This group is composed of all large-cap companies (market capitalizations above $10 billion) – big, stable businesses like these tend to offer more predictable cash flow and, at times, more resilience to volatility.</p>\n<p>In search of good deals, Wall Street Memes looked at some of the Nasdaq 100 stocks that have performed the worst over the past 52 weeks. Could negative momentum give way to bargain hunting and turn some of these stocks into winners within the foreseeable future?</p>\n<p>Below are three potential buy-the-dip ideas backed by Wall Street experts.</p>\n<p><b>3# Activision Blizzard - $ATVI</b></p>\n<p>The Santa Monica-based video game company&nbsp;<b>Activision Blizzard</b>&nbsp;develops and publishes interactive entertainment content and services worldwide. Some of the most famous games the company has produced include Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, the Diablo series, and Guitar Hero. But the company has been struggling all this year. ATVI stock, which is down 34% year-to-date, is one of the biggest Nasdaq 100 losers in 2021.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/40e950e08cc70365c4cf0f96870517ec\" tg-width=\"1200\" tg-height=\"800\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 1: Activision Blizzard's gamming event.</span></p>\n<p>Activision Blizzard currently sports a $44 billion market cap and has solid fundamentals; impressively, the company has beat earnings estimates every quarter since 2018. However, in the past quarter, even though it reported both earnings and revenue beats, light guidance for the upcoming year caused the stock to crater. Since November 2, shares are down 23%.</p>\n<p>In addition, throughout this year, the company has faced&nbsp;internal employee issues, with many workers pointing to repeated instances of discrimination and harassment. Activision's low morale ended up causing somedelaysin key game releases.</p>\n<p>Despite a troubled 2021, and despite several post-earnings downgrades this last quarter, Wall Street is still overall bullish on ATVI stock. Consensus for ATVI is a “moderate buy” with an average price target of $90 – that implies a strong, 52% upside ahead.</p>\n<p>Truist Financial analyst Matthew Thornton&nbsp;expects a CEO change&nbsp;amid recent developments. Thornton believes that Bobby Kotick, the current CEO, keeping his post would only maintain the uncertainty around the company’s morale and productivity. However, he is still bullish on the company’s fundamentals and reiterates a buy recommendation on the stock and a price target of $74 —representing a 24% upside.</p>\n<p><b>2# Peloton Interactive - $PTON</b></p>\n<p>This company, which provides interactive fitness products and subscriptions, was a pandemic darling last year; 2021 has been a different story, however, and the stock has been struggling while economies have gradually reopened.<b>Peloton</b>&nbsp;stock&nbsp;is down 72% year-to-date, sitting at about $40 as of our last check.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/17281144574760fa3cad4d481951a025\" tg-width=\"1240\" tg-height=\"827\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 2: Peloton when Nasdaq listed.</span></p>\n<p>Despite the poor momentum, Wall Street believes that this could be a good time to invest in Peloton stock. The $13 billion market cap company has a “moderate buy” consensus and a $78 price target, which implies a 70% upside. Those figures are based on 26 reports issued over the last three months.</p>\n<p>The&nbsp;most recent Wall Street rating&nbsp;provided came from Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Woronka. He initiated coverage on PTON with a $76 price target and a “buy” recommendation. He justified this rating with a straightforward analysis of Peloton’s earnings potential in a normalized (i.e., non-pandemic) economic environment.</p>\n<p>Lastly, famed investor Cathie Wood&nbsp;purchased a sizable batch of PTON&nbsp;stock in late August of this year. Wood’s Ark fund bought the dip as the company missed Q4 earnings estimates, scooping up 1.7 million shares of PTON. However, as PTON stock kept dipping, Wood’s Ark fund ended up dumping almost half of its shares a few months later, right before PTON ended up plummeting 40% after fiscal first-quarter earnings revealed poor guidance ahead.</p>\n<p><b>1# MercadoLibre - $MELI</b></p>\n<p>Buenos Aires-based MercadoLibre&nbsp;is an e-commerce marketplace and fintech provider (the latter via MercadoPago, an online payment platform) that serves much of Latin and South America. MELI is also one of the Nasdaq 100’s worst performers of the year. The company – along with the rest of the e-commerce sector - was a big beneficiary of pandemic “stay-at-home” trends. MELI shares jumped an eye watering 312% between March 2020 and February 2021.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/459ede5a9dd61c0aed780a29765b1bd6\" tg-width=\"1000\" tg-height=\"666\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 3: MercadoLibre debut on Nasdaq</span></p>\n<p>The Argentine company, which has a market capitalization of $57 billion, increased its revenues by up to triple digits during the apex of the pandemic, but those results may have worked to set the bar too high for the company. Last quarter, the company missed revenue estimates for the first time since 2018. Plus, there was news that MercadoLibre would be&nbsp;selling 1 million shares&nbsp;for general corporate purposes.Higher interest rates hurting growth stocks&nbsp;in general also helped to bring down MELI’s shares, which have tanked 32% since early November.