Clean energy stocks are down roughly 20% this year on an absolute basis, while energy, commodities, defense and tobacco stocks have all outperformed. This sharp contrast comes despite flows into ESG funds continuing at a record pace.\nRising prices will likely continue to pose a significant challenge for ESG funds in particular, Bernstein said, but added that there are a number of ways for these investors to lower their risk exposure.\nIn a note published June 10, Bernstein screened for ESG stocks in the U.S., Europe and Asia that are best positioned for rising inflation.\nBernstein screened for the stocks by considering three ways that sustainable investors could brace for a rising inflationary environment:\n1. Seeking out high-scoring ESG stocks that are positively exposed to rising bond yields.\n2. Investing in high-scoring ESG stocks which have robust pricing power.\n3. Identifying companies that have increased exposure to the energy, commodities and financials sectors.\nIn considering stocks that should be in an ESG portfolio, Bernstein recognized that investors may struggle to prioritize so-called “sin” stocks, such as energy and commodity companies, although these “value” stocks usually perform well when inflation and bond yields rise. Value stocks are seen as being underappreciated by the market.\nBernstein also highlighted that financials tend to be left on the sidelines by ESG investors, since measuring their environmental credentials can be tricky.\nU.S.\nThe analysts said that U.S. ESG funds are “not that well positioned” for inflation because they tend to be underweight on so-called value stocks. The bank did, however, single outState Street,LearandBank of New York Mellonamong its top picks of those positively exposed to rising bond yields. The three U.S. firms were found to score in the top quintile on “environment,” according to data from Sustainalytics, and had a positive correlation with U.S. 10-year bond yields over the past 12 months.\nHome Depot,Adobe,PepsiCo were named by Bernstein as being among the stocks with the highest pricing power and ESG scores.\nEurope\nESG funds in Europe were found to be particularly exposed to rising inflation and the bank said tighter constraints and regulations on sustainability made lowering inflation risk more difficult than in other regions.\nNonetheless,ING,EniandTotalEnergieswere picked out among the region’s high-scoring ESG stocks within industries that are positively exposed to rising bond yields.Neste,Norsk HydroandKingfisherwere all cited as top picks when it comes to strong pricing power and high ESG scores, the analysts at Bernstein said.\nAsia\nAsian ESG funds are better positioned than their counterparts in the U.S. and Europe, the bank said. This is likely to reflect the fact that ESG investing is still in an early stage in the region and many investors are predominantly focused on environmental issues rather than fully integrating social and governance considerations, the bank said.\nAmong the bank’s high-scoring “improver” stocks in the region that are positively exposed to rising U.S. bond yields areMelco Resorts,Trip.comandAdani Ports and Special Economic Zone.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":609,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":120764051,"gmtCreate":1624338189573,"gmtModify":1634007550295,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/120764051","repostId":"1116834236","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1116834236","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624333365,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1116834236?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-22 11:42","market":"us","language":"en","title":"American investors are trying to buy a UK supermarket. That's a 29% premium to Morrisons' (MRWSF) closing price on Friday, giving it a market value of around £5.5 billion ($7.6 billion).
\n
Shares in the company surged more than 30% in London on Monday, taking the share price above the takeover offer and lifting other stocks in the sector. Sainsbury's (JSNSF) and Ocado (OCDDY) climbed over 4%, with Marks & Spencer (MAKSY) rising nearly 3% and Tesco (TSCDF) up more than 1%.
\n
Morrisons rejected the proposal in its statement on Saturday, saying that it \"significantly undervalued\" the company and its future prospects. Clayton, Dubilier & Rice now has until July 17 to make a firm offer.
\n
The move comes amid heightened investor activity in UK retail and a spate of takeover bids for British companies, undervalued for years because of poor returns linked to drab growth and a weak pound following the Brexit referendum of 2016.
\n
In October, Walmart (WMT) sold supermarket chain Asda to European private equity group TDR Capital and the founders of a global convenience store business. Separately, Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky recently increased his stake in Sainsbury's to 10%, adding to speculation that it could be the next takeover target.
\n
Analysts are speculating that Tesco, Britain's biggest supermarket chain, might also attract a buyer.
\n
\"The volume of liquidity, reflecting monetary policy, and the uptake of capital by family offices, high net worth investors and private equity, means that even Tesco, with its £18 billion ($25 billion) market capitalization, is not too big to be subject to an offer,\" Clive Black, head of research at Shore Capital said in a note on Monday.
\n
Sainsbury's and Tesco, which benefited from a surge in demand during lockdowns, are now poised to benefit from a strong economic recovery in Britain following the pandemic. Analysts say shoppers are likely to continue eating more meals at home even with restaurants reopening, particularly as many offices remain closed.
\n
Tesco CEO Ken Murphy told analysts on a call on Friday that online demand has been \"incredibly resilient even with the easing of restrictions.\"
\n
\"We expect sales to remain well above pre Covid-19 level through the remainder of the year,\" he added.
