dunk if it gets just a bit cheaper.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"CRM":0.9,"MSFT":0.9,"PANW":0.9,"VEEV":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":3043,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":603742398,"gmtCreate":1638456322468,"gmtModify":1638456322909,"author":{"id":"3575460669959467","authorId":"3575460669959467","name":"missreenaa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/aca8e1a20d7f8ea555aea51ad669de58","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575460669959467","authorIdStr":"3575460669959467"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yay go Grab!! China is one of DBS' six core markets, together with Singapore, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong and Taiwan.\nDBS chief executive officer Piyush Gupta said: \"We see this as a highly complementary strategic partnership that will allow us to double down on the Greater Bay Area and leverage SZRCB's local network and know-how to deepen DBS' Greater Bay Area strategy.\n\"At the same time, we would be able to support the continued growth and digital transformation of SZRCB through our regional presence and digital capabilities.\"\nThe deal strategically positions DBS to increase its stake in the Shenzhen lender after China eased rules on foreign ownership in the financial services sector, the bank said in its statement on Tuesday (April 20).\nThe investment has been approved by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Shenzhen office of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission and is expected to be completed following approval by the China Securities Regulatory Commission.\nUpon the completion of the deal, DBS will become the largest shareholder in SZRCB and will have representation on the Chinese bank's board of directors.\nDBS said the investment will have less than 0.2 percentage points impact to the group's capital ratios, and is expected to be immediately accretive to earnings and return on equity (ROE).\nThe bank will acquire 1.35 billion new shares in SZRCB at 3.91 yuan per share, representing 1.01 times the book value per share of SZRCB as of end-December 2020. DBS said it intends to fund the investment using internal cash resources.\nSZRCB operates one of the largest bank branch networks in Shenzhen, where 210 of its 217 branches and over 2,100 self-service terminals are located.\nWith more than 5 million active retail customers and over 170,000 active corporate clients, SZRCB had 404 billion (S$82 billion) of deposits and 519 billion yuan of total assets at the end of last year.\nApproximately 40 per cent of its total loans are in the retail segment and the remaining 60 per cent in the corporate segment, largely to local small and medium enterprises.\nFor the year ended Dec 31, 2020, the Shenzhen bank generated 4.8 billion yuan in net profit after tax. DBS said SZRCB has a strong track record of profitability, achieving average ROE of over 17 per cent since its establishment in 2005.\nOn Tuesday, Reuters reported that DBS was among potential bidders for parts of Citigroup's consumer business in Asia.\nAt its virtual annual general meeting last month, DBS said it was looking to double down its presence in China and India as part of efforts to expand into the wider region.\nIn November last year, DBS completed its takeover of cash-strapped Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB) in India, which added 550 branches and 900-plus ATMs to its network in the country.\nSaid Mr Gupta in Tuesday's statement: \"Our ability to execute another strategic transaction shortly after amalgamating LVB in India, is testament to our ability to be nimble and grow, as we leverage on our strong capital position.\"","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"00152":0.9,"BYBK":0.9,"D05.SI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":170,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":828265117,"gmtCreate":1633917515825,"gmtModify":1633917516224,"author":{"id":"3575460669959467","authorId":"3575460669959467","name":"missreenaa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/aca8e1a20d7f8ea555aea51ad669de58","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575460669959467","authorIdStr":"3575460669959467"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$Yas finally took off ✈✈","listText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$Yas finally took off ✈✈","text":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$Yas finally took off ✈✈","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/c5d41216d07d5e79e1db1bad739d3d19","width":"1080","height":"3075"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":6,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/828265117","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1985,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":603742398,"gmtCreate":1638456322468,"gmtModify":1638456322909,"author":{"id":"3575460669959467","authorId":"3575460669959467","name":"missreenaa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/aca8e1a20d7f8ea555aea51ad669de58","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575460669959467","authorIdStr":"3575460669959467"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yay go Grab!! Nio ended the year at $48.38, for an eye-popping 1,080% gain. However, 2021 hasn’t been so rosy for Nio stock.
\n
After climbing to a $62.84 close on Feb. 9, NIO stock has slumped. Now trading below $38, NIO is down 30% from the start of the year, and off its February all-time high by 40%.
\n
Ouch.
\n
The protracted slide has scared off nervous investors, while others see the dip as a golden opportunity to grab shares on the cheap.
\n
Which is it, time to make a move, or time to take a pass on NIO stock? I’m firmly in the former camp. NIO is an ‘A’-rated stock inPortfolio Graderand it’s is a hot company in an even hotter market.
\n
It’s facing challenges at the moment, but those are speed bumps. NIO has also been hit by abroad selloff of EV stocks. I think the big picture shows this dip offers a fantastic buying opportunity for anyone who wants to add EVs to their portfolio.
\n
Here’s why.
\n
Nio Is One of the Largest Chinese EV Makers
\n
Founded in 2014, Nio is one of China’s largest EV makers. It’s established, it has a wide range of premium EVs, including a new sedan to complement its lineup of crossovers and SUVs, and its factory is humming. Several days ago, the company announced itdelivered 7,102 vehicles in the month of April.
\n
That’s a 125.1% increase over deliveries for April, 2020.
\n
Nio also has an offering that other EV makers can’t match. Last August, the company launched Battery as a Service, or BaaS. This service allows Nio owners to pay a monthly lease for their EV’s battery instead of buying it outright. Doing so offers numerous advantages, including a lower EV purchase price, and the ability to upgrade the battery if higher capacity is needed.
\n
In addition, Nio owners who subscribe to BaaS don’t have to worry about whether their home has available EV chargers — a real concern in megacities where many people live in large apartment complexes. Instead, they can drive to a convenient station and swap out their depleted battery for a fully charged one.
