,"news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0,".IXIC":0,".SPX":0,"GDP":0,"MA":0}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1523,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":699262680,"gmtCreate":1639814087081,"gmtModify":1639814087938,"author":{"id":"3575764061064234","authorId":"3575764061064234","name":"TKCat","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/99ee288f493a95ddc49f6f7bbeb74457","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575764061064234","authorIdStr":"3575764061064234"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] return from the Thanksgiving-shortened trading week, focus will shift to the U.S. labor","content":"
As investors return from the Thanksgiving-shortened trading week, focus will shift to the U.S. labor market.
\n
The Labor Department's monthly jobs report due for release on Friday is set to provide an updated snapshot of the strength in hiring and labor force participation in the U.S. economy. Consensus economists are looking for a half-million jobs to have returned in November, with the pace of hiring slowing only slightly from October's 531,000 gain. The unemployment rate is also expected to improve further to 4.5% from October's 4.6%, reaching the lowest level since March 2020.
\n
\"We expect non-farm payrolls to have risen by 500,000 in November, but the growing risk of a winter COVID wave and a dwindling supply of available workers will weigh on jobs growth soon,\" wrote Paul Ashworth, chief North America economist for Capital Economics, in a note last week.
\n
\"Employment growth can’t continue at this pace for much longer unless the labor force stages a more notable recovery. If anything, labor supply couldworsenover the coming months as the federal vaccine mandate covering 100 [million] workers begins on January 4,\" Ashworth added. \"That suggests wage growth will remain strong, and we expect a 0.4% [month-over-month] rise in average hourly earnings in October.\"
\n
On a year-over-year basis, average hourly earnings are expected to rise by 5.0%, accelerating even further after October's already marked 4.9% rise and representing the fastest wage growth rate since February.
\n
Growing average wages and a tight labor market — while a positive for consumers and their ability to spend — has also stoked concerns over persistent inflation. Last week's Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) deflator from the Bureau of Economic Analysis for October showed an annual jump of 5.0% in the index, or the biggest rise since 1990. And the core PCE, or the Fed's preferred inflation gauge stripping out volatile food and energy prices, rose by 4.1% year-over-year — the most in three decades.
\n
Other recent data have homed in on the tight labor market and presaged a potentially strong November jobs report. Last week'sinitial jobless claims fell to a 52-year low of 199,000, taking out both the prior pandemic-era low and pre-pandemic average for new first-time filings. This served as yet another point underscoring the steep competition for labor among U.S. employers, with companies attempting to hire and retain their existing workforces amid widespread labor shortages.
\n
Even given these lingering scarcities, the labor force participation rate has yet to return to pre-pandemic levels. The civilian labor force was still down by nearly 3 million participants compared to February 2020, with lingering concerns over the virus and adesire by many working-age individuals to seek out new roles with better flexibility and benefitsstill keeping many individuals on the sidelines of the workforce. Consensus economists expect the labor force participation rate to tick up only slightly in November to reach 61.7%, growing from October's 61.6% but coming in well below the 63.3% rate from February 2020.
\n
Returning the economy back to pre-pandemic labor force participation levels and ensuring job gains are seen equitably across different groups has become a key focus for the Federal Reserve. And the distance still left to make up on these fronts has also been the biggest factor keeping the Fed ultra-accommodative with its monetary policy support, even after a parade of hotter-than-expected inflation reports that would appear to warrant a more hawkish policy tilt and a quicker-than-expected hike to interest rates.Fed Chair Jerome Powell's renomination to remain as head of the central bankfurther suggests the Fed's focus on the labor market as a critical informing factor for monetary policy will remain.
\n
\"Market views for future Fed rate increases have been pulled forward aggressively in response to evidence that elevated inflation pressures are likely to persist for longer,\" wrote Deutsche Bank economist Justin Weidner in a note last week. \"However, as Chair Powell's November press conference made evident, prospects for the labor market to return to maximum employment remain a critical consideration for when the Fed will eventually begin to actively tighten monetary policy.\"
\n
Economic calendar
\n
\n

Monday:Pending home sales, month-over-month, October (0.7% expected, -2.3% in September); Dallas Federal Reserve Manufacturing Activity Index, November (17.0 expected, 14.6 in October)

\n

Tuesday:FHFA House Price Index, month-over-month, September (1.2% expected, 1.0% in August); S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Index, month-over-month, September (1.30% expected, 1.17% in August); S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Index, September (19.66% during prior month); MNI Chicago PMI, November (67.0 expected, 68.4 in October); Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, November (110.0 expected, 113.8 in October)

\n

Wednesday:MBA Mortgage Applications, November 26 (1.8% during prior week); ADP Employment Change, November (515,000 expected, 571,000 in October); Markit U.S. Manufacturing PMI, November final (59.1 during prior month); Construction Spending, month-over-month, October (0.5% expected, -0.5% in September); ISM Manufacturing, November (61.0 expected, 60.8 in October); Federal Reserve releases Beige Book

