to date, … one of the areas of investor conversation is where does ‘discovery value’ still exist,” Goldman analyst Neil Mehta wrote in a report.</p>\n<p>“One theme that we believe warrants attention is a focus on asset quality and resource,\" Mehta wrote.</p>\n<p>“As a result of terminal value concerns, investors have been focused on which companies can provide return of capital in 2H2021/1H2022, versus which business models are positioned to sustain cash flow on a long-term basis. That said, we view long-term oil demand risks as overstated,” he wrote.</p>\n<p>Exxon stock on Tuesday traded at $61.24, down 0.5%; Occidental stock at $33.01, down 1.1%; and Hess stock at $90.29, up 0.2% at last check.</p>\n<p>As for Exxon, “We believe the differentiated asset base, combined with our constructive oil view, will drive positive earnings revisions, as seen in the Q3 pre-announcement,” Mehta said. He has a $68 price target.</p>\n<p>Considering Occidental, “the quality of the underlying assets at OXY is underappreciated,” Mehta said. “We view Permian Resources, Chemicals, Low Carbon Ventures and the Middle East as strong businesses that have been masked by consolidated leverage.” He has a $40 price target.</p>\n<p>Finally for Hess, Goldman forecasts cash flow growing from $10 per share in 2021, to $22 in 2026 and $30 in 2030. With assets of $3 trillion, JPMorgan Chase is the biggest.</p>\n<p>As the economy continues to recover from the pandemic and inflation continues to surge, interest rates are likely to rise, putting the bank is in a good position to continue its success. Banks benefit from higher rates through a wider \"spread\" — the difference in interest that they pay to customers and what they earn by investing.</p>\n<p>And despite not quite hitting its earning mark last quarter, Bank of America delivered shareholders a dividend hike — upping its yield 17% from 18 cents to 21 cents per share. Currently, the shares offer a dividend yield of 1.9%.</p>\n<p>2. Consumer Staples: PepsiCo (PEP)</p>\n<p>Pepsico is so much more than a major cola and soda brand. Most consumers will be aware that Mountain Dew and Gatorade fall under the Pepsico umbrella.</p>\n<p>But this food and beverage juggernaut also owns Frito-Lay, Quaker Foods, Tropicana, SodaStream and dozens of other brands across the world.</p>\n<p>With everyone spending so much time at home, snack food consumption went way up during the pandemic — which was great news for Pepsi. In July, the company reported that net sales rose more than 20% year over year to $19.22 billion — nicely above expectations of $18 billion.</p>\n<p>And the company is passing on some of those sweet (or salty, depending on your taste) dollars to shareholders through healthy dividends, which have been steadily increasing over the years. Over the past ten years, Pepsico's dividend has grown at a compounded rate of 7.7% versus 6.1% from its main rival Coca-Cola.</p>\n<p>Pepsico shares offer a dividend yield of 2.8%.</p>\n<p>3. Health care: Johnson &amp; Johnson (JNJ)</p>\n<p>Between its business in medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer packaged goods, Johnson &amp; Johnson has become a household name.</p>\n<p>And more than that, its numerous subsidiaries including Band-Aid, Tylenol, Neutrogena, Listerine and Clean &amp; Clear could stand on their own as successful brands.</p>\n<p>JNJ’s diverse holdings in the health care segment ensures it’s able to ride out any economic slumps. Financials: Bank of America (BAC)\nOver the last decade, Bank of America has streamlined and refined its business practices and operations to rise from one of the lowest rated banks in the country to the second-largest bank by assets (roughly $2.3 trillion in total assets). With assets of $3 trillion, JPMorgan Chase is the biggest.\nAs the economy continues to recover from the pandemic and inflation continues to surge, interest rates are likely to rise, putting the bank is in a good position to continue its success. Banks benefit from higher rates through a wider \"spread\" — the difference in interest that they pay to customers and what they earn by investing.\nAnd despite not quite hitting its earning mark last quarter, Bank of America delivered shareholders a dividend hike — upping its yield 17% from 18 cents to 21 cents per share. Currently, the shares offer a dividend yield of 1.9%.