earnings season is set to pick up steam later this month, and investors can prepare by buying options for several major stocks, according to Goldman Sachs.\nThe firm’s derivatives research team published its weekly options plays, with a focus on established companies that report earnings in mid-July. The options suggested are call options, which give the trader the chance to buy a stock at a set price before the expiration date.\nWith call options, traders can make money when the stock price exceeds the option’s strike price. The risk to the trader is capped at the cost of the premium paid to purchase the option. Call options with strike prices that are close to or even below the current price tend to carry higher premiums.\nThe first pick from Goldman’s team isMorgan Stanley. The bank stock has been roughly flat over the past month and has a quiet outlook among options traders, creating upside in case of a positive surprise, Goldman said.\n“MS one month implied volatility of 27 is in its 36th percentile relative to the past two years and only 2 points above one month realized volatility. The stock has underperformed the broad S&P 500 by 7% over the past month (-1% vs XLF), driving up the potential for a reversion in performance following earnings,” the note said.Goldman recommended buying the $91 calls for Morgan Stanley that expire July 21. The stock was already trading slightly above that strike price on Friday.\nThe bank is scheduled to report its second quarter earnings on July 15.\nAnother interesting options play with upcoming earnings isPepsiCo. The snack and beverage company could report better-than-expected results on July 13 and forecast stronger growth in the months ahead, according to Goldman.\n“At the earnings call, [Goldman analyst Bonnie Herzog] sees potential for more bullish commentary for the rest of the year, while longer term, she sees PEP well positioned for growth, given its strong brand portfolio (esp. Frito Lay) and long-term opportunities in Beverages,” the note said.\nShares of PepsiCo have barely budged in 2021, and were trading just under $150 per share on Friday. Goldman recommended buying the $147 per share calls that expire on July 21.\n-CNBC’s Michael Bloom contributed to this report.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":492,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151331790,"gmtCreate":1625063453210,"gmtModify":1631891434717,"author":{"id":"3579320341894615","authorId":"3579320341894615","name":"vincent1wwb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3f63496cde8e0a73b0e84dbcd4eea6c2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579320341894615","authorIdStr":"3579320341894615"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good ","listText":"Good ","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/151331790","repostId":"1197424193","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1197424193","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625062326,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1197424193?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-30 22:12","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tom Lee raises 2021 forecast for the S&P 500, but warns of a tumultuous July","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1197424193","media":"CNBC","summary":"Fundstrat’s Tom Lee just hiked his S&P 500 forecast for the end of the year, but warned July could b","content":"<div>\n<p>Fundstrat’s Tom Lee just hiked his S&P 500 forecast for the end of the year, but warned July could be a rough ride.\nLee — known for correctly predicting the stock market’s dramatic ups and downs ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/30/tom-lee-raises-2021-forecast-for-the-sp-500-but-warns-of-a-tumultuous-july-.html\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The new level implies a more than 7% rally for the second half with the 500-stock average sitting around 4,290.\nLee expects the economy to continue to gain momentum, earnings to continue to beat estimates, strong credit and stable rates, the Federal Reserve to stick with its easy policies, fiscal stimulus from the White House and a normalizing of volatility.\n\nThe S&P 500 is up more than 14% this year, which Lee notes would be a solid gain for a full trading year, let alone 6 months. However, historical data shows that “strong markets stay strong,” Lee noted.\nData show that second half returns are the strongest in years when the first half is also the strongest.\n“In fact, since 1928, and ex-recessions (more impressive), this ranks as nearly one of the 10 best ever starts (technically would be #11),” Lee told clients.\nThe new Covid delta variant as well as the potential for a choppy July are the two main reasons for investors to say on their toes in this market, said Lee. He added that the delta variant shouldn’t cause another series of economic lockdowns.\nRocky July?\nFundstrat’s data analysis also shines light on the potential for a tough July ahead.\n“July could be a brutal month,” said Lee. “July returns are actually mostly poor and July returns are worse when 1H is strong.”\nWhen the S&P 500 is up more than 13% (which it is) in the first half, the month of July typically yields 0.4%, according to Fundstrat. Plus, the win-ratio is only 50%.\n“So July has a lower probability of rising and a lower overall return when 1H is >13%. This could be seen as a form of market payback. So we would default to expecting July to be somewhat choppy,” added Lee.