bank's latest policy statement.
\n
Stocks making the biggest moves premarket:
\n
McDonald's(MCD) – The restaurant chain reported adjusted quarterly earnings of $2.37 per share, compared to a $2.11 consensus estimate, with revenue also topping Wall Street forecasts. U.S. same-store sales surged 25.9% while global comps were up 40.5%, both above analyst estimates.
\n
Boeing(BA)– Boeing reported a surprise profit of 40 cents per share, with analysts having anticipated an 83 cents per share loss. Revenue also exceeded estimates, helped by higher jet deliveries and stronger results from the company’s defense and global service operations. Shares rallied 4.6% in the premarket.
\n
Pfizer(PFE) – Pfizer beat estimates by 10 cents with adjusted quarterly earnings of 97 cents per share, and revenue above estimates as well. The drugmaker also raised its full-year forecast, anticipating continued strong sales of its Covid-19 vaccine.
\n
Spotify(SPOT) – Spotify fell 3.2% in the premarket, despite reporting a smaller-than-expected loss for its latest quarter and better-than-expected revenue. The music-streaming service noted that its monthly active user numbers did fall below its prior guidance.
\n
Shopify(SHOP) – Shopify rose 1.3% in premarket trading, after reporting adjusted quarterly earnings of $2.24 per share compared to a 97 cent consensus estimate. The e-commerce platform provider continued to benefit from the boom in online shopping.
\n
Apple(AAPL) – Apple fell 0.7% in premarket trading after warning that the negative impact of the global chip shortage would worsen this quarter. That caution came after Apple reported quarterly earnings of $1.30 per share, beating the $1.01 consensus estimate, and seeing revenue surge past estimates as well.
\n
Alphabet(GOOGL) – Alphabet earned $27.26 per share for its latest quarter, well above the $19.34 consensus estimate. Revenue for the Google parent also trounced estimates amid the ongoing surge in online ad spending. Alphabet shares jumped 3.5% in premarket action.
\n
Microsoft(MSFT) – Microsoft beat estimates by 25 cents with quarterly earnings of $2.17 per share, while revenue beat estimates as well on continued strong growth in the company’s cloud computing business. Microsoft continues to benefit from the pandemic shift to working and learning from home. Microsoft added 1.2% in premarket trading.
\n
Starbucks(SBUX) – Starbucks earned an adjusted $1.01 per share for its latest quarter, beating the 78 cent consensus estimate, with revenue beating forecasts as well. The coffee chain did say higher costs for labor and supplies could remain for months to come and the stock fell 3% in the premarket.
\n
Visa(V) – Visa came in 14 cents ahead of consensus forecasts with an adjusted quarterly profit of $1.49 per share. The payment network’s revenue topped estimates as well. Visa benefited from the rebound in spending on travel and entertainment, but the stock slid 0.7% in premarket trading.
\n
Advanced Micro Devices(AMD) – AMD shares rose 3.1% in premarket action as the chipmaker forecast current-quarter revenue above analyst expectations. It predicts strong demand for chips used in gaming consoles and data centers, following a quarter that saw it beat Street estimates on the top and bottom lines.
\n
Mattel(MAT) – Mattel beat estimates for its latest quarter, and also raised its full-year forecast. The toymaker is expecting continued strong demand for its Barbie and Hot Wheels brands, even as it plans to raise prices. Shares surged 7% in the premarket.
\n
Teladoc Health(TDOC)– Teladoc lost 86 cents per share for its latest quarter, wider than the 56 cent loss that Wall Street had been expecting. Revenue did beat forecasts, but the stock is under pressure on weaker-than-expected membership growth for the telehealth service provider. The stock tumbled 10% in premarket trading.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Toplines Before US Market Open on Wednesday
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nToplines Before US Market Open on Wednesday\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Tiger Newspress
\n
2021-07-28 20:12
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
U.S. Futures Fluctuate
\n
\n
\n
investors await the FED's monetary policy decision
\n
\n
U.S. stock index futures were muted on Wednesday after mixed results from large technology and internet giants, with investors awaiting the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision later in the day.
\n
At 8:00 a.m. ET, Dow e-minis were down 9 points, or 0.03%, S&P 500 e-minis were up 3.50 points, or 0.08%, and Nasdaq 100 e-minis were up 44.00 points, or 0.29%.
\n

\n
Apple Inc slipped 0.7% in premarket trading after it forecast slowing revenue growth, as global chip shortage bit into its ability to sell Macs and iPads.read more
\n
Shares of Google parent Alphabet Inc jumped 3.8% after a surge in advertising spending powered its record revenue and profit.
\n
Microsoft Corpgained too, up 1.2%, as a boom in cloud services helped it beat Wall Street expectations for revenue and earnings.