\n2. Consumer Staples: PepsiCo (PEP)\nPepsico is so much more than a major cola and soda brand. Most consumers will be aware that Mountain Dew and Gatorade fall under the Pepsico umbrella.\nBut this food and beverage juggernaut also owns Frito-Lay, Quaker Foods, Tropicana, SodaStream and dozens of other brands across the world.\nWith everyone spending so much time at home, snack food consumption went way up during the pandemic — which was great news for Pepsi. In July, the company reported that net sales rose more than 20% year over year to $19.22 billion — nicely above expectations of $18 billion.\nAnd the company is passing on some of those sweet (or salty, depending on your taste) dollars to shareholders through healthy dividends, which have been steadily increasing over the years. Over the past ten years, Pepsico's dividend has grown at a compounded rate of 7.7% versus 6.1% from its main rival Coca-Cola.\nPepsico shares offer a dividend yield of 2.8%.\n3. Health care: Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)\nBetween its business in medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer packaged goods, Johnson & Johnson has become a household name.\nAnd more than that, its numerous subsidiaries including Band-Aid, Tylenol, Neutrogena, Listerine and Clean & Clear could stand on their own as successful brands.\nJNJ’s diverse holdings in the health care segment ensures it’s able to ride out any economic slumps. And with a handful of industry-leading drugs for immunology and cancer treatment under its Janssen Pharamceutica arm, there’s a good deal of growth opportunity for JNJ.\nThe company’s Q2 results were Could negative momentum give way to bargain hunting and turn some of these stock into winners in the foreseeable future? Below are three potential buy-on-dip ideas.</p>\n<p><b>#3 Vertex Pharmaceuticals - $VRTX</b></p>\n<p>The $46 billion market cap pharmaceutical company develops and markets therapies for treating cystic fibrosis.&nbsp;<b>VRTX</b>&nbsp;stock has been down 22% year-to-date and is currently priced at $179 at last check. Wall Street consensus on the stock is a moderate buy. Based on 13 reports in the last three months, the price target consensus of $245 suggests 37% upside potential.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/9ca3ea7d3f8df55881c3873f461b4318\" tg-width=\"677\" tg-height=\"470\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 2: VRTX performance year-to-date.</span></p>\n<p>Bearishness has been well presented by research company Stifel. After&nbsp;downgrading&nbsp;the stock from buy to neutral, the skeptical analyst assigned high market risk for the company’s drug pipeline, given that Vertex is a $50 billion company and its next programs are “unlikely to be narrative changing”.</p>\n<p>On the other hand, Piper Sandler analyst&nbsp;recommended&nbsp;the stock a couple of months ago and bumped his price target on VRTX to $323 from $261. He attributed his bullishness in part to transformational drug Trikafta and convictions that the company would beat on earnings.</p>\n<p><b>#2 Peloton Interactive - $PTON</b></p>\n<p>The company, which provides interactive fitness products and subscriptions, was a pandemic darling last year. In 2021, however, the stock has been struggling.<b>PTON</b>&nbsp;stock has been down 41% year-to-date and is currently priced at $86 at last check.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f3ef56058e86dac52ed1bec3a0acc19a\" tg-width=\"664\" tg-height=\"492\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Figure 3: PTON performance year-to-date.</span></p>\n<p>Despite poor momentum, Wall Street believes that this could be a good time to invest in Peloton stock. The $26 billion market cap company has a buy consensus and a $127 price target that points at 47% upside, based on 22 reports issued in the last three months.</p>\n<p>The bear case is explained by UBS and is backed up by analysis on valuation that is arguably stretched. Analyst Eric Sheridan has recentlyreiterateda sell rating on the stock, forecasting a $70 price on PTON for 18% downside.</p>\n<blockquote>\n <i>\"The stock’s appreciation to more than 17% over two days implies close to $1.2B of sales that the market is assigning to the opportunity based on where the stock is trading on 2023 EV-to-sales average multiple of 4.2x. Street expects 2023 connected fitness subscribers of around 5.06 million. This implies roughly $240 of spend per subscriber per year.