Both companies are also called to allow app developers to explicitly advertise within apps, so that consumers can subscribe and make purchases outside of the App Store or the Google Play Store, he added.</p>\n<p>This will help avoiding the 30% take rate on in-app purchases, the analyst said.</p>\n<p>The proposed bill will have to be approved by the House and Senate before becoming law, Munster said.</p>\n<p><b>Regulation Not Automatically Negative: </b> The end result of regulation is not automatically negative for big tech, given unintended consequences often occur when incentives change, Munster said.</p>\n<p>Even if Apple buckles under pressure and reduces its take rate from 30% to 10% - a possibility which is unlikely – it could still make more money ultimately, the analyst said. A reduction in fees will likely spur greater growth in the app development ecosystem, he added.</p>\n<p>Apple and Google, according to the analyst, have the stronger case, given they created their mobile app stores and are responsible for maintaining them, the analyst said. They, therefore, should have control over how things are curated and distributed within the stores, he added.</p>\n<p>Additionally, opening the iPhone to third-party app stores, the analyst said, will weaken security and privacy, thereby harming consumers.</p>\n<p><b>Munster's Take On Potential Regulation: </b> The likelihood of radical regulation as low, Munster said. Much of it is thanks to money being yanked away from Bitcoin products, according to the digital-asset manager.</p>\n<p>The cooling appetite stands in contrast to the growing pile of cryptocurrency ETF filings, with at least 18 applications landing with the SEC this year. That tally grew by three in the past two weeks after Gensler signaled that regulators may be more open to a Bitcoin ETF if it was based around futures rather than the cryptocurrency itself. However, even if the SEC finally green-lights the fund structure, it’s not a sure bet that a Bitcoin ETF would be met with huge demand, according to Meltem Demirors of Coinshares.</p>\n<p>“There’s so many venues for people to buy and sell Bitcoin, to get exposure to Bitcoin in tax-managed accounts,” said Demirors, chief strategy officer at CoinShares. “We’re not really sure what the demand will look like because is the maturation of crypto in the U.S. is already quite high.”</p>\n<p>After setting an all-time high of nearly $65,000 in April, Bitcoin resumed its volatile price swings. The world’s largest cryptocurrency dropped below $30,000 in June as environmental and regulatory concerns hammered sentiment. Bitcoin has since rebounded to more than $46,000, even as the U.S. Senate passed an infrastructure bill that would allow for broad oversight of virtual currencies.</p>\n<p>However, fund flows have yet to match the rebound. Bitcoin funds and futures are on track for a third straight month of outflows, the longest streak in data going back to 2014, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. The bulk of that decline is due to decreasing open interest in Bitcoin futures, meaning traders let their contracts roll off without renewing.</p>\n<p>The outflows might even be bigger, if not for the fact that the $30 billion Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (ticker GBTC) -- the largest crypto fund -- doesn’t allow for share redemptions. That’s after shares of the trust ballooned by the hundreds of millions earlier this year amid the crypto craze. A reduction in fees will likely spur greater growth in the app development ecosystem, he added.\nApple and Google, according to the analyst, have the stronger case, given they created their mobile app stores and are responsible for maintaining them, the analyst said. That exceeds the company’s previous outlook as well as an average of analysts’ estimates compiled by Bloomberg.</p>\n<p>Palantir has been recruiting an array of corporate allies with the goal of attracting new customers. It forged partnerships this year with International Business Machines Corp. and Fujitsu Ltd. to resell its technology and with Amazon Web Services to support it. Palantir also expanded its own sales team.</p>\n<p>The search went even wider last month to include small companies. Palantir began selling its software through a monthly subscription to a handful of startups connected to former employees. The company also invested in a dozen startups and signed them up as customers, marking a reversal of its previous approach to only pursue large deals.</p>\n<p>“We’ve always invested in companies. Now we can do it with our balance sheet,” Kevin Kawasaki, the head of business development, said on a conference call with analysts Thursday. “This is a long-term strategy.”</p>\n<p>The shifting strategy came at a cost. The second-quarter loss was 7 cents a share. Stock-based compensation accounts for a hefty portion.</p>\n<p>Sales results in the quarter were encouraging. Palantir reported $376 million in revenue for the period that ended in June, up 49% from a year earlier.</p>\n<p>Many government agencies have flocked to Palantir since last year to help them analyze the Covid-19 pandemic. Government sales remained healthy in the second quarter at a growth rate of 66%, the company said. It was 83% in the first quarter.</p>\n<p>The U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention all signed deals during the second quarter. “The government business is on fire,” said Shyam Sankar, the chief operating officer.</p>\n<p>Corporate customers make up a smaller pool of Palantir’s revenue, but renewed efforts there appear to be paying off. That line is about 62 miles up.</p>\n<p>Blue Origin plans to take its passengers past the Karman line on its flight.</p>\n<p><b>How Much Did Passengers Pay for the Trip?</b></p>\n<p>Nothing. While this flight could be another step forward for space tourism, the expected crew members are Galactic employees and Branson. Joining the company’s founder on board will be two pilots; Beth Moses, chief astronaut instructor; Colin Bennett, lead operations engineer; and Sirisha Bandla, vice president of government affairs and research operations.</p>\n<p>Still, Branson is no stranger to publicity. Canaccord analyst Ken Herbert believes&nbsp;it’s possible&nbsp;that Galactic could surprise viewers by bringing a paying customer on board with Branson. That would generate additional buzz for the company.</p>\n<p>A move like that would best space-tourism competitor Blue Origin in another way. Bezos is expected to take the first paying passenger to space on his flight later this month. That seat was auctioned off for&nbsp;$28 million.</p>\n<p>A ticket on a future Virgin Galactic flight will run&nbsp;about $250,000.</p>\n<p><b>What Does the Flight Mean for Investors?</b></p>\n<p>The continuation of flight tests brings Galactic one step closer to full commercialization, which means sales and, hopefully, earnings down the road.</p>\n<p>Once fully operational, each Galactic spaceship is expected to make roughly 36 flights a year. Most Galactic spaceships have about six seats for sale. At full capacity, that’s about $54 million per spaceship a year.</p>\n<p>Analysts expect Galactic to do about $3 million in 2021 sales, growing to $51 million in 2022 and $555 million by 2025. Earnings and cash flow are expected to turn positive around 2024.</p>\n<p>The flight and associated news coverage also represent publicity for the company.</p>\n<p><b>How Will Virgin Galactic Stock Benefit?</b></p>\n<p>A successful test flight is a clear positive for Galactic, but it might not be so for its stock.