\n
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will hold a news conference following the 2 p.m. EDT (1800 GMT) release of the central bank's latest policy statement.
\n
Stocks making the biggest moves premarket:
\n
McDonald's(MCD) – The restaurant chain reported adjusted quarterly earnings of $2.37 per share, compared to a $2.11 consensus estimate, with revenue also topping Wall Street forecasts. They declined to say which deals were under scrutiny.
\n
“The big issue for the SEC is to understand if the advisers are conflicted,” said one of the people.
\n
A spokesperson for the SEC did not respond to requests for comment.
\n
SPAC sponsors typically pay banks a 5.5% fee for underwriting the IPO, part of which is paid up front, with the rest paid upon completion of the merger.
\n
Underwriting banks can earn more fees if they also go on to represent the merger target and help the SPAC sponsor raise additional cash from private investors to finance the takeover.
\n
The SEC is examining potential conflicts in such situations when a bank works for both sides of the transaction and stands to earn a chunk of fees when the merger goes through.
\n
Critics say such arrangements could incentivise banks to talk up targets or play down potential problems, which could harm investors if the target company’s earnings underperform, or other regulatory or legal issues emerge following the merger.
\n
SPAC returns have trailed the S&P 500 and some SPACs have been accused by shareholders and government investigators of misleading disclosures..
\n
The sources declined to be named because the discussions are private. Regulatory requests for information do not necessarily imply wrongdoing.
\n
EXTRA DILIGENCE
\n
Under the rules, lawyers and accountants are required to disclose their fees in the SPAC’s regulatory filings, but banks are not. In its recent inquiries, the SEC has asked banks for more information on their payouts, the three sources said.
\n
The SEC has also asked the banks for information on the due diligence they performed on SPAC mergers, including when reviewing revenue growth projections and other disclosures made by the target companies, one of the sources said.
\n
The increased scrutiny has prompted some banks to review their processes and increase due diligence, the third source said, adding that some banks and sponsors were also more frequently separating the underwriting and advisory roles.
\n
SPACs have existed for decades, but over the past 18 months the deal structure has been popularized by high-profile sponsors and boosted by easy monetary conditions.
\n
A record nearly $100 billion was raised by U.S. SPACs in the first quarter of 2021, according to Dealogic, before dealmaking flagged amid market saturation and heightened SEC scrutiny.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; They declined to say which deals were under scrutiny.\n“The big issue for the SEC is to understand if the advisers are conflicted,” said one of the people.\nA spokesperson for the SEC did not respond to requests for comment.\nSPAC sponsors typically pay banks a 5.5% fee for underwriting the IPO, part of which is paid up front, with the rest paid upon completion of the merger.\nUnderwriting banks can earn more fees if they also go on to represent the merger target and help the SPAC sponsor raise additional cash from private investors to finance the takeover.\nThe SEC is examining potential conflicts in such situations when a bank works for both sides of the transaction and stands to earn a chunk of fees when the merger goes through.\nCritics say such arrangements could incentivise banks to talk up targets or play down potential problems, which could harm investors if the target company’s earnings underperform, or other regulatory or legal issues emerge following the merger.\nSPAC returns have trailed the S&P 500 and some SPACs have been accused by shareholders and government investigators of misleading disclosures..\nThe sources declined to be named because the discussions are private. Regulatory requests for information do not necessarily imply wrongdoing.\nEXTRA DILIGENCE\nUnder the rules, lawyers and accountants are required to disclose their fees in the SPAC’s regulatory filings, but banks are not. In its recent inquiries, the SEC has asked banks for more information on their payouts, the three sources said.\nThe SEC has also asked the banks for information on the due diligence they performed on SPAC mergers, including when reviewing revenue growth projections and other disclosures made by the target companies, one of the sources said.\nThe increased scrutiny has prompted some banks to review their processes and increase due diligence, the third source said, adding that some banks and sponsors were also more frequently separating the underwriting and advisory roles.\nSPACs have existed for decades, but over the past 18 months the deal structure has been popularized by high-profile sponsors and boosted by easy monetary conditions.\nA record nearly $100 billion was raised by U.S. SPACs in the first quarter of 2021, according to Dealogic, before dealmaking flagged amid market saturation and heightened SEC scrutiny.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":338,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":157259725,"gmtCreate":1625584754067,"gmtModify":1631891115822,"author":{"id":"3575893551650914","authorId":"3575893551650914","name":"kkyeong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/649b5a02b833e3e6fb1e2d18c9e3a245","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575893551650914","authorIdStr":"3575893551650914"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gd","listText":"Gd","text":"Gd","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/157259725","repostId":"2149936563","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":467,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":154949081,"gmtCreate":1625472794143,"gmtModify":1631892326752,"author":{"id":"3575893551650914","authorId":"3575893551650914","name":"kkyeong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/649b5a02b833e3e6fb1e2d18c9e3a245","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575893551650914","authorIdStr":"3575893551650914"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"good","listText":"good","text":"good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/154949081","repostId":"1109703914","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1109703914","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625464355,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1109703914?