\"</i>\n</blockquote>\n<p>On the bullish side, Barclays analyst Mario Lu&nbsp;justified&nbsp;the recent miss in gross margins on higher-than-expected refunds from the Tread recall along with continued increase in shipping costs. Bullishness is reiterated due to fiscal 2022 now being seen as an investment year, as Peloton looks to plow money aggressively into both marketing and R&amp;D – which the analyst believes to be the right long-term decision. He has a buy rating on PTON and 50% upside opportunity.</p>\n<p>Lastly, famed investor Cathie Wood&nbsp;purchased&nbsp;a sizeable batch of PTON stock a few days ago. Tesla’s&nbsp;board currently has nine members who are divided into three classes in staggered three-year terms.</p>\n<p>If the proposal is approved, however, the board will be divided into two classes with staggered two-year terms, with directors distributed as equally between the classes as possible, Tesla said in the&nbsp;filing.</p>\n<p>The board would be reduced to eight members, since Antonio Gracias, a venture capitalist who has served on the Tesla board since 2007, said in 2019 he’d not be seeking reelection when his term ends this year.</p>\n<p>Tesla’s board nominated current board members James Murdoch, the youngest son of News Corp&nbsp;founder Rupert Murdoch, and Kimbal Musk, Chief Executive Elon Musk’s brother, for re-election as class II directors, with terms expiring in 2024. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)</span></p>\n<p>U.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.</p>\n<p>Cloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.</p>\n<p>Below is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.</p>\n<p>To begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/36209ce827d95e822cad5128be8b146a\" tg-width=\"933\" tg-height=\"664\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>ETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.</p>\n<p>Here’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF&nbsp;and the Invesco QQQ Trust&nbsp;(which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/242f135b3c7cca3cbaae3ee574023c1f\" tg-width=\"942\" tg-height=\"577\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"><span>Source: FactSet</span></p>\n<p>The ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF&nbsp;is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.</p>\n<p>Another holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.</p>\n<p>As part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:</p>\n<p><i>“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”</i></p>\n<p><b>Cloud-stock screen</b></p>\n<p>Together, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)\nU.S. investors remain bullish, despite rumblings out of China and the spike in delta variant infections.\nCloud companies — those at the forefront of the shift in computing power to distributed models over the internet — are expected to grow at a rapid clip over the next several years, and four of the five largest exchange traded funds covering the space are close to hitting record highs.\nBelow is a screen of stocks held by those ETFs, showing which are expected to increase their sales the most through 2023. In an industry with many players at relatively early stages, increases in sales, rather than in earnings, might be the best driver of stock prices.\nTo begin the screen, we looked at the five largest cloud ETFs:\nSource: FactSet\nETFs might be your best way to take a broad approach for a long-term play on the cloud revolution. If you are interested in any ETF, you should review the fund manager’s website.\nHere’s a comparison of total returns through Aug. 4, along with those for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF and the Invesco QQQ Trust (which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index) for comparison:\nSource: FactSet\nThe ETFs’ approaches differ. For example, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is the only one that is actively managed. The others track an index. It is also the only one that holds shares of Tesla Inc.,which makes up 10.65% of the portfolio, according to information posted by ARK Invest on Aug. 5. Tesla is an electric-vehicle manufacturer, but it can also be considered a cloud company because it distributes software updates over the internet continually, and offers other cloud-based services.