\n
China Is The World’s Largest Car Market
\n
Another reason to love Nio? We tend to think of the U.S. when it comes to automobile production and sales. However, China has held the title of world’s largest car market for more than a decade.
\n
In 2020, there were 14.46 million new vehicles sold in the U.S., butChina notched 19.79 million new car sales. In addition, the Chinese auto market has far more runway for growth. In the U.S., there are currently over 800 cars for every 1,000 inhabitants. In China, that number is less than 200 for every 1,000 inhabitants.
\n
China is also an enthusiastic adopter of EVs. In 2020, 1.3 million EVs were sold in the country. Growth was modest at 8% — changing government subsidy programs had a negative effect — but that still represented 42% of global EV sales. In comparison, just 2.4% of vehicles sold in the U.S. last year were EVs.
\n
However, projections have the Chinese auto market returning to growth in 2021, after a year where the pandemic put a damper on the market. A report published in February putsChina on track to see a 50% increase in EV sales in 2021. Nio is going to capture a good chunk of that increase.
\n
That’s going to help push NIO stock out of its current funk.
\n
Some Challenges Still Weigh on NIO
\n
There are some challenges in 2021, of course. And these challenges have been part of the downward pressure on NIO stock. As I mentioned, after big growth last year, EV stocks in general have been in correction territory this year. There are concerns that globalchip shortages will constrain production of EV makers, including Nio. Competition is increasing. There is also the long-term threat that Chinese stocks like Nio may eventuallyface de-listing from American exchanges.
\n
It’s important to be aware of these issues, but I wouldn’t fixate on them. Most are surmountable and the de-listing threat is at least three years off.
\n
The Bottom Line on NIO Stock
\n
Nio is facing some challenges. Nio ended the year at $48.38, for an eye-popping 1,080% gain. However, 2021 hasn’t been so rosy for Nio stock.\nAfter climbing to a $62.84 close on Feb. 9, NIO stock has slumped. Now trading below $38, NIO is down 30% from the start of the year, and off its February all-time high by 40%.\nOuch.\nThe protracted slide has scared off nervous investors, while others see the dip as a golden opportunity to grab shares on the cheap.\nWhich is it, time to make a move, or time to take a pass on NIO stock? I’m firmly in the former camp. NIO is an ‘A’-rated stock inPortfolio Graderand it’s is a hot company in an even hotter market.\nIt’s facing challenges at the moment, but those are speed bumps. NIO has also been hit by abroad selloff of EV stocks. I think the big picture shows this dip offers a fantastic buying opportunity for anyone who wants to add EVs to their portfolio.\nHere’s why.\nNio Is One of the Largest Chinese EV Makers\nFounded in 2014, Nio is one of China’s largest EV makers. It’s established, it has a wide range of premium EVs, including a new sedan to complement its lineup of crossovers and SUVs, and its factory is humming. Several days ago, the company announced itdelivered 7,102 vehicles in the month of April.\nThat’s a 125.1% increase over deliveries for April, 2020.\nNio also has an offering that other EV makers can’t match. Last August, the company launched Battery as a Service, or BaaS. This service allows Nio owners to pay a monthly lease for their EV’s battery instead of buying it outright. Doing so offers numerous advantages, including a lower EV purchase price, and the ability to upgrade the battery if higher capacity is needed.\nIn addition, Nio owners who subscribe to BaaS don’t have to worry about whether their home has available EV chargers — a real concern in megacities where many people live in large apartment complexes. Instead, they can drive to a convenient station and swap out their depleted battery for a fully charged one.\nChina Is The World’s Largest Car Market\nAnother reason to love Nio? We tend to think of the U.S. when it comes to automobile production and sales. However, China has held the title of world’s largest car market for more than a decade.\nIn 2020, there were 14.46 million new vehicles sold in the U.S., butChina notched 19.79 million new car sales. In addition, the Chinese auto market has far more runway for growth. In the U.S., there are currently over 800 cars for every 1,000 inhabitants. In China, that number is less than 200 for every 1,000 inhabitants.\nChina is also an enthusiastic adopter of EVs. In 2020, 1.3 million EVs were sold in the country. Growth was modest at 8% — changing government subsidy programs had a negative effect — but that still represented 42% of global EV sales. In comparison, just 2.4% of vehicles sold in the U.S. last year were EVs.\nHowever, projections have the Chinese auto market returning to growth in 2021, after a year where the pandemic put a damper on the market. A report published in February putsChina on track to see a 50% increase in EV sales in 2021. Nio is going to capture a good chunk of that increase.\nThat’s going to help push NIO stock out of its current funk.\nSome Challenges Still Weigh on NIO\nThere are some challenges in 2021, of course. And these challenges have been part of the downward pressure on NIO stock. As I mentioned, after big growth last year, EV stocks in general have been in correction territory this year. There are concerns that globalchip shortages will constrain production of EV makers, including Nio. Competition is increasing. There is also the long-term threat that Chinese stocks like Nio may eventuallyface de-listing from American exchanges.\nIt’s important to be aware of these issues, but I wouldn’t fixate on them. Most are surmountable and the de-listing threat is at least three years off.\nThe Bottom Line on NIO Stock\nNio is facing some challenges. But the positives far outweigh the negatives in this case. This is a company with huge growth momentum and I expect NIO stock will once again reflect that.\nMany analysts agree with me. The 19 investment analysts polled byCNN Moneyhave NIO stock rated as a consensus “Buy” with a $58.98 median price target. That’s around 56% upside — if you make a move now, before NIO starts to recover.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"NIO":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":268,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":385591700,"gmtCreate":1613561047100,"gmtModify":1634553155388,"author":{"id":"3575460669959467","authorId":"3575460669959467","name":"missreenaa","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/aca8e1a20d7f8ea555aea51ad669de58","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575460669959467","authorIdStr":"3575460669959467"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"EV is the future. Everyone wanted a piece of the red-hot EV industry. From traditional automakers to new EV start-ups, all are scrambling in a race to capture more market shares as the industry heats up. We saw today that Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) reported its first-quarter deliveries of 184,800 vehicles, beating analysts' expectations.

