Buffett said Wednesday he will donate $4.1 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway shares to five foundations, and that he will resign as the trustee at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.\nThis year’s donation marked the halfway point for the 90-year-old Oracle of Omaha, who in 2006 pledged to give away all of his Berkshire shares through annual gifts to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, Sherwood Foundation, Howard G. Buffett Foundation and NoVo Foundation. Back then, Buffett owned 474,998 Berkshire A shares. Today, he said he owns 238,624 shares, worth about $100 billion.\n“Today is a milestone for me,” Buffett said in a statement. “In 2006, I pledged to distribute all of my Berkshire Hathaway shares — more than 99% of my net worth — to philanthropy. With today’s $4.1 billion distribution, I’m halfway there.”\nBuffett’s resignation as Gates Foundation trustee comes as the charitable organization faces a tumultuous time with the divorce of its two founders.\n“For years I have been a trustee — an inactive trustee at that — of only one recipient of my funds, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMG). I am now resigning from that post, just as I have done at all corporate boards other than Berkshire’s,” Buffett said. “The CEO of BMG is Mark Suzman, an outstanding recent selection who has my full support. My goals are 100% in sync with those of the foundation, and my physical participation is in no way needed to achieve these goals.”\nBill Gates, co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft, and his wife, Melinda French Gates,announced their divorce in May.The couple along with Buffett were creators of the Giving Pledge, a program that requires participants to give away more than half of their wealth.\nBuffett said his 16 annual contributions to the five foundations over the years were worth $41 billion when disbursed. Buffett is Berkshire’s largest shareholder, owning about 39% of the Class A shares, according to FactSet.\nBerkshire A shares have rebounded more than 20% to hit a record high in 2021 as many of the conglomerate’s business recovered better than expected from the pandemic hit.\n“I’m optimistic. Though naysayers abound — as they have throughout my life — America’s best days most certainly lie ahead,” Buffett said. “Philanthropy will continue to pair human talent with financial resources. So, too, will business and government. Each force has its particular strengths and weaknesses. Combined, they will make the world a better place — a much better place — for future generations.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BRK.A":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1282,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":123357393,"gmtCreate":1624410257812,"gmtModify":1631890761916,"author":{"id":"3581644254750981","authorId":"3581644254750981","name":"xCoCx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f86084cef71334b5032458f0085d143e","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581644254750981","authorIdStr":"3581644254750981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/123357393","repostId":"2145809052","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2061,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":120480694,"gmtCreate":1624332141118,"gmtModify":1631890761929,"author":{"id":"3581644254750981","authorId":"3581644254750981","name":"xCoCx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f86084cef71334b5032458f0085d143e","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581644254750981","authorIdStr":"3581644254750981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/120480694","repostId":"1179870522","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1179870522","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624287984,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1179870522?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-21 23:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"A correction could be coming. And unlike some recent market drops, it may take time for stocks to make a full recovery, he said.\nExperts say you don't have to let a dip in the markets derail your retirement.\nWhen it comes to your 401(k), there's one piece of advice most financial experts agree on: Stick to your goals.\nPrioritize your near-term goals\nAs you evaluate your 401(k) and other investments in turbulent times, make sure to consider how soon you will need the money.\n\"Stock ownership should always be for a long-term hold: five-plus years,\" said financial advisor Scott Hanson, a certified financial planner and co-founder of Allworth Financial in Sacramento, California.\nIf you have money tied up in stocks that's earmarked for your child's tuition next semester or for a down payment for a house, now is the time to sell, Hanson said.\nFor goals with a time horizon of five years or less, consider moving that money to so-called stable value or fixed-income funds, said CFP Ted Jenkin, CEO of Oxygen Financial in Atlanta\nRemember your long-term time horizon\nWhen making decisions as to what actions fit you best, your age is key.\n\"If you're 70 years old, you have no business having 70% of your money in the stock market,\" Jenkin said. \"You should have 70% of your money in fixed income.\"\nMarguerita Cheng, a CFP and CEO of Blue Ocean Global Wealth in Gaithersburg, Maryland, said she encourages investors to allocate their investments in buckets.\nMoney for short-term goals should be in safe investments, while funds for intermediate and long-term needs can gradually get more risky.\nRetirees, in particular, may want to put money for required minimum distributions in a stable value fund or short-term bond fund, Cheng said, where they likely will not have to sell at a loss. Those mandatory distributions start when you reach age 72.\nBuy the dip\nDown or volatile markets provide an opportunity to buy stocks when prices are lower.\nThat means you want to keep contributing to your 401(k) or other retirement funds on a fixed schedule, Cheng said.\n\"If they're not comfortable, they can pare down the risk in their existing dollars, but keep their ongoing contributions the way they are,\" Cheng said.\nAnother tip to consider when markets are down: Ask your payroll department to take more out of your paycheck to put in your 401(k) for one pay period, Jenkin said.