\nAnother holding unique to ARKW among the five cloud ETFs is Walt Disney Co.,which is certainly an important cloud player through its Disney+ streaming service, even if the company doesn’t say directly how much of its sales are derived from that rapidly growing segment.\nAs part of its description of ARKW, FactSet says the following:\n“Broadly speaking, the ARKW’s managers appear focused on big buzzwords such as Internet of Things, cloud computing, digital currencies and wearable technology. While the fund’s focus may be appealing for investors with conviction in these new technologies, portfolio implementation is a more difficult task: Most of the companies developing these advancements are huge corporations for which nascent technologies are only a small fraction of total revenues. As such, it’s very difficult to get pure-play access to ARKW’s targeted technologies — so be sure to confirm that the fund’s holdings — not just its thesis — align with your view of the space.”\nCloud-stock screen\nTogether, the five cloud ETFs listed above hold 147 stocks. To project sales growth through 2023, we used calendar 2020 sales estimates as a baseline and then looked at consensus estimates among analysts polled by FactSet for the subsequent three years, if available. (The 2020 numbers are estimates, because many companies’ fiscal years don’t match the calendar.)\nTo make sure we had a solid set of estimates, we confined the group to the 126 companies covered by at least five analysts polled by FactSet, for which consensus sales estimates for calendar 2020 through calendar 2023 are available.\nHere are the 20 companies projected to have the highest compound annual growth rates (CAGR) for sales through calendar 2023:\n\nSource: FactSet\nThere are actually 21 stocks listed, including Zillow Group Inc.’s Class A and Class C shares.\nIt is interesting to see that the list is dominated by stocks held by ARKW. The gain comes even as revenue falls short of Wall Street forecasts.</p>\n<p><b>2)&nbsp;Gannett(GCI) </b>– The USA Today publisher earned 10 cents per share for its latest quarter, compared with forecasts of a 36 cents per share loss. Revenue also topped Wall Street forecasts. The company saw digital subscriber numbers jump 41% from a year earlier, and the stock rallied 6.3% in the premarket.</p>\n<p><b>3)&nbsp;DraftKings(DKNG)</b> – The sports betting company’s stock jumped 3.5% premarket after it reported better-than-expected quarterly profit and revenue and raised its revenue forecast for the full year. DraftKings saw significant gains in a number of key metrics, including a 26% jump in monthly revenue per user.</p>\n<p><b>4)&nbsp;Novavax(NVAX)</b> – Novavax shares tumbled 11.7% in premarket trading after the drugmaker said it would delay seeking emergency use authorization for its Covid-19 vaccine until the fourth quarter. Novavax also posted a wider-than-expected loss and saw revenue fall below Wall Street forecasts.</p>\n<p><b>5)&nbsp;Didi Global(DIDI)</b> – Didi gained 4.1% in premarket action, following a Bloomberg report saying the China-based ride-hailing company was considering giving up control of its data to help resolve a regulatory probe by the Chinese government.</p>\n<p><b>6)&nbsp;Zillow Group(ZG)</b> - Zillow reported adjusted quarterly earnings of 44 cents per share, 20 cents above estimates, with the real estate website operator’s revenue above estimates as well. Zillow also gave an upbeat growth forecast, as it scales up its home-flipping business, and said it expects sales this quarter to exceed $2 billion for the first time. Zillow added 1.8% in the premarket.</p>\n<p><b>7)&nbsp;Virgin Galactic(SPCE)</b> – Virgin Galactic lost 39 cents per share for its latest quarter, 6 cents more than expected, though the space flight company did report much better-than-expected revenue. It also announced it will sell seats for space tourism flights at $450,000 and up. The stock was up 3.1% in premarket trading.