\nStock picks from Lee\nDespite what could be a tumultuous July, Lee is sticking with his trusty group of “epicenter” stocks to finish out the year. The epicenter list is a group of companies that were hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic that Lee sees continuing to lead the market comeback.\nNames likeUber,Advance Auto Parts,Best Buy,MGM Resorts,Hilton Worldwide,Marriott International,Norwegian Cruise Line,Royal Caribbean,GapandGeneral Electricare so-called epicenter stocks.\nFundstrat forecasts epicenter stocks will drive bout half of the point gained in the second half. The rest of the points should be lead by energy and technology stocks.\nLee noted Amazon, Apple and Visa are up 6%, 2% and 4%, respectively, in 2021, but “if the S&P 500 is up +23% for the full year, shouldn’t some of these stocks have double-digit gains?,” Lee asked. “If so, then FAANG/Technology will play a big role in the points gained in 2H2021.”\nFundstrat also likesAmazon,Alphabet,Tesla,Biogen,Apple,Microsoft,PayPal,eBay,MicronandNvidiain his “Granny shots” basket of core stocks based on thematic and tactical portfolios.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":304,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":123782004,"gmtCreate":1624439282008,"gmtModify":1631891434727,"author":{"id":"3579320341894615","authorId":"3579320341894615","name":"vincent1wwb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3f63496cde8e0a73b0e84dbcd4eea6c2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579320341894615","authorIdStr":"3579320341894615"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Oo","listText":"Oo","text":"Oo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/123782004","repostId":"1146909987","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":309,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":167102048,"gmtCreate":1624250391684,"gmtModify":1631891434739,"author":{"id":"3579320341894615","authorId":"3579320341894615","name":"vincent1wwb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3f63496cde8e0a73b0e84dbcd4eea6c2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579320341894615","authorIdStr":"3579320341894615"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/167102048","repostId":"2145088542","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":977,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198982301,"gmtCreate":1620918676503,"gmtModify":1631891434752,"author":{"id":"3579320341894615","authorId":"3579320341894615","name":"vincent1wwb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3f63496cde8e0a73b0e84dbcd4eea6c2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579320341894615","authorIdStr":"3579320341894615"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"oic","listText":"oic","text":"oic","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/198982301","repostId":"1164484222","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1164484222","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620914209,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1164484222?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-13 21:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tech could have 10% more downside, but ‘don’t give up’ on the group, longtime investor Paul Meeks says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1164484222","media":"cnbc","summary":"Is tech’s turmoil here to stay?Paul Meeks, who ran the world’s largest technology fund during the la","content":"<div>\n<p>Is tech’s turmoil here to stay?Paul Meeks, who ran the world’s largest technology fund during the late 1990s, saidthe group’s recent pullbackcould worsen amid concerns around rising inflation and ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/13/tech-may-see-another-10percent-drop-but-dont-give-up-on-group-investor.html\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; earnings season is set to pick up steam later this month, and investors can prepare by buying options for several major stocks, according to Goldman Sachs.\nThe firm’s derivatives research team published its weekly options plays, with a focus on established companies that report earnings in mid-July. The options suggested are call options, which give the trader the chance to buy a stock at a set price before the expiration date.\nWith call options, traders can make money when the stock price exceeds the option’s strike price. The risk to the trader is capped at the cost of the premium paid to purchase the option. Call options with strike prices that are close to or even below the current price tend to carry higher premiums.\nThe first pick from Goldman’s team isMorgan Stanley. The bank stock has been roughly flat over the past month and has a quiet outlook among options traders, creating upside in case of a positive surprise, Goldman said.\n“MS one month implied volatility of 27 is in its 36th percentile relative to the past two years and only 2 points above one month realized volatility. The stock has underperformed the broad S&P 500 by 7% over the past month (-1% vs XLF), driving up the potential for a reversion in performance following earnings,” the note said.Goldman recommended buying the $91 calls for Morgan Stanley that expire July 21. The stock was already trading slightly above that strike price on Friday.\nThe bank is scheduled to report its second quarter earnings on July 15.\nAnother interesting options play with upcoming earnings isPepsiCo. The snack and beverage company could report better-than-expected results on July 13 and forecast stronger growth in the months ahead, according to Goldman.