e-commerce and gaming company Sea Limited reported second-quarter results on Tuesday that topp","content":"
Asian e-commerce and gaming company Sea Limited reported second-quarter results on Tuesday that topped revenue estimates as it raised guidance. The stock was up more than 600% in just two years.
\n
Sea said revenue totaled $2.3 billion, up 158.6% year over year, exceeding analysts' estimates of $1.97 billion.
\n
The company reported an adjusted loss of 61 cents a share, while analysts expected Sea to report an adjusted loss of 51 cents.
\n
E-commerce revenue rose 160.7% to $1.2 billion, while digital entertainment revenue rose 166.8% to $1 billion.
\n
Sea said its \"Free Fire\" game reached more than 1 billion downloads on Google Play and ranked third globally by average monthly active users for mobile games on Google Play in the second quarter.
\n
The game also achieved a new record high of more than 150 million peak daily active users in the quarter.
\n
In the U.S., \"Free Fire\" was also the highest-grossing mobile battle royale game for two consecutive quarters and was the second-highest grossing mobile game on Google Play for the second quarter.
\n
Bookings were $1.2 billion, up 64.8% year on year. Quarterly active users reached 725.2 million, up 45.1% year-on-year.
\n
Looking ahead, Sea said it expects bookings for digital entertainment in 2021 to range from $4.5 billion and $4.7 billion, up 44.4% from 2020 at the midpoint of the revised guidance.
\n
The company also expects revenue for e-commerce to range from $4.7 billion and $4.9 billion, up 121.5% growth from 2020 at the midpoint of the revised guidance.
\n
Dominance in a digital economy
\n
Sea Limited is a conglomerate of digital products and services that include e-commerce, gaming, and digital payments. Its business segments dominate the market in SEA, much as Amazon dominates e-commerce in the United States.
\n
According to a Google report, the SEA region's digital economy is worth (shown as GMV, or gross marketplace volume) approximately $100 billion as of 2020. Sea Limited captured $35.4 billion of that through its e-commerce business, Shopee, alone in 2020. Sea's management claims that Shopee is the most popular shopping app in SEA by monthly active users and time spent on the app. This level of engagement shows up in the financials. Shopee's GMV grew to $12.6 billion in 2021 Q1, a 103% increase year over year.
\n
Sea's business goes well beyond e-commerce. It owns a payments business called Sea Money that offers mobile wallet services to 26.1 million paying users. Digital entertainment is Sea's third segment, which houses its game development studio, Garena, creator of Free Fire, the world's most downloaded mobile game in 2020.
\n
Sea Limited's strong presence in e-commerce, payments, and gaming has fueled the company's growth trajectory thanks to the digital nature of the economy in SEA. Sea Limited generated just $345 million in revenue in 2016, but the company is expected to do $8.3 billion in 2021, growing 95% per year over this stretch.
\n
Sea Limited could be positioned to continue its rapid growth over the coming years. Roughly half of the 670 million inhabitants of SEA are under the age of 30, and 68% of households use smartphones.
\n
Meantime, Sea Limited has expanded aggressively, pushing into Latin America for new expansion opportunities. Sea Limited started by launching Shopee in Brazil in late 2019 and is using the popularity of Free Fire to gain recognition, making Shopee the only licensed seller of Free Fire merchandise and signing a deal to become an official sponsor of Brazil's national football team. These moves have helped the Shopee app grab an 18% market share in less than two years.