</p>\n<p><b>8)&nbsp;Beyond Meat(BYND)</b> – Beyond Meat slid 3.7% in premarket action after it reported a quarterly loss of 31 cents per share, 7 cents wider than expected. Revenue for the maker of plant-based meat alternatives did come in above Street forecasts, but it gave a cautious outlook due to “more conservative” orders by its customers due to Covid-related uncertainty.</p>\n<p><b>9)&nbsp;Dropbox(DBX) </b>– Dropbox shares gained 3.5% in premarket trading after its adjusted earnings of 40 cents per share beat estimates by 7 cents and the cloud storage company’s revenue came in above forecasts as well.</p>\n<p><b>10)&nbsp;Cornerstone OnDemand(CSOD) </b>– Cornerstone agreed to be bought out by private equity firm Clearlake Capital Group. Clearlake will pay about $3.8 billion, or $57.50 per share in cash for the cloud computing firm. Cornerstone surged 13.3% in the premarket.</p>\n<p><b>11)&nbsp;Zynga(ZNGA) </b>– Zynga shares plunged 15.8% in the premarket after the mobile gaming company gave a disappointing full-year forecast, anticipating a slowdown in gaming. Zynga also reported adjusted quarterly earnings of 4 cents per share, 5 cents shy of estimates, with revenue below estimates as well.</p>\n<p><b>12)&nbsp;Carvana(CVNA) </b>– Carvana shares rallied 11.3% in premarket trading after the online used-car retailer posted an unexpected profit – its first ever - for its latest quarter. The company’s revenue also exceeded analyst forecasts by a wide margin. Auto sales, in general, have enjoyed a boom in demand since the pandemic began last year.</p>\n<p><b>13)&nbsp;Yelp(YELP)</b> – Yelp earned 5 cents per share for its latest quarter, compared with consensus forecasts for a 9 cents per share loss. The online review site operator also reported better-than-expected revenue and boosted its full-year forecast as ad revenue continues to strengthen. Shares surged 12.9% in premarket action.</p>\n<p><b>In FX,</b> the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index was up 0.2%; the dollar rallied ahead of key U.S. jobs data that’s set to put a focus on the Federal Reserve’s policy outlook amid calls from officials to pare bond purchases. The greenback strengthened against all its G-10 peers, with the euro and the Norwegian krone among the biggest decliners. “A strong U.S. jobs number today should see the U.S. money market rates continue to work their way back to the highs seen in early July. This should support the dollar against the low- yielders of JPY and EUR,” said ING analysts including Chris Turner. Thursday’s release showing a second weekly drop in U.S. jobless claims stoked expectations for strong payrolls data and ignoring the huge ADP payrolls miss. Short-term accounts are carrying short AUD/USD positions into the report, according to FX traders. The Thai baht led losses among emerging markets currencies, emblematic of how a surge in coronavirus infections and deaths in some countries around the world is hitting confidence in their currencies and economies. Turkey's lira was down 0.8% in its fourth straight day of losses .</p>\n<p>“EUR/USD is dropping toward 1.18 as short-term U.S. rates creeps higher before NFP,” say Danske Bank analysts including Jens Naervig Pedersen. “An ongoing strengthening of the labor market combined with rising inflation as the CPI-numbers are published next week is significant for the monetary policy outlook as shown by the recent hawkish comments from Fed’s vice chairman Clarida regarding tapering and rate hikes”</p>\n<p><b>In rates, </b>treasuries traded heavy across long-end of the curve, with the bear steepening move extended following large block sale in ultra-long bond futures shortly after 6am ET. 10-Year Treasury yields rose u to around 1.255%, cheaper by 3.2bp on the day and underperforming bunds by 1.5bp; long-end led losses steepens 2s10s, 5s30s spread by 2.3bp and 1.6bp on the day.&nbsp; Pockets of selling also emerged during Asia session as futures drifted lower, leaving yields cheaper by up to 4bp across long-end ahead of 8:30am ET July jobs report.</p>\n<p><b>In commodities,</b> oil prices rose on Friday but were still set for their biggest weekly loss since October after falls earlier in the week triggered by rising COVID-19 cases and a surprise build in U.S. crude stockpiles. WTI crude was $69.99 a barrel, up 0.47%. Brent crude traded at $72.22 per barrel, up 1.29%. The stronger dollar and potential for higher yields hurt gold with the spot price down 0.41% at $1,796.52.