\n“At the earnings call, [Goldman analyst Bonnie Herzog] sees potential for more bullish commentary for the rest of the year, while longer term, she sees PEP well positioned for growth, given its strong brand portfolio (esp. Frito Lay) and long-term opportunities in Beverages,” the note said.\nShares of PepsiCo have barely budged in 2021, and were trading just under $150 per share on Friday. Goldman recommended buying the $147 per share calls that expire on July 21.\n-CNBC’s Michael Bloom contributed to this report.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":492,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":170825722,"gmtCreate":1626421814866,"gmtModify":1631891434663,"author":{"id":"3579320341894615","authorId":"3579320341894615","name":"vincent1wwb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3f63496cde8e0a73b0e84dbcd4eea6c2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579320341894615","authorIdStr":"3579320341894615"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good Tom Lee just hiked his S&P 500 forecast for the end of the year, but warned July could be a rough ride.\nLee — known for correctly predicting the stock market’s dramatic ups and downs during the pandemic — now expects the S&P 500 to reach 4,600 by the end of 2021, up from his previous forecast of 4,300. The new level implies a more than 7% rally for the second half with the 500-stock average sitting around 4,290.\nLee expects the economy to continue to gain momentum, earnings to continue to beat estimates, strong credit and stable rates, the Federal Reserve to stick with its easy policies, fiscal stimulus from the White House and a normalizing of volatility.\n\nThe S&P 500 is up more than 14% this year, which Lee notes would be a solid gain for a full trading year, let alone 6 months. However, historical data shows that “strong markets stay strong,” Lee noted.\nData show that second half returns are the strongest in years when the first half is also the strongest.\n“In fact, since 1928, and ex-recessions (more impressive), this ranks as nearly one of the 10 best ever starts (technically would be #11),” Lee told clients.\nThe new Covid delta variant as well as the potential for a choppy July are the two main reasons for investors to say on their toes in this market, said Lee. He added that the delta variant shouldn’t cause another series of economic lockdowns.\nRocky July?\nFundstrat’s data analysis also shines light on the potential for a tough July ahead.\n“July could be a brutal month,” said Lee. “July returns are actually mostly poor and July returns are worse when 1H is strong.”\nWhen the S&P 500 is up more than 13% (which it is) in the first half, the month of July typically yields 0.4%, according to Fundstrat. Plus, the win-ratio is only 50%.\n“So July has a lower probability of rising and a lower overall return when 1H is >13%. This could be seen as a form of market payback. So we would default to expecting July to be somewhat choppy,” added Lee.\nStock picks from Lee\nDespite what could be a tumultuous July, Lee is sticking with his trusty group of “epicenter” stocks to finish out the year. The epicenter list is a group of companies that were hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic that Lee sees continuing to lead the market comeback.\nNames likeUber,Advance Auto Parts,Best Buy,MGM Resorts,Hilton Worldwide,Marriott International,Norwegian Cruise Line,Royal Caribbean,GapandGeneral Electricare so-called epicenter stocks.\nFundstrat forecasts epicenter stocks will drive bout half of the point gained in the second half. The rest of the points should be lead by energy and technology stocks.\nLee noted Amazon, Apple and Visa are up 6%, 2% and 4%, respectively, in 2021, but “if the S&P 500 is up +23% for the full year, shouldn’t some of these stocks have double-digit gains?,” Lee asked. “If so, then FAANG/Technology will play a big role in the points gained in 2H2021.”\nFundstrat also likesAmazon,Alphabet,Tesla,Biogen,Apple,Microsoft,PayPal,eBay,MicronandNvidiain his “Granny shots” basket of core stocks based on thematic and tactical portfolios.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":304,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198982301,"gmtCreate":1620918676503,"gmtModify":1631891434752,"author":{"id":"3579320341894615","authorId":"3579320341894615","name":"vincent1wwb","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3f63496cde8e0a73b0e84dbcd4eea6c2","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3579320341894615","authorIdStr":"3579320341894615"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"oic","listText":"oic","text":"oic","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/198982301","repostId":"1164484222","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1164484222","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620914209,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1164484222?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-13 21:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tech could have 10% more downside, but ‘don’t give up’ on the group, longtime investor Paul Meeks says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1164484222","media":"cnbc","summary":"Is tech’s turmoil here to stay?Paul Meeks, who ran the world’s largest technology fund during the la","content":"<div>\n<p>Is tech’s turmoil here to stay?Paul Meeks, who ran the world’s largest technology fund during the late 1990s, saidthe group’s recent pullbackcould worsen amid concerns around rising inflation and ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/13/tech-may-see-another-10percent-drop-but-dont-give-up-on-group-investor.html\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html;