It is no secret that the world is heading towards EVs as the world moves forward toward a more sustainable environment. If you have been following the news, you would know that Volkswagen (OTCMKTS: VWAGY) recently joked about changing its name to \"Voltswagen\". While not everyone appreciates the humor, it nevertheless suggests that electric vehicles are on top of the minds of many. What's more, the International Energy Agency (IEA) announced earlier this year that it will outline the roadmap to net-zero-emissions by 2050. EVs will play a critical role in ensuring we get there.

The recent global chip shortage has had a significant impact on EV stocks. For this reason, top EV stocks have been under pressure along with the broader market weakness. Despite the shortages of chips, both Nio (NYSE: NIO) and Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) have taken the market by storm with their robust first quarter. Now, as both companies have reported big gains in first-quarter deliveries, there has been a sigh of relief among investors. Let's take another look to see which of the two EV stocks is the better buy in the stock market today.

Nio (NIO)

Nio is an electric-vehicle maker that has seen huge success both in China and the stock market. The company is arguably one of the most successful EV companies in terms of growth today.

To elaborate, NIO stock has been up by over 1,000% in the past year. The strategic approach to its battery services could explain the underlying reason for its growth surge. Nio offers substantial discounts of up to $11,000 when customers subscribe to its battery pack usage.

Nio's strength is at its post-purchase service. Most importantly, EV owners can conveniently replace or upgrade batteries with ease. Let's examine how Nio has fared thus far.

[Read More] Top Automotive Stocks To Watch This Upcoming Week? 4 Names To Know

Nio Is Gaining Strong Momentum In China

From its quarterly update, Nio said that it delivered 20,060 vehicles in the first quarter. That's ahead of the roughly 19,500 it had forecast when it announced a temporary production halt last week.

Source: TD Ameritrade TOS

Despite that, Nio was able to deliver 7,257 vehicles in March, beating its monthly record of 7,225 deliveries set in January. Should the momentum persist, investors won't have to wait long for Nio's next delivery milestone.

New Cars, New Markets And Higher Production Capacity

As Nio gains a foothold in China, it is also worth mentioning that Nio is expanding its reach to the European market. The company plans to attract customers by offering a custom-tailored design that resonates with the local market. From there, it expects to achieve a production capacity of 300,000 by the end of 2021. The capacity expansion is in tandem with the company's plan to commence production of the ET5 and ET7 this year. With so many developments underway, would you consider NIO stock at its current price level?