\nAs long as you have money in savings to pay your bills, putting more money in the market when markets are declining can mean a greater upside when it recovers. \"That can be a really good opportunity,\" Jenkin said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2407,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163282662,"gmtCreate":1623886266656,"gmtModify":1634026551124,"author":{"id":"3581644254750981","authorId":"3581644254750981","name":"xCoCx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f86084cef71334b5032458f0085d143e","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581644254750981","authorIdStr":"3581644254750981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ?","listText":"Nice ?","text":"Nice ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163282662","repostId":"1138162876","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1138162876","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623885793,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1138162876?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-17 07:23","market":"us","language":"en","title":"GM expects inflation, semiconductor shortage to add $3 billion in extra costs in second half","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1138162876","media":"CNBC","summary":"KEY POINTS\n\nGeneral Motors expects the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage and rising inflation to i","content":"<div>\n<p>KEY POINTS\n\nGeneral Motors expects the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage and rising inflation to increase its expenses during the second half of the year by up to $3 billion\nThe increased costs ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/16/gm-expects-inflation-semiconductor-shortage-to-add-3-billion-in-extra-costs-in-second-half.html\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Earlier Wednesday, GM increased its earnings forecast for the first half of the year to between $8.5 billion and $9.5 billion in adjusted pretax earnings, up from an estimated $5.5 billion.\nThe new forecast was driven by better-than-expected results from its GM Financial unit and improved near-term production because they were able to get some semiconductor chips that were expected in the third quarter, according to the company.\n“I’m actually comfortable with where we are right now as we’re thinking about the second half of the year, even if there might be some continued supply challenges,” Jacobson said. “But there are some fundamental pressures in the second half that I think are unique versus the run rate that we’ve seen in the first half. That starts probably with commodity inflation.”\nFor the year, GM previously said it expected pretax profits “at the higher end” of a $10 billion to $11 billion range. It didn’t provide an update on its full-year earnings. The forecast factored in the potential impact of the chip shortage, including a hit of $1.5 billion to $2 billion to earnings.\nThe first half of the year has been better than many expected for automakers such as GM. Supply constraints due to the chip shortage have led to higher vehicle prices and profits.\n“We’re certainly bullish, as it relates to our prior guidance,” Jacobson said. “We’re intentionally not giving a full year guidance, yet we want to do that on our earnings call as we start to get into the third quarter and start to understand what the chip dynamics look like.”\nJacobson said the chip situation remains very fluid. For example, a new Covid outbreak in Malaysia is disrupting the semiconductor chip market, he said. Buffett said Wednesday he will donate $4.1 billion worth of Berkshire Hathaway shares to five foundations, and that he will resign as the trustee at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.\nThis year’s donation marked the halfway point for the 90-year-old Oracle of Omaha, who in 2006 pledged to give away all of his Berkshire shares through annual gifts to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, Sherwood Foundation, Howard G. Buffett Foundation and NoVo Foundation. Back then, Buffett owned 474,998 Berkshire A shares. Today, he said he owns 238,624 shares, worth about $100 billion.\n“Today is a milestone for me,” Buffett said in a statement. “In 2006, I pledged to distribute all of my Berkshire Hathaway shares — more than 99% of my net worth — to philanthropy. With today’s $4.1 billion distribution, I’m halfway there.”\nBuffett’s resignation as Gates Foundation trustee comes as the charitable organization faces a tumultuous time with the divorce of its two founders.\n“For years I have been a trustee — an inactive trustee at that — of only one recipient of my funds, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMG). I am now resigning from that post, just as I have done at all corporate boards other than Berkshire’s,” Buffett said. “The CEO of BMG is Mark Suzman, an outstanding recent selection who has my full support. My goals are 100% in sync with those of the foundation, and my physical participation is in no way needed to achieve these goals.”\nBill Gates, co-founder and former CEO of Microsoft, and his wife, Melinda French Gates,announced their divorce in May.The couple along with Buffett were creators of the Giving Pledge, a program that requires participants to give away more than half of their wealth.\nBuffett said his 16 annual contributions to the five foundations over the years were worth $41 billion when disbursed. Buffett is Berkshire’s largest shareholder, owning about 39% of the Class A shares, according to FactSet.\nBerkshire A shares have rebounded more than 20% to hit a record high in 2021 as many of the conglomerate’s business recovered better than expected from the pandemic hit.\n“I’m optimistic. Though naysayers abound — as they have throughout my life — America’s best days most certainly lie ahead,” Buffett said. “Philanthropy will continue to pair human talent with financial resources. So, too, will business and government. Each force has its particular strengths and weaknesses. Combined, they will make the world a better place — a much better place — for future generations.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BRK.A":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1282,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":123357393,"gmtCreate":1624410257812,"gmtModify":1631890761916,"author":{"id":"3581644254750981","authorId":"3581644254750981","name":"xCoCx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f86084cef71334b5032458f0085d143e","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581644254750981","authorIdStr":"3581644254750981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/123357393","repostId":"2145809052","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2061,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":120480694,"gmtCreate":1624332141118,"gmtModify":1631890761929,"author":{"id":"3581644254750981","authorId":"3581644254750981","name":"xCoCx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f86084cef71334b5032458f0085d143e","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581644254750981","authorIdStr":"3581644254750981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/120480694","repostId":"1179870522","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1179870522","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624287984,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1179870522?