\n
Sea Ltd is growing rapidly, yet doesn't appear overvalued at the current price.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Can Sea Limited stock continue to rise?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nCan Sea Limited stock continue to rise?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Tiger Newspress
\n
2021-08-18 15:15
\n
\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Asian e-commerce and gaming company Sea Limited reported second-quarter results on Tuesday that topped revenue estimates as it raised guidance. The stock was up more than 600% in just two years.\nSea said revenue totaled $2.3 billion, up 158.6% year over year, exceeding analysts' estimates of $1.97 billion.\nThe company reported an adjusted loss of 61 cents a share, while analysts expected Sea to report an adjusted loss of 51 cents.\nE-commerce revenue rose 160.7% to $1.2 billion, while digital entertainment revenue rose 166.8% to $1 billion.\nSea said its \"Free Fire\" game reached more than 1 billion downloads on Google Play and ranked third globally by average monthly active users for mobile games on Google Play in the second quarter.\nThe game also achieved a new record high of more than 150 million peak daily active users in the quarter.\nIn the U.S., \"Free Fire\" was also the highest-grossing mobile battle royale game for two consecutive quarters and was the second-highest grossing mobile game on Google Play for the second quarter.\nBookings were $1.2 billion, up 64.8% year on year. Quarterly active users reached 725.2 million, up 45.1% year-on-year.\nLooking ahead, Sea said it expects bookings for digital entertainment in 2021 to range from $4.5 billion and $4.7 billion, up 44.4% from 2020 at the midpoint of the revised guidance.\nThe company also expects revenue for e-commerce to range from $4.7 billion and $4.9 billion, up 121.5% growth from 2020 at the midpoint of the revised guidance.\nDominance in a digital economy\nSea Limited is a conglomerate of digital products and services that include e-commerce, gaming, and digital payments. Its business segments dominate the market in SEA, much as Amazon dominates e-commerce in the United States.\nAccording to a Google report, the SEA region's digital economy is worth (shown as GMV, or gross marketplace volume) approximately $100 billion as of 2020. Sea Limited captured $35.4 billion of that through its e-commerce business, Shopee, alone in 2020. Sea's management claims that Shopee is the most popular shopping app in SEA by monthly active users and time spent on the app. This level of engagement shows up in the financials. Shopee's GMV grew to $12.6 billion in 2021 Q1, a 103% increase year over year.\nSea's business goes well beyond e-commerce. It owns a payments business called Sea Money that offers mobile wallet services to 26.1 million paying users. Digital entertainment is Sea's third segment, which houses its game development studio, Garena, creator of Free Fire, the world's most downloaded mobile game in 2020.\nSea Limited's strong presence in e-commerce, payments, and gaming has fueled the company's growth trajectory thanks to the digital nature of the economy in SEA. Sea Limited generated just $345 million in revenue in 2016, but the company is expected to do $8.3 billion in 2021, growing 95% per year over this stretch.\nSea Limited could be positioned to continue its rapid growth over the coming years. Roughly half of the 670 million inhabitants of SEA are under the age of 30, and 68% of households use smartphones.\nMeantime, Sea Limited has expanded aggressively, pushing into Latin America for new expansion opportunities. Sea Limited started by launching Shopee in Brazil in late 2019 and is using the popularity of Free Fire to gain recognition, making Shopee the only licensed seller of Free Fire merchandise and signing a deal to become an official sponsor of Brazil's national football team. AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE:AMC) topped last quarter's revenue and earnings estimates. The bad news is it's still deep in the red, and only selling a fraction of the number of tickets it was selling before the pandemic took hold.
\n
None of this is terribly shocking, of course. A year earlier, the world was largely shut down due to COVID-19. Though the contagion is still with us, consumers and businesses alike are coping. Online releases also boost Disney's competitive moat against streaming rivals like Netflix and could help drive subscriber growth.
\n
It is unclear how long Disney plans to continue its dual-release strategy, but if it becomes permanent (or if other studios follow suit), AMC could become an unnecessary middleman in an industry it once dominated.
\n
2. First-quarter revenue tanked 84% to $148 million -- a slight improvement from the fourth quarter (when sales were down 89% against the prior year), but not much evidence of a strong recovery. The company is also burning through cash, reporting negative operating cash flows of $313 million in the period.
\n
With just $813 million in cash and equivalents on its balance sheet, AMC will probably need to tap the debt and equity markets to sustain operations. And with $5.4 billion in corporate borrowings and $4.9 billion in operating lease liabilities (deferred rent for some of its properties), its balance sheet is already in bad shape.
\n
Considering these challenges, AMC has no business trading for a market cap of $19.5 billion, which represents a jaw-dropping 43 times its 12-month revenue. Even if the company recovered to its pre-pandemic sales figure of $5.5 billion (which looks unlikely), that would give the stock a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of 3.5, which is quite a premium for a company with a busted balance sheet that struggled to earn consistent profits even before the pandemic. (AMC reported a net loss of $149 million in 2019.)
\n
An obsolete company?
\n
The symbiotic relationship between film studios and movie theaters is breaking down. And this could turn AMC Entertainment into an unnecessary intermediary in film distribution. The company's financials are also in shambles, which could mean more debt and equity dilution in the future. AMC's stock shouldn't be trading for such a high valuation in light of these challenges.
","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 Reasons to Sell AMC Stock
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 Reasons to Sell AMC Stock\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-29 22:25 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
What goes up must come down -- at least when the rally comes from speculation instead of fundamentals. Bipartisan talk of antitrust actions against the e-commerce giant could mean that Amazon’s dominance could begin to face challenges from Washington. That comes as Bezos handed off the CEO role to Andy Jassy earlier this month.
\n
Shares of Amazon have underperformed the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 in 2021, even as the coronavirus pandemic forced Americans to rely on its service during the darkest days.
\n
Given all this, it is worth considering e-commerce alternatives if you’re worried that Amazon’s best days are behind it.
\n
Here are five smaller high-growth companies you may want to research:
\n
Sea
\n
Shares of Sea Ltd. are up about 45% in 2021, hitting new all-time highs as it continues its aggressive growth across Asia and Latin America.