</p>\n<p>Even with all the bearishness surrounding MELI’s recent performance, the Wall Street consensus on the stock is bullish, predicting an 80% rally ahead. The stock currently has a “strong buy” rating and a target price of $2,187 based on 8 analyses, most of which were provided<i>after</i>the company's fiscal third-quarter earnings.</p>\n<p>One of those bulls is Barclays analyst Trevor Young, who&nbsp;raised MELI's price target&nbsp;from $2,100 to $2,200, reiterating his recommendation to buy the stock after its third-quarter results. The battle royale title, which was optimized for lower-end devices, quickly became one of the most popular mobile games in Southeast Asia and Latin America, and was the most-downloaded mobile game in the world in both 2019 and 2020, according to App Annie.</p>\n<p><i>Free Fire's</i>success significantly boosted Garena's margins, since it wasn't a licensed game like the publisher's earlier titles. As a result, Sea's digital entertainment segment (which houses Garena) started to generate even stronger adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) growth -- a sharp contrast to the company's e-commerce segment, which has been growing more unprofitable.<img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/62a40cb0cfc26f2711593eeadadb17b1\" tg-width=\"794\" tg-height=\"200\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">Therefore, Sea clearly needs&nbsp;<i>Free Fire</i>&nbsp;to keep generating that higher-margin revenue to subsidize the expansion of the Shopee e-commerce platform. That's a hefty burden to place on a 4-year-old mobile game.</p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Garena's top priorities will be to maintain&nbsp;<i>Free Fire's</i>momentum, expand the franchise with new versions (like<i>Free Fire MAX</i>for higher-end devices), and launch more self-developed titles. Failing to achieve any of those goals could cause Sea's adjusted EBITDA to plummet.</p>\n<p>2. Shopee is gaining ground fast in Latin America</p>\n<p>When Shopee expanded into Brazil two years ago, skeptics predicted that it would be crushed by&nbsp;<b>MercadoLibre</b>(NASDAQ:MELI), the&nbsp;800-pound gorilla&nbsp;of Latin American e-commerce. However, Shopee launched aggressive marketing campaigns, offered steep discounts, and expanded into other Latin American markets.</p>\n<p>As a result, Shopee actually overtook MercadoLibre as the most-downloaded shopping app in Latin America earlier this year. By the end of August, Shopee's monthly active users (MAUs) in Latin America had risen 136% year over year to more than 30 million, according to Apptopia. MercadoLibre ended last quarter with 78.7 million unique active users.</p>\n<p>Sea doesn't break out its Latin American results yet, but it's likely still racking up big losses as it expands through MercadoLibre's backyard. Last quarter, Sea said Shopee's adjusted EBITDA loss of $0.41 per order remained unchanged sequentially and year over year across all of its markets -- but narrowed by both metrics in its core Southeast Asia and Taiwan market.</p>\n<p>In other words, Sea needs to continue narrowing Shopee's losses in Southeast Asia and Taiwan -- all while maintaining&nbsp;<i>Free Fire's</i>growth -- to stabilize its adjusted EBITDA as it expands its massive ecosystem.</p>\n<p>3. Sea Limited is evolving into a digital bank</p>\n<p>Shopee isn't Sea's only unprofitable business. Its digital financial services segment, which houses the Sea&nbsp;Money payments platform and other fintech units, is losing money too. This business was also granted a full digital banking license in Singapore last December.</p>\n<p>Sea launched the digital financial services segment in the fourth quarter of 2019, and both the total payment volume and the number of quarterly paying users on its mobile wallet app have skyrocketed in the two years since. Unfortunately, its losses are also widening:<img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/40d393bcaa2441a53a52b8f0e431b310\" tg-width=\"791\" tg-height=\"241\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">Once again, this highlights Sea's overwhelming dependence on&nbsp;<i>Free Fire</i>&nbsp;to do the heavy lifting and support its other, unprofitable businesses.</p>\n<p>A wobbly (but promising) business model</p>\n<p>These three points show us just how unusual Sea's business model is: It's an e-commerce and fintech giant that (for now) relies on the profits from a single mobile game to offset the staggering losses of its other high-growth businesses.</p>\n<p>On the bright side, Sea also raised about $6 billion in fresh capital earlier this year with a big secondary stock and convertible debt offering -- and it ended&nbsp;the third quarter&nbsp;with $11.1 billion in cash and equivalents on the books. Therefore, Sea can afford to keep bleeding red ink for the foreseeable future.</p>\n<p>I believe Sea still has plenty of growth potential, but it will remain a very volatile stock. The battle royale title, which was optimized for lower-end devices, quickly became one of the most popular mobile games in Southeast Asia and Latin America, and was the most-downloaded mobile game in the world in both 2019 and 2020, according to App Annie.