It now accounts for 1 in 5 infections in the United States.\nIn May, federal health officials said that fully vaccinated people no longer needed to mask up, even indoors. The advice signified a sea change in American life, setting the stage for a national reopening that continues to gain momentum.\nBut that was before the spread of the Delta variant. Worried by a global surge in cases, the World Health Organisation last week reiterated its long-standing recommendation that everyone - including the inoculated - wear masks to stem the spread of the virus.\nOn Monday (June 28), health officials in Los Angeles County followed suit, recommending that \"everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks indoors in public places as a precautionary measure\".\nMs Barbara Ferrer, the county's public health director, said the new recommendation was needed because of upticks in infections, a rise in cases due to the worrisome Delta variant, and persistently high numbers of unvaccinated residents, particularly children, Black and Latino residents and essential workers.\nRoughly half of Los Angeles County residents are fully Activision is known for <i>Call of Duty</i> and <i>World of Warcraft</i> and generates over $8 billion a year in bookings (a non-GAAP measure of revenue).&nbsp;Take-<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TWOA\">Two</a>'s <i>Grand Theft Auto V</i> has sold a staggering 145 million copies,&nbsp;which has pushed the company's bookings to over $3 billion.</p>\n<p>I'll say up front that I believe Take-Two is well-positioned to deliver much better returns than Activision Blizzard over the next five years. Here's why.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/30e93ec376dbf9d2b1e80588b2008646\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>The margin gap</h2>\n<p>Activision has many good qualities investors look for in an investment. It has eight franchises that have generated $1 billion in lifetime bookings.&nbsp;It has a large player base of over 400 million monthly active users,&nbsp;and management has a great record of allocating capital through acquisitions that create shareholder returns. Over the last year, the company generated a healthy free cash flow margin of 33% compared to revenue and paid $316 million in dividends to shareholders.</p>\n<p>While Take-Two is smaller and is more dependent on a few franchises, CEO Strauss Zelnick, who took over in 2011,&nbsp;is gradually turning Take-Two into a bigger and more profitable leader in the industry. Since <i>Grand Theft Auto V</i>&nbsp;launched in 2013, Take-Two's free cash flow has increased by 347% to $843 million. The digital distribution of games has brought more-consistent profits for management to reinvest in expanding its game library, with the long-term goal to build greater scale, reach more players, and improve operating margin.</p>\n<p>Compared to Activision's stellar operating margin of 35.2%, Take-Two's operating margin is currently at 18.7% on a trailing-12-month basis, but that's exactly why Take-Two offers more upside to investors. Still, analysts expect Take-Two to expand its margin by a greater amount, which could lead to better returns for investors.</p>\n<h2>Take-Two stock is cheaper with more upside</h2>\n<p>Activision should remain a good long-term investment. Management believes it can reach 1 billion monthly active users, as the company expands its mobile game business.&nbsp;But investors are paying a higher price for&nbsp;Activision's greater game diversity, and perceived lower business risk.</p>\n<p>Activision stock trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 8.5, which is much higher than Take-Two's sales multiple of 6.&nbsp;But as Take-Two expands its game catalog, this relatively lower sales multiple won't be justified.</p>\n<p>Take-Two's <i>Grand Theft Auto V</i> and <i>Red Dead Redemption 2</i> have sold a combined 182 million copies, establishing a large player base to build on with future releases. In this process, investors borrow shares, sell them and then buy them back later at a lower price. If the share price ends up rising, the short seller will try to minimize losses by buying back shares, which now cost more than when they were borrowed.\nThe June 22 report listed 10 names that investors increased their bets against. Here are the top three, in descending order of greatest increase in short interest:\nLi Auto— The Chinese automaker went public on the Nasdaq in July 2020 and its stock has held onto 170% gains since then.\nHowever, the company’s only model on the market, the Li One SUV, is not purely an electric car since it comes with a fuel tank to charge the battery and extend its driving range. Monthly deliveries have failed to exceed those ofNio, another U.S.-listed electric car start-up, and fell below that ofXpengin May.\nLi Auto shares have climbed 8% so far this year, versus declines of nearly 3% and 7% for Xpeng and Nio, respectively. Shares of all three companies surged last year.