[Read More] Best Clean Energy Stocks To Watch Amid Biden's Infrastructure Plan

Xpeng (XPEV)

Xpeng Inc. is a leading smart EV company that designs, manufactures, and markets smart EVs that are integrated with advanced AI and autonomous driving technologies.

The company recently announced that it was able to raise $78 million in a new round of investment from the Guangdong provincial government. The funding is meant to support both Xpeng's EV production and R&D for its autonomous driving unit.

Xpeng also recently completed its autonomous driving expedition. Utilizing a fleet of Xpeng's P7 lineup, it is set to become the longest autonomous driving expedition in China. The expedition will cross a total distance of 3,675km across six provinces.

Record Breaking Sales

From its first-quarter deliveries, Xpeng has delivered a record-breaking 13,340 Smart EVs. This represents a 487% growth year over year. That demonstrated Xpeng's robust growth momentum despite the seasonal industry-wide slowdown in car sales. Deliveries in March were 5,102 vehicles represents a 384% increase year over year and a 130% increase from the previous month. XPeng attributed the record to its growing brand recognition, product appeal, and expanded product portfolio.

Source: TD Ameritrade TOS

Furthermore, the company has also been relentless in broadening sales, marketing, and supercharging service networks across China. If Xpeng can keep its momentum up, the company could easily hit another record later this year.

Diversified Product Line Ups

The company also launched a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery option across all of its models. Unlike the nickel counterparts, LFP batteries are economical, have a longer lifespan, and reduce the risk of overheating. Investors love Xpeng and XPEV stock because it has expanded its product portfolio and is able to meet the needs of autonomous driving features at a similar price point. This could be a strong appeal to many consumers and potentially lead to a rise in demand. Considering its diversified product offerings, it seems to me like there's a huge growth runway down the road for the company.

[Read More] 4 Trending Tech Stocks To Watch In April 2021

Bottom Line: NIO Stock Vs XPEV Stock

Based on the profile of both Chinese EV giants, they are not exactly direct competitors. Nio has a strong position point with its comprehensive battery service. It is also planning expansions to other markets and has 3 new EVs in the pipeline with an aggressive increase in production capacity.

On the flip side, Xpeng takes the lead on being a Smart EV company with advanced autonomous driving tech and innovative batteries on addressing more market needs. Both companies appear to be on track with their developments and deliveries. Let's take another look to see which of the two EV stocks is the better buy in the stock market today.Nio (NIO)Nio is an electric-vehicle maker that has seen huge success both in China and the stock market. Let's examine how Nio has fared thus far.[Read More] Top Automotive Stocks To Watch This Upcoming Week? 4 Names To KnowNio Is Gaining Strong Momentum In ChinaFrom its quarterly update, Nio said that it delivered 20,060 vehicles in the first quarter. That's ahead of the roughly 19,500 it had forecast when it announced a temporary production halt last week. Source: TD Ameritrade TOSDespite that, Nio was able to deliver 7,257 vehicles in March, beating its monthly record of 7,225 deliveries set in January. Should the momentum persist, investors won't have to wait long for Nio's next delivery milestone.New Cars, New Markets And Higher Production CapacityAs Nio gains a foothold in China, it is also worth mentioning that Nio is expanding its reach to the European market. The company plans to attract customers by offering a custom-tailored design that resonates with the local market. From there, it expects to achieve a production capacity of 300,000 by the end of 2021. The capacity expansion is in tandem with the company's plan to commence production of the ET5 and ET7 this year. With so many developments underway, would you consider NIO stock at its current price level?[Read More] Best Clean Energy Stocks To Watch Amid Biden's Infrastructure PlanXpeng (XPEV)Xpeng Inc. is a leading smart EV company that designs, manufactures, and markets smart EVs that are integrated with advanced AI and autonomous driving technologies. The expedition will cross a total distance of 3,675km across six provinces.Record Breaking SalesFrom its first-quarter deliveries, Xpeng has delivered a record-breaking 13,340 Smart EVs. Source: TD Ameritrade TOSFurthermore, the company has also been relentless in broadening sales, marketing, and supercharging service networks across China. If Xpeng can keep its momentum up, the company could easily hit another record later this year.Diversified Product Line UpsThe company also launched a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery option across all of its models. Considering its diversified product offerings, it seems to me like there's a huge growth runway down the road for the company.[Read More] 4 Trending Tech Stocks To Watch In April 2021Bottom Line: NIO Stock Vs XPEV StockBased on the profile of both Chinese EV giants, they are not exactly direct competitors.