\nFree Fire'ssuccess significantly boosted Garena's margins, since it wasn't a licensed game like the publisher's earlier titles. As a result, Sea's digital entertainment segment (which houses Garena) started to generate even stronger adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) growth -- a sharp contrast to the company's e-commerce segment, which has been growing more unprofitable.Therefore, Sea clearly needs Free Fire to keep generating that higher-margin revenue to subsidize the expansion of the Shopee e-commerce platform. That's a hefty burden to place on a 4-year-old mobile game.\nLooking ahead, Garena's top priorities will be to maintain Free Fire'smomentum, expand the franchise with new versions (likeFree Fire MAXfor higher-end devices), and launch more self-developed titles. Failing to achieve any of those goals could cause Sea's adjusted EBITDA to plummet.\n2. Shopee is gaining ground fast in Latin America\nWhen Shopee expanded into Brazil two years ago, skeptics predicted that it would be crushed by MercadoLibre(NASDAQ:MELI), the 800-pound gorilla of Latin American e-commerce. However, Shopee launched aggressive marketing campaigns, offered steep discounts, and expanded into other Latin American markets.\nAs a result, Shopee actually overtook MercadoLibre as the most-downloaded shopping app in Latin America earlier this year. By the end of August, Shopee's monthly active users (MAUs) in Latin America had risen 136% year over year to more than 30 million, according to Apptopia. MercadoLibre ended last quarter with 78.7 million unique active users.\nSea doesn't break out its Latin American results yet, but it's likely still racking up big losses as it expands through MercadoLibre's backyard. Last quarter, Sea said Shopee's adjusted EBITDA loss of $0.41 per order remained unchanged sequentially and year over year across all of its markets -- but narrowed by both metrics in its core Southeast Asia and Taiwan market.\nIn other words, Sea needs to continue narrowing Shopee's losses in Southeast Asia and Taiwan -- all while maintaining Free Fire'sgrowth -- to stabilize its adjusted EBITDA as it expands its massive ecosystem.\n3. Sea Limited is evolving into a digital bank\nShopee isn't Sea's only unprofitable business. Its digital financial services segment, which houses the Sea Money payments platform and other fintech units, is losing money too. This business was also granted a full digital banking license in Singapore last December.\nSea launched the digital financial services segment in the fourth quarter of 2019, and both the total payment volume and the number of quarterly paying users on its mobile wallet app have skyrocketed in the two years since. Unfortunately, its losses are also widening:Once again, this highlights Sea's overwhelming dependence on Free Fire to do the heavy lifting and support its other, unprofitable businesses.\nA wobbly (but promising) business model\nThese three points show us just how unusual Sea's business model is: It's an e-commerce and fintech giant that (for now) relies on the profits from a single mobile game to offset the staggering losses of its other high-growth businesses.\nOn the bright side, Sea also raised about $6 billion in fresh capital earlier this year with a big secondary stock and convertible debt offering -- and it ended the third quarter with $11.1 billion in cash and equivalents on the books. Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.</p>\n<p>Instead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.</p>\n<p>As a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.</p>\n<p>This “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.</p>\n<p>Both the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.</p>\n<p>Clearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”</p>\n<p>As someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know do<i>not</i>want to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.</p>\n<p>What Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.</p>\n<p>The good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.</p>\n<p>This is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.</p>\n<p>However, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.</p>\n<p><b>Taking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential</b></p>\n<p>I’m talking about&nbsp;<b>Nio, Inc.</b>(NYSE:<b>NIO</b>). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on my<b><i>Platinum Growth Club</i></b>Model Portfolio back in February.</p>\n<p>The company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.</p>\n<p>The company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies like<b>NVIDIA Corporation</b>(NASDAQ:<b>NVDA</b>), another one of my<b><i>Platinum Growth Club</i></b>Model Portfolio stocks. NIO plans to use the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip for its electric vehicles that will provide autonomous driving capabilities. The NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered supercomputer, which is being called Adam, will be launched in the ET7 sedan in China in 2022. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.