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-05 13:52","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is the Stock Market Open or Closed on Independence Day?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1109703914","media":"Thestreet","summary":"Independence Day in the U.S. is for many a picnic-and-beach day. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite added about 0.2% for its own record of 14,528.33.\nHomebuilder stocks moved higher after S&P Case-Shiller saidhome prices rose more than 14% in Aprilcompared to the prior year. Five U.S. cities, including Seattle, saw their largest annual increase on record. Shares of PulteGroup rose 2%.\nSemiconductor stocks gained strength later in the session, with Skyworks and Advanced Micro Devices climbing 4.5% and 2.8%, respectively. General Electric boosted the industrials sector, rising over 1% afterGoldman Sachs named the stock a top idea.\nThe market has churned out a series of record highs in recent weeks, but the gains have been relatively modest and some strategists have pointed to weak market breadth, measured by the performance of the average stock and the number of individual names making new highs, as a potential area of concern.\nOn Tuesday, there were slightly more declining stocks in the S&P 500 than those that rose during the session.\nHowever, the diminished breadth and volatility could simply be a natural pause during the summer months ahead of the busy earnings season in July, said Bill McMahon, the chief investment officer for active equity strategies at Charles Schwab Investment Management.\n\"I think people are in a little bit of a wait-and-see mode, so it's not surprising to see volatility decline and breadth worsen a tad,\" McMahon said, adding that concern about the spreading Delta variant of Covid-19 could also be weighing on stocks.\nShares of Morgan Stanley jumped more than 3% after the bank said it willdouble its quarterly dividend. The bank also announced a $12 billion stock buyback program. The announcement follows last week's stress tests by the Federal Reserve, which all 23 major banks passed. However, some other bank stocks gave up early gains and weighed on the broader indexes despite increasing their own payout plans.\nThe Conference Board's consumer confidence reading for June came in higher than expected, adding to the bullish readings about the economic recovery.\nWith the market entering the final trading days of June and the second quarter, the S&P 500 is on track to register its fifth straight month of gains. The Nasdaq is pacing for its seventh positive month in the last eight. The Dow, however, is in the red for the month, and on track to snap a four-month winning streak.\nSo far in 2021, the S&P 500 has added 14%, while the Nasdaq has added more than 12% with the Dow close behind.\nJPMorgan quantitative strategist Dubravkos Lakos-Bujas said on CNBC's \"Squawk Box\" that the market appeared to have near-term upside.\n\"The growth policy backdrop in our opinion still remains supportive for risk assets in general, certainly including equities. At the same time, the positioning is not really stretched to where we are in a problematic territory. So we do think there is still a runway. ... The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished with a gain of about 9 points after being up more than 100 points earlier in the session, closing at 34,292.29. So we do think there is still a runway. ... Now, speculation is growing among retail traders that it could be about to make a run back toward its highs.\n“Palantir saw above-averagecallactivity [Monday], about 90,000 contracts more than it trades on average, and the most action was seen in the 24-, 25- and 26-strike calls that expire this coming Friday. The 24-strike calls, for example, traded about 45,000 contracts. Those were trading for just under 70 cents,” Optimize Advisors CIO Michael Khouw said Monday on CNBC’s “Fast Money.”\nThose 24-strike calls break even at an underlying stock price of $24.70, or about 6% higher from where Palantir closed Monday’s session. More bullish traders who took a chance on the 26-strike calls would need to see a jump of more than 12% by Friday’s close to break even.\nPalantir was more than 2% higher in Tuesday’s session.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":106,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":340485545,"gmtCreate":1617453444087,"gmtModify":1634520896403,"author":{"id":"3575893551650914","authorId":"3575893551650914","name":"kkyeong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/649b5a02b833e3e6fb1e2d18c9e3a245","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575893551650914","authorIdStr":"3575893551650914"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good upupup","listText":"Good upupup","text":"Good upupup","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/340485545","repostId":"1176602902","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1176602902","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1617366683,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1176602902?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-02 20:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"U.S. added 916,000 jobs in March, above expectations","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1176602902","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"(April 2) Job growth boomed in March at the fastest pace since last summer as stronger economic grow","content":"
(April 2) Job growth boomed in March at the fastest pace since last summer as stronger economic growth and an aggressive vaccination effort pushed companies to step up hiring, the Labor Department reported Friday.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 916,000 for the month while the unemployment rate fell to 6%.

Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for an increase of 675,000 and an unemployment rate of 6%.

The report comes amid a slew of other indicators pointing to stronger growth as the U.S. tries to shake off the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Tesla boosted its performance by cutting features it said were unused or unneeded and raising U.S. vehicle prices.