\n
The Singapore-based company has a broad business model capitalizing on e-commerce and digital retail operations around the world. That includes its Garena digital entertainment platform that publishes video games and offers e-sports tie-ins, the Shopee e-commerce platform and SeaMoney digital financial services that include mobile payment services.
\n
Sea was a darling in 2020 as it rode the “stay at home trade” to great success. Revenue doubled year over year in 2020 to $4.4 billion, and the company’s momentum was the envy of Wall Street as Sea stock racked up roughly 640% gains on the calendar year.
\n
But the fundamentals shown by Sea in 2021 hint that the surge in share prices were justified. Consider that in its first-quarter report in May, revenue surged by about 150%— while gross profit tripled year over year.
\n
With its next earnings report scheduled for mid-August, Sea stock could see another leg up as it continues to prove Amazon isn’t the only e-commerce name worth watching.
\n
Coupang
\n
While Sea has been a cult stock for a while in some circles, one Asian e-commerce stock that is still flying under the radar for many is Korea-based Coupang Inc.. South Korea’s biggest e-commerce company began trading in March after an IPO that raised $4.6 billion, but since then shares have drifted lower — and other cult-like stocks have won all the attention.
\n
If you haven’t yet heard of Coupang, its model should be quite familiar. It sells various products including home goods, apparel, beauty products, sporting goods and electronics. It’s also looking beyond these tried-and-true categories to include a focus on fresh food and groceries, as well as services including travel and restaurant delivery.
\n
Though the fundamentals are light given its recent debut, the numbers we have do show this regional e-tailer is connecting in a big way in Korea. Namely, it saw net revenue growth of 74% in its first-quarter report in May, and gross profit up 70% year over year. Total customers grew 21%, and revenue per customer surged 44%.
\n
Admittedly, the total customer base in that quarter was just 16 million households — hardly Amazon-esque. And so far in 2021, share prices has slumped slightly, even though the S&P 500 has powered higher. But remember, this is a company that just raised $4.6 billion — with a “B” — and is serious about growth. Considering the language and logistical barriers to competition in the markets it serves that clearly have long-term growth potential, investors may want to consider the lull in Coupang shares a buying opportunity.
\n
MercadoLibre
\n
Taking a page out of the playbook of Silicon Valley stocks that boast high share prices and a refusal to split, MercadoLibre Inc. is currently trading well above four figures — and based on recent history, seems as if it’s likely to stay there.
\n
MercadoLibre stock has cooled off in 2021 and is sitting on a slight loss year to date, compared with an uptrend broadly for U.S. stocks. However, that’s after this Latin American stock racked up 200% gains last year. Argentina-based MercadoLibre is hardly slowing down, however, as in the first quarter it reported 70 million active users — an increase of 62% above the just over 43 million users in the prior year. Gross merchandise volume was up even more at a 77% year-over-year growth rate to just over $6 billion, compared with $3.4 billion in the first quarter of 2020.
\n
What’s really exciting for investors, however, is that the gains in core e-commerce transactions is supplemented by continued growth into financial services. MercadoLibre reported an impressive $2.9 billion in payment volume through its mobile wallet platform, and its Mercado Credito lending platform saw its portfolio grow to $576 million — more than doubling over the prior year.
\n
Amazon has taught e-commerce companies that dominating all aspects of the consumer experience is how to truly build a dominant operation. With MercadoLibre growing sales but also increasingly connecting on the financial side, it is setting up itself to be a force in Latin America — and a real competitor to even entrenched western e-commerce brands.
\n
Newegg
\n
Newegg Commerce Inc. is a consumer-electronics e-tailer that has a bit of a following in computer geek circles but largely has gone unnoticed by most consumers and investors. That is, until it spiked from $10 a share to a brief high above $60 a share in July.
\n
The inciting incident was news that Newegg would carry hard-to-get Nvidia graphics hardware, and theoretically see a big bump in revenue and profits as a result. However, Newegg may be proving that it is much more than just a tangential play piggybacking off Nvidia as it proves there is real value to specialty retailers that serve a specific audience — and can offer in-demand products instead of knock-offs propped up by fraudulent five-star reviews.
\n
Newegg went public via a SPAC, so it doesn’t have a lot of history to show investors just yet. But what little we know is proof that Newegg stock has potential. Consider it commands an impressive market share when it comes to core hardware items like PC processors, motherboards and the like. It also ranks as a top-five website worldwide when it comes to computer and electronics retailing sites, and is a go-to site for cryptocurrency miners as well as PC gamers.
\n
According to what we know about the financials, Newegg topped $2.1 billion in sales, thanks to its dominance in this profitable niche of computer components. And as evidenced by its recent Nvidia score, it has deep relationships with consumer electronics suppliers to ensure it is not just another Amazon clone selling cut-rate flat screens.