</p>\n<p>Now, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.</p>\n<p>With the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.</p>\n<p>That means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.</p>\n<p>Shares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”</p>\n<p>Interestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.\nInstead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.\nAs a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.\nThis “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.\nBoth the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.\nClearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”\nAs someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.\nWhat Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.\nThe good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.\nThis is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.\nHowever, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.\nTaking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential\nI’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio back in February.\nThe company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.\nThe company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies likeNVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA), another one of myPlatinum Growth ClubModel Portfolio stocks. NIO plans to use the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip for its electric vehicles that will provide autonomous driving capabilities. The NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered supercomputer, which is being called Adam, will be launched in the ET7 sedan in China in 2022. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.\nNow, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.\nWith the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.\nThat means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.\nShares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”\nInterestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Activision's low morale ended up causing somedelaysin key game releases.</p>\n<p>Despite a troubled 2021, and despite several post-earnings downgrades this last quarter, Wall Street is still overall bullish on ATVI stock. Consensus for ATVI is a “moderate buy” with an average price target of $90 – that implies a strong, 52% upside ahead.</p>\n<p>Truist Financial analyst Matthew Thornton&nbsp;expects a CEO change&nbsp;amid recent developments. Thornton believes that Bobby Kotick, the current CEO, keeping his post would only maintain the uncertainty around the company’s morale and productivity. However, he is still bullish on the company’s fundamentals and reiterates a buy recommendation on the stock and a price target of $74 —representing a 24% upside.</p>\n<p><b>2# Peloton Interactive - $PTON</b></p>\n<p>This company, which provides interactive fitness products and subscriptions, was a pandemic darling last year; 2021 has been a different story, however, and the stock has been struggling while economies have gradually reopened.<b>Peloton</b>&nbsp;stock&nbsp;is down 72% year-to-date, sitting at about $40 as of our last check.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/17281144574760fa3cad4d481951a025\" tg-width=\"1240\" tg-height=\"827\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 2: Peloton when Nasdaq listed.</span></p>\n<p>Despite the poor momentum, Wall Street believes that this could be a good time to invest in Peloton stock. The $13 billion market cap company has a “moderate buy” consensus and a $78 price target, which implies a 70% upside. Those figures are based on 26 reports issued over the last three months.</p>\n<p>The&nbsp;most recent Wall Street rating&nbsp;provided came from Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Woronka. He initiated coverage on PTON with a $76 price target and a “buy” recommendation. He justified this rating with a straightforward analysis of Peloton’s earnings potential in a normalized (i.e., non-pandemic) economic environment.</p>\n<p>Lastly, famed investor Cathie Wood&nbsp;purchased a sizable batch of PTON&nbsp;stock in late August of this year. Wood’s Ark fund bought the dip as the company missed Q4 earnings estimates, scooping up 1.7 million shares of PTON. However, as PTON stock kept dipping, Wood’s Ark fund ended up dumping almost half of its shares a few months later, right before PTON ended up plummeting 40% after fiscal first-quarter earnings revealed poor guidance ahead.</p>\n<p><b>1# MercadoLibre - $MELI</b></p>\n<p>Buenos Aires-based MercadoLibre&nbsp;is an e-commerce marketplace and fintech provider (the latter via MercadoPago, an online payment platform) that serves much of Latin and South America. MELI is also one of the Nasdaq 100’s worst performers of the year. The company – along with the rest of the e-commerce sector - was a big beneficiary of pandemic “stay-at-home” trends. MELI shares jumped an eye watering 312% between March 2020 and February 2021.