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-21 23:06","market":"us","language":"en","title":"A correction could be coming. And unlike some recent market drops, it may take time for stocks to make a full recovery, he said.\nExperts say you don't have to let a dip in the markets derail your retirement.\nWhen it comes to your 401(k), there's one piece of advice most financial experts agree on: Stick to your goals.\nPrioritize your near-term goals\nAs you evaluate your 401(k) and other investments in turbulent times, make sure to consider how soon you will need the money.\n\"Stock ownership should always be for a long-term hold: five-plus years,\" said financial advisor Scott Hanson, a certified financial planner and co-founder of Allworth Financial in Sacramento, California.\nIf you have money tied up in stocks that's earmarked for your child's tuition next semester or for a down payment for a house, now is the time to sell, Hanson said.\nFor goals with a time horizon of five years or less, consider moving that money to so-called stable value or fixed-income funds, said CFP Ted Jenkin, CEO of Oxygen Financial in Atlanta\nRemember your long-term time horizon\nWhen making decisions as to what actions fit you best, your age is key.\n\"If you're 70 years old, you have no business having 70% of your money in the stock market,\" Jenkin said. \"You should have 70% of your money in fixed income.\"\nMarguerita Cheng, a CFP and CEO of Blue Ocean Global Wealth in Gaithersburg, Maryland, said she encourages investors to allocate their investments in buckets.\nMoney for short-term goals should be in safe investments, while funds for intermediate and long-term needs can gradually get more risky.\nRetirees, in particular, may want to put money for required minimum distributions in a stable value fund or short-term bond fund, Cheng said, where they likely will not have to sell at a loss. Those mandatory distributions start when you reach age 72.\nBuy the dip\nDown or volatile markets provide an opportunity to buy stocks when prices are lower.\nThat means you want to keep contributing to your 401(k) or other retirement funds on a fixed schedule, Cheng said.\n\"If they're not comfortable, they can pare down the risk in their existing dollars, but keep their ongoing contributions the way they are,\" Cheng said.\nAnother tip to consider when markets are down: Ask your payroll department to take more out of your paycheck to put in your 401(k) for one pay period, Jenkin said.\nAs long as you have money in savings to pay your bills, putting more money in the market when markets are declining can mean a greater upside when it recovers. \"That can be a really good opportunity,\" Jenkin said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2407,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163282662,"gmtCreate":1623886266656,"gmtModify":1634026551124,"author":{"id":"3581644254750981","authorId":"3581644254750981","name":"xCoCx","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f86084cef71334b5032458f0085d143e","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581644254750981","authorIdStr":"3581644254750981"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice ?","listText":"Nice ?","text":"Nice ?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163282662","repostId":"1138162876","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1138162876","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623885793,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1138162876?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-17 07:23","market":"us","language":"en","title":"GM expects inflation, semiconductor shortage to add $3 billion in extra costs in second half","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1138162876","media":"CNBC","summary":"KEY POINTS\n\nGeneral Motors expects the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage and rising inflation to i","content":"<div>\n<p>KEY POINTS\n\nGeneral Motors expects the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage and rising inflation to increase its expenses during the second half of the year by up to $3 billion\nThe increased costs ...</p>\n\n<a href=\"https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/16/gm-expects-inflation-semiconductor-shortage-to-add-3-billion-in-extra-costs-in-second-half.html\">Web Link</a>\n\n</div>\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"<!DOCTYPE html>\n<html>\n<head>\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Earlier Wednesday, GM increased its earnings forecast for the first half of the year to between $8.5 billion and $9.5 billion in adjusted pretax earnings, up from an estimated $5.5 billion.\nThe new forecast was driven by better-than-expected results from its GM Financial unit and improved near-term production because they were able to get some semiconductor chips that were expected in the third quarter, according to the company.\n“I’m actually comfortable with where we are right now as we’re thinking about the second half of the year, even if there might be some continued supply challenges,” Jacobson said. “But there are some fundamental pressures in the second half that I think are unique versus the run rate that we’ve seen in the first half. That starts probably with commodity inflation.”\nFor the year, GM previously said it expected pretax profits “at the higher end” of a $10 billion to $11 billion range. It didn’t provide an update on its full-year earnings. The forecast factored in the potential impact of the chip shortage, including a hit of $1.5 billion to $2 billion to earnings.\nThe first half of the year has been better than many expected for automakers such as GM. Supply constraints due to the chip shortage have led to higher vehicle prices and profits.\n“We’re certainly bullish, as it relates to our prior guidance,” Jacobson said. “We’re intentionally not giving a full year guidance, yet we want to do that on our earnings call as we start to get into the third quarter and start to understand what the chip dynamics look like.”\nJacobson said the chip situation remains very fluid. For example, a new Covid outbreak in Malaysia is disrupting the semiconductor chip market, he said. Vehicle supply constraints are expected to continue into 2022, he said.\n“As long as that continues, we’re losing some production there from some key chip providers and it’s things like that that really make this a week to week phenomenon,” he said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"GM":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":478,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