\nCosco Shipping— The company has seen its shares double so far this year, with the stock trading in the last few weeks at highs not seen since 2008.\nThe state-owned conglomerate is listed in Hong Kong. Activision is known for <i>Call of Duty</i> and <i>World of Warcraft</i> and generates over $8 billion a year in bookings (a non-GAAP measure of revenue).&nbsp;Take-<a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/TWOA\">Two</a>'s <i>Grand Theft Auto V</i> has sold a staggering 145 million copies,&nbsp;which has pushed the company's bookings to over $3 billion.</p>\n<p>I'll say up front that I believe Take-Two is well-positioned to deliver much better returns than Activision Blizzard over the next five years. Here's why.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/30e93ec376dbf9d2b1e80588b2008646\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"466\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>The margin gap</h2>\n<p>Activision has many good qualities investors look for in an investment. It has eight franchises that have generated $1 billion in lifetime bookings.&nbsp;It has a large player base of over 400 million monthly active users,&nbsp;and management has a great record of allocating capital through acquisitions that create shareholder returns. Over the last year, the company generated a healthy free cash flow margin of 33% compared to revenue and paid $316 million in dividends to shareholders.</p>\n<p>While Take-Two is smaller and is more dependent on a few franchises, CEO Strauss Zelnick, who took over in 2011,&nbsp;is gradually turning Take-Two into a bigger and more profitable leader in the industry. Since <i>Grand Theft Auto V</i>&nbsp;launched in 2013, Take-Two's free cash flow has increased by 347% to $843 million. The digital distribution of games has brought more-consistent profits for management to reinvest in expanding its game library, with the long-term goal to build greater scale, reach more players, and improve operating margin.</p>\n<p>Compared to Activision's stellar operating margin of 35.2%, Take-Two's operating margin is currently at 18.7% on a trailing-12-month basis, but that's exactly why Take-Two offers more upside to investors. It has made major strides to squeeze more profits out of its business, and its operating margin is still trending up.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bf60ea29fdc7bd56d2ec45cb947ce369\" tg-width=\"720\" tg-height=\"387\"><span>ATVI operating margin (TTM) data by YCharts. Management believes it can reach 1 billion monthly active users, as the company expands its mobile game business.&nbsp;But investors are paying a higher price for&nbsp;Activision's greater game diversity, and perceived lower business risk.</p>\n<p>Activision stock trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 8.5, which is much higher than Take-Two's sales multiple of 6.&nbsp;But as Take-Two expands its game catalog, this relatively lower sales multiple won't be justified.</p>\n<p>Take-Two's <i>Grand Theft Auto V</i> and <i>Red Dead Redemption 2</i> have sold a combined 182 million copies, establishing a large player base to build on with future releases. Activision is known for Call of Duty and World of Warcraft and generates over $8 billion a year in bookings (a non-GAAP measure of revenue). Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto V has sold a staggering 145 million copies, which has pushed the company's bookings to over $3 billion.\nI'll say up front that I believe Take-Two is well-positioned to deliver much better returns than Activision Blizzard over the next five years. It has eight franchises that have generated $1 billion in lifetime bookings. It has a large player base of over 400 million monthly active users, and management has a great record of allocating capital through acquisitions that create shareholder returns. Over the last year, the company generated a healthy free cash flow margin of 33% compared to revenue and paid $316 million in dividends to shareholders.\nWhile Take-Two is smaller and is more dependent on a few franchises, CEO Strauss Zelnick, who took over in 2011, is gradually turning Take-Two into a bigger and more profitable leader in the industry. Since Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013, Take-Two's free cash flow has increased by 347% to $843 million. The digital distribution of games has brought more-consistent profits for management to reinvest in expanding its game library, with the long-term goal to build greater scale, reach more players, and improve operating margin.\nCompared to Activision's stellar operating margin of 35.2%, Take-Two's operating margin is currently at 18.7% on a trailing-12-month basis, but that's exactly why Take-Two offers more upside to investors. It now accounts for 1 in 5 infections in the United States.