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/459ede5a9dd61c0aed780a29765b1bd6\" tg-width=\"1000\" tg-height=\"666\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 3: MercadoLibre debut on Nasdaq</span></p>\n<p>The Argentine company, which has a market capitalization of $57 billion, increased its revenues by up to triple digits during the apex of the pandemic, but those results may have worked to set the bar too high for the company. Plus, there was news that MercadoLibre would be&nbsp;selling 1 million shares&nbsp;for general corporate purposes.Higher interest rates hurting growth stocks&nbsp;in general also helped to bring down MELI’s shares, which have tanked 32% since early November.</p>\n<p>Even with all the bearishness surrounding MELI’s recent performance, the Wall Street consensus on the stock is bullish, predicting an 80% rally ahead. The stock currently has a “strong buy” rating and a target price of $2,187 based on 8 analyses, most of which were provided<i>after</i>the company's fiscal third-quarter earnings.</p>\n<p>One of those bulls is Barclays analyst Trevor Young, who&nbsp;raised MELI's price target&nbsp;from $2,100 to $2,200, reiterating his recommendation to buy the stock after its third-quarter results. As a result, Sea's digital entertainment segment (which houses Garena) started to generate even stronger adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) growth -- a sharp contrast to the company's e-commerce segment, which has been growing more unprofitable.<img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/62a40cb0cfc26f2711593eeadadb17b1\" tg-width=\"794\" tg-height=\"200\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\">Therefore, Sea clearly needs&nbsp;<i>Free Fire</i>&nbsp;to keep generating that higher-margin revenue to subsidize the expansion of the Shopee e-commerce platform. That's a hefty burden to place on a 4-year-old mobile game.</p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Garena's top priorities will be to maintain&nbsp;<i>Free Fire's</i>momentum, expand the franchise with new versions (like<i>Free Fire MAX</i>for higher-end devices), and launch more self-developed titles. Failing to achieve any of those goals could cause Sea's adjusted EBITDA to plummet.</p>\n<p>2. Shopee is gaining ground fast in Latin America</p>\n<p>When Shopee expanded into Brazil two years ago, skeptics predicted that it would be crushed by&nbsp;<b>MercadoLibre</b>(NASDAQ:MELI), the&nbsp;800-pound gorilla&nbsp;of Latin American e-commerce. However, Shopee launched aggressive marketing campaigns, offered steep discounts, and expanded into other Latin American markets.</p>\n<p>As a result, Shopee actually overtook MercadoLibre as the most-downloaded shopping app in Latin America earlier this year. By the end of August, Shopee's monthly active users (MAUs) in Latin America had risen 136% year over year to more than 30 million, according to Apptopia. MercadoLibre ended last quarter with 78.7 million unique active users.</p>\n<p>Sea doesn't break out its Latin American results yet, but it's likely still racking up big losses as it expands through MercadoLibre's backyard. Last quarter, Sea said Shopee's adjusted EBITDA loss of $0.41 per order remained unchanged sequentially and year over year across all of its markets -- but narrowed by both metrics in its core Southeast Asia and Taiwan market.</p>\n<p>In other words, Sea needs to continue narrowing Shopee's losses in Southeast Asia and Taiwan -- all while maintaining&nbsp;<i>Free Fire's</i>growth -- to stabilize its adjusted EBITDA as it expands its massive ecosystem.</p>\n<p>3. Sea Limited is evolving into a digital bank</p>\n<p>Shopee isn't Sea's only unprofitable business. Its digital financial services segment, which houses the Sea&nbsp;Money payments platform and other fintech units, is losing money too. This business was also granted a full digital banking license in Singapore last December.</p>\n<p>Sea launched the digital financial services segment in the fourth quarter of 2019, and both the total payment volume and the number of quarterly paying users on its mobile wallet app have skyrocketed in the two years since. Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.</p>\n<p>Instead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.</p>\n<p>As a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.</p>\n<p>This “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.</p>\n<p>Both the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.</p>\n<p>Clearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”</p>\n<p>As someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know do<i>not</i>want to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.</p>\n<p>What Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.</p>\n<p>The good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.</p>\n<p>This is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.</p>\n<p>However, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.</p>\n<p><b>Taking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential</b></p>\n<p>I’m talking about&nbsp;<b>Nio, Inc.</b>(NYSE:<b>NIO</b>). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong. It’s why I put NIO on my<b><i>Platinum Growth Club</i></b>Model Portfolio back in February.</p>\n<p>The company boasts that it is the “next-generation car company,” as it designs and manufactures electric vehicles that utilize the latest technologies in connectivity, autonomous driving and artificial intelligence (AI). NIO currently offers an electric seven-seater SUV (ES8) and a five-seater electric SUV (ES6) and recently introduced an attractive electric sedan (ET7). Its vehicles utilize NOMI, an in-vehicle artificial intelligence assistant.