\n

Thursday:Challenger job cuts, November (-71.7% in October); Initial jobless claims, week ended Nov. 27 (199,000 during prior week); Continuing claims, Nov. 20 (2.049 during prior week)

\n

Friday:Change in non-farm payrolls, November (500,000 expected, 531,000 in October); Unemployment rate, November (4.5% expected, 4.6% in October); Average Hourly Earnings, month-over-month, November (0.4% expected, 0.4% in October); Average Hourly Earnings, year-over-year, November (5.0% expected, 4.9% in October); Markit U.S. Services PMI, November final (57.0 in prior print); Markit U.S. Composite PMI, November final (56.5 in prior print); ISM Services Index, November (65.0 expected, 66.7 in October); Factory Orders, October (0.5% expected, 0.2% in September); Durable Goods Orders, October final (-0.5% in prior print)

\n
\n
Earnings calendar
\n
\n

Monday:No notable reports scheduled for release

\n

Tuesday:Salesforce.com (CRM) after market close

\n

Wednesday:PVH Corp. The Apple Maven presents three reasons why shares may climb from here in the foreseeable future.
\n
As Apple stock dips to just north of $140 apiece, many may feel uneasy holding shares when momentum is so unfavorable. But there are at least three reasons, all supported by investment experts and the Apple Maven, that suggest that buying AAPL now may be the right move.
\n
Today, the Apple Maven looks at what I consider to be the three key pillars of the short-term bullish case on the Cupertino-based company’s stock.
\n
Figure 1: Apple logo.
\n
#1. Selloff is not about Apple
\n
Few will argue that Apple’s quick 10% drop from the September 7 all-time high had anything to do with the company’s fundamentals. In fact,as I have recently presented, the core of Apple’s business has been in great shape: the iPhone 13 is proving to be a bigger deal than many previously expected.
\n
Evidence that Apple’s performance is very likely unrelated to the recent share price decline can also be found in analysts’ expectations. Over the past 90 days, while AAPL price stayed flat at around $140 per share, 2021 EPS projections climbed more than 40 cents. Apply a conservative earnings multiple of 25 times to this delta, and we are looking at over $10 in per-share value that never materialized.
\n
Figure 2: AAPL EPS trend.
\n
If the recent pullback in AAPL happened despite deterioration in fundamentals, then I find it reasonable to expect Apple stock to rebound in the foreseeable future. This also seems to be the opinion of Wedbush’s Dan Ives, who recently said the following:
\n
\n “We continue to believe this pressure on the tech sector is short-lived with our belief that tech stocks will be up 10%+ into year-end. The tech growth stories are being massively underestimated by the Street in our opinion, with 3Q earnings a major positive catalyst for the tech sector looking ahead.”\n
\n
#2. History says “buy dips”
\n
I have repeatedly reminded readers that Apple stock is a better buy after a pullback. The chart below shows that, the larger the drawdown, the higher forward one-year returns tend to be. While the current 10% pullback is not quite a large one by historical standards, it is about as much as Apple stock has corrected since March 2021.
\n
The buy-the-dip idea is shared by venture capitalist Jim Breyer. He has recently said that “for the last two years, when the mega-cap tech stocks have sold off significantly, I'm a buyer”. He believes that Big Tech, Apple included, are the best companies in the world. Therefore, why not buy equity in them when their shares go on sale?
\n
Figure 3: Average one-year return on AAPL, by strategy.
\n
#3. Seasonality improves in October
\n
Maybe surprising to those who subscribe to the efficient market theory, Apple share price tends to follow a seasonal pattern. Since the launch of the original iPhone in 2007, the stock performs well early in the summer, but sells off in September. This is probably the case because investors “buy the rumors” ahead of the late September iPhone launch, and “sell the news” in the last week of Q3.
\n
The better news is that October tends to be a rebound month. The Apple Maven presents three reasons why shares may climb from here in the foreseeable future.\nAs Apple stock dips to just north of $140 apiece, many may feel uneasy holding shares when momentum is so unfavorable. But there are at least three reasons, all supported by investment experts and the Apple Maven, that suggest that buying AAPL now may be the right move.\nToday, the Apple Maven looks at what I consider to be the three key pillars of the short-term bullish case on the Cupertino-based company’s stock.\nFigure 1: Apple logo.\n#1. Selloff is not about Apple\nFew will argue that Apple’s quick 10% drop from the September 7 all-time high had anything to do with the company’s fundamentals. In fact,as I have recently presented, the core of Apple’s business has been in great shape: the iPhone 13 is proving to be a bigger deal than many previously expected.\nEvidence that Apple’s performance is very likely unrelated to the recent share price decline can also be found in analysts’ expectations. Over the past 90 days, while AAPL price stayed flat at around $140 per share, 2021 EPS projections climbed more than 40 cents. Apply a conservative earnings multiple of 25 times to this delta, and we are looking at over $10 in per-share value that never materialized.\nFigure 2: AAPL EPS trend.\nIf the recent pullback in AAPL happened despite deterioration in fundamentals, then I find it reasonable to expect Apple stock to rebound in the foreseeable future. This also seems to be the opinion of Wedbush’s Dan Ives, who recently said the following:\n\n “We continue to believe this pressure on the tech sector is short-lived with our belief that tech stocks will be up 10%+ into year-end. The tech growth stories are being massively underestimated by the Street in our opinion, with 3Q earnings a major positive catalyst for the tech sector looking ahead.”