\nIn May, federal health officials said that fully vaccinated people no longer needed to mask up, even indoors. The advice signified a sea change in American life, setting the stage for a national reopening that continues to gain momentum.\nBut that was before the spread of the Delta variant. Below, we'll look more closely at why&nbsp;<b>Loop Industries</b>(NASDAQ:LOOP)&nbsp;and&nbsp;<b>Ideanomics</b>(NASDAQ:IDEX)deserve a little more attention from investors.</p>\n<p>Loop sustains gains</p>\n<p>Shares of Loop Industries moved higher by nearly 20%Wednesday afternoon. The maker of specialized materials from waste plastic and polyester fiber made a key announcement that lifted its stock to its highest levels in three years.</p>\n<p>South Korean industrial giant SK Global Chemical agreed to make a $56.5 million investment in Loop, taking a 10% equity stake in the company that values the stock at $12 per share. Loop intends to use the proceeds toward building out a facility in Quebec.</p>\n<p>At the same time, though, SK and Loop have much larger plans for their joint venture. The companies intend to prepare facility construction in South Korea during the first half of 2022, with the hope of completing four facilities by the end of the decade. All told, Loop hopes to put 400,000 tons of waste plastic and fiber to productive use, saving more than 632,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.</p>\n<p>The deal acts as a vote of confidence in Loop's business model, which took a hit after short-selling research reports called it into question. When real investors put real money to work, it acts as validation for early shareholders who saw the value of Loop's vision.</p>\n<p>A good idea from Ideanomics</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, shares of Ideanomics were up more than 12% Wednesday afternoon. The electric vehicle mobility and fintech company has largely flown under investors' radars, but today's move reflects greater interest in the industry generally and in the company in particular.</p>\n<p>Ideanomics isn't well-known on Wall Street, but it's attracted a sizable following among individual investors. For many shareholders, Ideanomics' most important business is its mobility segment, which has sought to help commercial bus and truck fleets figure out a better approach toward electrification more broadly. With an approach that includes planning, vehicles, infrastructure, and operational assistance, Ideanomics has aimed to be a one-stop shop for those looking to keep up with changing trends in the EV space.</p>\n<p>However, Ideanomics also has other ambitions. It's aiming to make new financial technology more accessible to companies looking to keep up with the pace of innovation, with specialization in multiple areas such as real estate, commodities, and broker-dealer transactions.</p>\n<p>Ideanomics' recent acquisition of EV tractor company Solectrac gave it a bigger presence in the U.S. market, and that's raised awareness among many investors. That said, AMC has rocketed higher since May 7, multiplying by more than five times and surpassing GameStop’s market value—hitting a recent $27 billion compared to GameStop’s $15 billion.</p>\n<p>It may seem counterintuitive, but the Russell 1000 “promotion” may actually be bad for GameStop’s stock,as&nbsp;Barron’s&nbsp;explained earlier this month.Funds that track the small-capRussell 2000will have to sell GameStop shares on June 28, and funds that track the Russell 1000 will have to buy them. The Russell 1000 tracks large-capitalization stocks—and in order to be included in the latest index reconstitution, stocks had to have market caps of at least $7.3 billion on May 7.\nAs one of the stocks favored by retail traders this year, GameStop (ticker: GME) met that threshold because it had an $11.2 billion market cap by the deadline, while AMC Entertainment(AMC) didn’t. That said, AMC has rocketed higher since May 7, multiplying by more than five times and surpassing GameStop’s market value—hitting a recent $27 billion compared to GameStop’s $15 billion.\nIt may seem counterintuitive, but the Russell 1000 “promotion” may actually be bad for GameStop’s stock,as Barron’s explained earlier this month.Funds that track the small-capRussell 2000will have to sell GameStop shares on June 28, and funds that track the Russell 1000 will have to buy them. Three times as much money is invested in funds that track the Russell 1000, but GameStop’s overall weight in that index will be much lower than it has been in the Russell 2000. In the Russell 2000, GameStop made up about half a percentage point of the index, while it will be less than 0.1% of the Russell 1000. GameStop will look tiny next to behemoths like Apple(AAPL).\nExperts like Jefferies strategist Steven DeSanctis expect that there will be net selling in GameStop of about 5 million shares, or about half of the stock’s recent average daily volume, after the rebalancing.\nMeanwhile, AMC will be the largest member of the Russell 2000 by far—more than three times as large as its nearest competitor as of last week.