\n
Shares of the world’s most valuable automaker rose 1.5% in extended trade.
\n
In a call with investors and analysts, Tesla executives said that volume production growth will depend on parts availability, and Musk cautioned the shortage of semiconductors will continue.
\n
“The global chip shortage situation remains quite serious,” Musk said.
\n
Still, Musk said Tesla expects to launch production this year of the Model Y SUV at factories under construction in Texas and Germany. He said the company expects battery cell suppliers to double production next year.
\n
Despite the pandemic and the supply chain crisis, Tesla posted record deliveries during the quarter, thanks to sales of cheaper models including Model 3 sedans and Model Ys.
\n
The carmaker, led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, said revenue jumped to $11.96 billion from $6.04 billion a year earlier, when its California factory was shut down for more than six weeks due to local lockdown orders to fight the pandemic.
\n
Analysts had expected revenue of about $11.3 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
\n
Excluding items, Tesla posted a profit of $1.45 per share, easily topping analyst expectations for a profit of 98 cents per share.
\n
Tesla said operating income rose with volume growth and cost reduction, which offset higher supply chain costs, lower regulatory credit revenue and other items including $23 million in losses on investment in cryptocurrency bitcoin.
\n
Tesla’s profitability has often relied on selling regulatory credits to other automakers, but in the second quarter, Tesla was profitable without these credits for the first time since the end of 2019. Tesla boosted its performance by cutting features it said were unused or unneeded and raising U.S. vehicle prices.\nShares of the world’s most valuable automaker rose 1.5% in extended trade.\nIn a call with investors and analysts, Tesla executives said that volume production growth will depend on parts availability, and Musk cautioned the shortage of semiconductors will continue.\n“The global chip shortage situation remains quite serious,” Musk said.\nStill, Musk said Tesla expects to launch production this year of the Model Y SUV at factories under construction in Texas and Germany. He said the company expects battery cell suppliers to double production next year.\nDespite the pandemic and the supply chain crisis, Tesla posted record deliveries during the quarter, thanks to sales of cheaper models including Model 3 sedans and Model Ys.\nThe carmaker, led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, said revenue jumped to $11.96 billion from $6.04 billion a year earlier, when its California factory was shut down for more than six weeks due to local lockdown orders to fight the pandemic.\nAnalysts had expected revenue of about $11.3 billion, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.\nExcluding items, Tesla posted a profit of $1.45 per share, easily topping analyst expectations for a profit of 98 cents per share.\nTesla said operating income rose with volume growth and cost reduction, which offset higher supply chain costs, lower regulatory credit revenue and other items including $23 million in losses on investment in cryptocurrency bitcoin.\nTesla’s profitability has often relied on selling regulatory credits to other automakers, but in the second quarter, Tesla was profitable without these credits for the first time since the end of 2019. Its GAAP net income was $1.14 billion in the second quarter. Revenue from the credits only totaled $354 million.\n“Tesla impressed with its numbers, as most of its revenue came from vehicle sales,” Jesse Cohen, senior analyst at Investing.com, said.\nCarmaker Stellantis expects to achieve its European carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions targets this year without environmental credits bought from Tesla.\nTesla said it said it has delayed the launch of the Semi truck program to 2022 to focus on starting factories and due to limited availability of battery cells and other parts this year.\nBut the company’s new 4680 batteries are not ready for volume production; executives said it was difficult to predict when technological challenges would be resolved.\nIn an aside, Musk said he “most likely will not be on earnings calls” going forward to discuss financial results with investors and analysts. These calls have been a colorful quarterly ritual Musk has used for discourses on Tesla technology, or to fire back at rivals or critics.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":482,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":123399028,"gmtCreate":1624408254564,"gmtModify":1631892326762,"author":{"id":"3575893551650914","authorId":"3575893551650914","name":"kkyeong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/649b5a02b833e3e6fb1e2d18c9e3a245","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575893551650914","authorIdStr":"3575893551650914"},"themes":[],"htmlText":" Good","listText":" Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/123399028","repostId":"2145066828","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":175,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":100590239,"gmtCreate":1619619908021,"gmtModify":1634211275793,"author":{"id":"3575893551650914","authorId":"3575893551650914","name":"kkyeong","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/649b5a02b833e3e6fb1e2d18c9e3a245","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575893551650914","authorIdStr":"3575893551650914"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/100590239","repostId":"1149389358","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1149389358","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1619617689,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1149389358?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-28 21:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Aurora Mobile rose more than 22%","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1149389358","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Aurora Mobile rose more than 22% after Oppenheimer raised its target price to $6, corresponding to 6","content":"
Aurora Mobile rose more than 22% after Oppenheimer raised its target price to $6, corresponding to 60% upside.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