\n\n#2. History says “buy dips”\nI have repeatedly reminded readers that Apple stock is a better buy after a pullback. The chart below shows that, the larger the drawdown, the higher forward one-year returns tend to be. While the current 10% pullback is not quite a large one by historical standards, it is about as much as Apple stock has corrected since March 2021.\nThe buy-the-dip idea is shared by venture capitalist Jim Breyer. He has recently said that “for the last two years, when the mega-cap tech stocks have sold off significantly, I'm a buyer”. He believes that Big Tech, Apple included, are the best companies in the world. Therefore, why not buy equity in them when their shares go on sale?\nFigure 3: Average one-year return on AAPL, by strategy.\n#3. Seasonality improves in October\nMaybe surprising to those who subscribe to the efficient market theory, Apple share price tends to follow a seasonal pattern. Since the launch of the original iPhone in 2007, the stock performs well early in the summer, but sells off in September. This is probably the case because investors “buy the rumors” ahead of the late September iPhone launch, and “sell the news” in the last week of Q3.\nThe better news is that October tends to be a rebound month. The chart below shows that the historical returns for October, since 2007, has been nearly 4%. This number represents a compelling annualized gain of 56% that is much better than Apple’s own monthly average, let alone the S&P 500’s.\nFigure 4: AAPL average monthly returns since 2007.\nTo be fair, seasonality deteriorates during the holiday season (sell-the-news-pressures again?), only to recover viciously in the first few months of the new year. Still, those looking for some short-term gains might be encouraged by how well AAPL tends to perform at the start of Q4.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAPL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":749,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":829360812,"gmtCreate":1633475284249,"gmtModify":1633475284533,"author":{"id":"3575764061064234","authorId":"3575764061064234","name":"TKCat","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/99ee288f493a95ddc49f6f7bbeb74457","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575764061064234","authorIdStr":"3575764061064234"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cyber security companies need to show their business model","listText":"Cyber security companies need to show their business model","text":"Cyber security companies need to show their business model","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/829360812","repostId":"1194519706","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1194519706","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1633474388,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1194519706?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-06 06:53","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Palantir stock rallies 13% on $823 million Army contract","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1194519706","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Palantir Technologies Inc. shares rallied in the extended session Tuesday after the data-software co","content":"
Palantir Technologies Inc. shares rallied in the extended session Tuesday after the data-software company said it was selected for a U.S. Army intelligence program contract. Yet neither of the companies are in the prestigious Dow Jones Industrial Average — and for a good reason.
\n
BothAmazon(AMZN)andAlphabet(GOOGL)have stock prices in the quadruple digits. That makes them a no-go for the Dow, which weights its 30 components by share price rather than market value. So if either Amazon (currently priced north of $3,300 a share) or Alphabet (trading at just under $2,300) joined theDow, they would immediately have an outsized impact on the Dow.It wouldn't even be close: The priciest Dow stock currently isUnitedHealth(UNH), and at just over $400 a share, it makes up about 8% of the Dow's weighting. The case for splitting sharesBut if Amazon and Alphabet wanted to join the Dow, there's a solution to this price problem: The companies could announce a stock split, which increases the number of shares of the company has while cutting the price of each share to a more affordable level. It wouldn't change the companies' value.
\n
That's whatApple(AAPL)did in 2014, and it wasadded to the Dow in early 2015. Applesplit its stock again last year. Elon Musk'sTesla(TSLA)executed its ownstock splitlast year to make its surging stock more accessible to individual investors.
\n
Beyond the Dow question, splits can be compelling because some experts argue that having a more affordable price for a single share could attract even more investors. But that's admittedly less of an issue due to fractional trading, in which investors can buy a small piece of a company's shares through online brokers like Robinhood, Fidelity or Charles Schwab. There have been rumors about Amazon potentially announcing a split soon, especially now that Jeff Bezos is getting ready tohand over the CEO reinsto AWS headAndy Jassy. But Amazon didn't mention anything about a potential split when the companyreported earnings last week.Amazon was not immediately available for comment when asked by CNN Business if the company was considering a stock split, while a spokesperson for Alphabet declined to comment.High profile companies are 'split' on whether to splitThe pair of tech giants aren't the only companies trading at sky-high stock prices. Priceline ownerBooking(BKNG),Chipotle(CMG)andAutoZone(AZO)are also prominent companies in the S&P 500 with stock prices in excess of $1,000 a share.A Booking spokesperson, when asked by CNN Business about a future stock split, said the company has \"considered this but have not really seen the need to do so as of now.\"Chipotle chief financial officer Jack Hartung said in an email to CNN Business that \"we do not have any plans to split our stock at this time, but if we see an opportunity to enhance shareholder value and remove impediments to interested investors owning our stock, we will discuss the opportunity with our Board.\"