</p>\n<p>The company is also partnering with cutting-edge chip companies like<b>NVIDIA Corporation</b>(NASDAQ:<b>NVDA</b>), another one of my<b><i>Platinum Growth Club</i></b>Model Portfolio stocks. NIO plans to use the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip for its electric vehicles that will provide autonomous driving capabilities. The NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-powered supercomputer, which is being called Adam, will be launched in the ET7 sedan in China in 2022. Announcements like this are very positive, so NIO has been stealing some of Tesla’s thunder lately.</p>\n<p>Now, it’s important to note that NIO was bailed out by the Chinese government. Last year, the Chinese government injected $1 billion and now has a 24% ownership in the company. The reality is that China wants to dominate at least five major industries by 2025, and NIO is now its ticket to dominate EV manufacturing.</p>\n<p>With the backing of the Chinese government, some Wall Street firms are eager to help NIO by issuing new debt or equity. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if NIO surpasses Tesla, which is currently number-two in China, for market share in the upcoming years.</p>\n<p>That means, if you missed Tesla’s parabolic run like I did, NIO is essentially giving us a “second chance” to make money in a potentially explosive electric vehicle company.</p>\n<p>Shares of NIO climbed nearly 13% since the company’s June 4 announcement of its May delivery report and positive analyst comments, while Tesla shares rose almost 3%. First, NIO revealed that the global chip shortage is starting to take a toll on its business. NIO only delivered 6,711 vehicles in May, or a 5.5% decline from April’s deliveries. Company management noted that deliveries were “adversely impacted for several days due to the volatility of semiconductor supply and certain logistical adjustments.”</p>\n<p>Interestingly, despite the month-to-month dip, NIO’s deliveries were still up 95.3% year-over-year. Priced at $149,990, it was to feature a range of 520 miles, thanks to its innovative 4680 battery cells, 1,100 horsepower and the ability to speed from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.\nInstead, the company has begun delivering a new Model S Plaid that has only a 390-mile range and 1,020 horsepower, though it still sprints to from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just two seconds.\nAs a way to “sugar coat” its flip flop, Tesla said the Model S Plaid is just as fast as the Model S Plaid Plus and $20,000 cheaper. Humm.\nThis “bait and switch” has some Tesla fans worried, since they had deposits on the Model S Plaid Plus and wanted the innovative 4680 battery cells that Tesla had been touting as the key to longer range and more power. Essentially, the 4680 battery cells were the latest great Tesla development, since they were the first batteries to also be a structural component that supposedly allowed Tesla to lower the weight of its vehicles.\nBoth the company’s Austin and Berlin manufacturing plants now under construction are supposed to also be making the 4680 batteries for new Tesla vehicles. If there is a problem with the engineering associated with utilizing the 4680 batteries or making them a structural component, then Tesla has grossly miscalculated, which is now worrying investors.\nClearly something happened to delay the 4680 batteries that were supposed to provide Tesla with a competitive and engineering edge. For Tesla’s sake, I hope they figure out the problems associated with their much hyped 4680 battery cells, otherwise concerns about its two new manufacturing plants will emerge, as well as the stock losing more of its “mojo.”\nAs someone who owns more than a few high-performance vehicles, I can tell you that the engineering geeks I know donotwant to get a new Model S Plaid instead of a Model S Plaid Plus and will likely ask for their deposits back.\nWhat Tesla did is like Ferrari or Porsche telling its customers that one of their much-hyped new performance models is now not being sold because the base model was just as good! Car fanatics, like myself, like the latest and greatest engineering tidbits, so we would rather cancel our orders versus settle for a base model.\nThe good news for Tesla is that its China sales in May resurged to 21,936, up sharply from 11,671 in April. The company’s sales tend to spike at the end of each quarter. For example, Tesla sold 35,478 vehicles in China in March, which was the strongest month ever in China.\nThis is raising expectations for very strong China sales in June, especially now that the Model Y is being manufactured in Shanghai. Interestingly, since most Chinese Teslas are now made with iron phosphate batteries, these vehicles have lower range than its lithium cobalt vehicles, but its iron phosphate vehicles are cheaper and now increasingly being exported to Europe.\nHowever, I’m convinced another electric vehicle (EV) company will eventually displace Tesla as the biggest manufacturer of EVs in China.\nTaking Advantage of the EV Revolution’s Profit Potential\nI’m talking about Nio, Inc.(NYSE:NIO). The reality is that this company is on the verge of dominating the EV market in China and Hong Kong.