\n
Shopify
\n
If you’re interested in what life looks like for e-commerce beyond Amazon, look no further than Shopify Inc..This Canada-based tech company offers a platform for any company to build out web and mobile storefronts, integrate those operations into physical retail locations and then assist with the nitty gritty of inventory, shipping and payments.
\n
Shopify stock was one of those names that made a lot of headlines in 2020 as part of the pandemic-related surge in service providers made for social distancing. Shares surged from about $400 to $1,100 last year as a result of everyone looking to do business digitally. But in 2021, Shopify stock has tacked on almost 40% more, proving this is not just a COVID trade. After all, the e-commerce potential it helps merchants realize is real and lasting beyond the pandemic.
\n
Case in point:Fiscal first-quarter revenue growth reported at the end of April was a red hot 110%. But what long-term investors will like even more is that its subscription service metric MRR — that is, monthly recurring revenue — accelerated 62% year-over-year to prove that many of the initial spend on building out these platforms is sticking as clients maintain their Shopify presence.
\n
Shopify isn’t quite the scale of Amazon, but at $200 billion or so in market value right now with a comfortable operating profit to sustain it, investors who want to bet the field vs. Bezos & Co. could do worse than plug into Shopify stock.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Amazon's stock looks tired. That’s quite impressive.
\n
Why is this happening?
\n
Virgin Galactic is booming becausethey’re sending Richard Branson into space on Sunday. This will be the first passenger spaceflightever.
\n
This is a huge deal. Virgin has been saying it is going to fly people into space for over a decade. On Sunday, it’s going to make that long-term dream a reality. This moment, this coming weekend’s flight, is truly the culmination of 10-plus years of scientific work.
\n
And just to be clear. We very well could see a “sell the news” event on Monday.
These moves have helped the Shopee app grab an 18% market share in less than two years.\nSea Ltd is growing rapidly, yet doesn't appear overvalued at the current price.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SE":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":312,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":897325684,"gmtCreate":1628893103448,"gmtModify":1633688777804,"author":{"id":"4088198493008700","authorId":"4088198493008700","name":"Thomas8855","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/67cc46e177356572799c4398ddd7b94e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088198493008700","authorIdStr":"4088198493008700"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yes","listText":"Yes","text":"Yes","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/897325684","repostId":"1138970454","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"1138970454","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1623385949,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1138970454?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-11 12:32","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tiger Broker has been honoured The Asset Triple A Sustainable Investing Awards 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1138970454","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"June 11/ Tiger Broker has been honoured with the following awared at The Asset Triple A Sustainable ","content":"
June 11/ Tiger Broker has been honoured with the following awared at The Asset Triple A Sustainable Investing Awards 2021 for Institutional Investor, ETF and Asset Servicing Providers:

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; There are six different versions of the car with different features, and prices range from 160,000 yuan to 230,000 yuan.\nXpeng's P7 sedan starts from 229,900 yuan after subsidies. Tesla's Model 3 starts from 250,900 yuan in China.\nThe Guangzhou-headquartered company is using Lidar, or light detection and ranging technology, in the P5 to boost some of its semi-autonomous driving features. Lidar uses laser beams to map out the surrounding environment, and measure the distance of objects to help the car determine obstacles in its pathway.\nFour out of the six P5 models come fitted with Lidar and Xpeng's advanced driver-assistancesystem (ADAS) called XPILOT.\nXpeng is one of a number of players in China's electric vehicle industry which spans from established automakers through to start-ups.\nTesla, which has facedweeks of bad press in China, introduced a cheaper version of its Model Y SUV with a shorter driving range this month, which starts at 276,000 yuan after subsidies.\nXpeng delivered 17,398 vehicles in the second quarter of the year, a 439% increase year-over-year. The company will be hoping the P5 can help it to continue to grow sales in a new price segment.\nThis month, Xpeng, which is already listed in New York, carried out a so-calleddual primary listing in Hong Kongand raised 14.02 billion Hong Kong dollars ($1.8 billion).","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9,"XPEV":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":214,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":173112413,"gmtCreate":1626645418432,"gmtModify":1633925398889,"author":{"id":"4088198493008700","authorId":"4088198493008700","name":"Thomas8855","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/67cc46e177356572799c4398ddd7b94e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088198493008700","authorIdStr":"4088198493008700"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Gogogo","listText":"Gogogo","text":"Gogogo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/173112413","repostId":"2152681698","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":239,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":146069706,"gmtCreate":1626044835705,"gmtModify":1633930799515,"author":{"id":"4088198493008700","authorId":"4088198493008700","name":"Thomas8855","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/67cc46e177356572799c4398ddd7b94e","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4088198493008700","authorIdStr":"4088198493008700"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good","listText":"Good","text":"Good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/146069706","repostId":"2150306047","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":185,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