\n
AutoZone was not immediately available for comment.Meanwhile, several other high-profile companies in addition to Apple and Tesla have announced stock splits lately.Spice companyMcCormick(MKC)split its stock in December — its first split in about 20 years. Paint giantSherwin-Williams(SHW)split in April \"to make the stock more accessible to employees and a broader base of investors,\" senior vice president of investor relations James Jaye said on a conference call with analysts last month. And railroadCanadian Pacific(CP), which is in a bidding war with rivalCanadian National(CNI)forKansas City Southern(KSU), is preparing for a split later this month. The stock is currently trading around $375 and will split 5 for 1, which will lower the price to around $75 a share.\"The share split will encourage greater liquidity for CP's common shares and provide enhanced opportunities for ownership by a wider group of investors,\" said chief financial officer Nadeem Velani in a recent conference call with analysts.More trouble than they're worth? Not all company leaders are on board with stock splits. At least one major CEO has publicly called them a waste of time.PNC(PNC)CEO William Demchak said at the bank's shareholder meeting last month that \"there's not really a compelling case to be made for a stock split.\" One PNC share costs about $190.\"At one time, the conventional thinking was that when a company's share price got to a certain level, the company would split the stock as a way of foreshadowing expectations of growth and in order to make it more affordable for retail shareholders,\" he said. But Demchak added that \"all the stock split really does is increase costs because it doubles the cost of the mechanics that go into servicing every share.\"\"The split might result in some positive short-term public relations that brings about maybe a short-term bump,\" he added. \"But long term, it would appear that the cost is more than it's worth.\"
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Amazon and Alphabet may need to split their high-priced stocks
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Amazon and Alphabet may need to split their high-priced stocks\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-05-05 11:45 GMT+8 CNN\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
New York (CNN Business)Amazon and Google owner Alphabet are two of the most valuable companies on the planet. Priceline ownerBooking(BKNG),Chipotle(CMG)andAutoZone(AZO)are also prominent companies in the S&P 500 with stock prices in excess of $1,000 a share.A Booking spokesperson, when asked by CNN Business about a future stock split, said the company has \"considered this but have not really seen the need to do so as of now.\"Chipotle chief financial officer Jack Hartung said in an email to CNN Business that \"we do not have any plans to split our stock at this time, but if we see an opportunity to enhance shareholder value and remove impediments to interested investors owning our stock, we will discuss the opportunity with our Board.\"\nAutoZone was not immediately available for comment.Meanwhile, several other high-profile companies in addition to Apple and Tesla have announced stock splits lately.Spice companyMcCormick(MKC)split its stock in December — its first split in about 20 years. \"But long term, it would appear that the cost is more than it's worth.\"","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMZN":0.9,"GOOG":0.9,"GOOGL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":514,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":867860615,"gmtCreate":1633237843775,"gmtModify":1633237844070,"author":{"id":"3575764061064234","authorId":"3575764061064234","name":"TKCat","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/99ee288f493a95ddc49f6f7bbeb74457","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575764061064234","authorIdStr":"3575764061064234"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"There is no lousy stock only lousy price","listText":"There is no lousy stock only lousy price","text":"There is no lousy stock only lousy price","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/867860615","repostId":"2172614079","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":458,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":867568285,"gmtCreate":1633302393221,"gmtModify":1633302393464,"author":{"id":"3575764061064234","authorId":"3575764061064234","name":"TKCat","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/99ee288f493a95ddc49f6f7bbeb74457","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575764061064234","authorIdStr":"3575764061064234"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$1000 soon","listText":"$1000 soon","text":"$1000 soon","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/867568285","repostId":"1195986801","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1195986801","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1633237941,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1195986801?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-10-03 13:12","market":"sh","language":"en","title":"Why Tesla's Q3 Numbers Are 'Eye Popping' and Hard to Poke Holes In","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1195986801","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Tesla, Inc. reported Saturday record quarterly deliveries despite the surrounding turbulence.