\n
Both leading retailers have also managed to keep costs under control, are generating large amounts of cash and have narrowed price gaps with German discounters Aldi and Lidl, according to Shore Capital's Black.
\n
This could make them prime targets for the likes of Amazon (AMZN), he added. \"The Asda bid and the Kretinsky investment means that the topic of Amazon's plans will also be one of ongoing discussion around Sainsbury and Tesco,\" Black said.
\n
The online retailer, which has been expanding its grocery offering since buying Whole Foods in 2017, already has a close relationship with Morrisons, which supplies its Prime and Pantry customers in the United Kingdom with dry, fresh and frozen products.
\n
But the market is not betting on a rival bid from Amazon. \"There is no indication in the [Morrisons] share price today that Amazon will come in and outbid Clayton, Dubilier & Rice,\" said Russ Mould, investment director at stockbroker AJ Bell.
\n
With a languishing share price and over £7 billion ($9.7 billion) in assets, including a real estate portfolio worth more than the company's market value, Morrisons \"ticks a lot of private equity boxes,\" he told CNN Business.
\n
Returning to favor?
\n
Investor interest in UK assets extends beyond grocers. There have been over 50 bids for UK-listed companies in the last eight months, only six of which have since been abandoned, according to Mould.
\n
The average premium offered has been 34%, indicating that many of these companies may be undervalued by the market following years of weak shareholder returns. That's a 29% premium to Morrisons' (MRWSF) closing price on Friday, giving it a market value of around £5.5 billion ($7.6 billion).\nShares in the company surged more than 30% in London on Monday, taking the share price above the takeover offer and lifting other stocks in the sector. Sainsbury's (JSNSF) and Ocado (OCDDY) climbed over 4%, with Marks & Spencer (MAKSY) rising nearly 3% and Tesco (TSCDF) up more than 1%.\nMorrisons rejected the proposal in its statement on Saturday, saying that it \"significantly undervalued\" the company and its future prospects. Clayton, Dubilier & Rice now has until July 17 to make a firm offer.\nThe move comes amid heightened investor activity in UK retail and a spate of takeover bids for British companies, undervalued for years because of poor returns linked to drab growth and a weak pound following the Brexit referendum of 2016.\nIn October, Walmart (WMT) sold supermarket chain Asda to European private equity group TDR Capital and the founders of a global convenience store business. Separately, Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky recently increased his stake in Sainsbury's to 10%, adding to speculation that it could be the next takeover target.\nAnalysts are speculating that Tesco, Britain's biggest supermarket chain, might also attract a buyer.\n\"The volume of liquidity, reflecting monetary policy, and the uptake of capital by family offices, high net worth investors and private equity, means that even Tesco, with its £18 billion ($25 billion) market capitalization, is not too big to be subject to an offer,\" Clive Black, head of research at Shore Capital said in a note on Monday.\nSainsbury's and Tesco, which benefited from a surge in demand during lockdowns, are now poised to benefit from a strong economic recovery in Britain following the pandemic. Analysts say shoppers are likely to continue eating more meals at home even with restaurants reopening, particularly as many offices remain closed.\nTesco CEO Ken Murphy told analysts on a call on Friday that online demand has been \"incredibly resilient even with the easing of restrictions.\"\n\"We expect sales to remain well above pre Covid-19 level through the remainder of the year,\" he added.\nBoth leading retailers have also managed to keep costs under control, are generating large amounts of cash and have narrowed price gaps with German discounters Aldi and Lidl, according to Shore Capital's Black.\nThis could make them prime targets for the likes of Amazon (AMZN), he added. \"The Asda bid and the Kretinsky investment means that the topic of Amazon's plans will also be one of ongoing discussion around Sainsbury and Tesco,\" Black said.\nThe online retailer, which has been expanding its grocery offering since buying Whole Foods in 2017, already has a close relationship with Morrisons, which supplies its Prime and Pantry customers in the United Kingdom with dry, fresh and frozen products.\nBut the market is not betting on a rival bid from Amazon. \"There is no indication in the [Morrisons] share price today that Amazon will come in and outbid Clayton, Dubilier & Rice,\" said Russ Mould, investment director at stockbroker AJ Bell.\nWith a languishing share price and over £7 billion ($9.7 billion) in assets, including a real estate portfolio worth more than the company's market value, Morrisons \"ticks a lot of private equity boxes,\" he told CNN Business.\nReturning to favor?\nInvestor interest in UK assets extends beyond grocers. There have been over 50 bids for UK-listed companies in the last eight months, only six of which have since been abandoned, according to Mould.\nThe average premium offered has been 34%, indicating that many of these companies may be undervalued by the market following years of weak shareholder returns. Over the last 12 months, there have been 95 announced offers for UK-listed companies with a combined value of $107 billion, according to Dealogic data.\n\"The UK has consistently underperformed on the global stage since June 2016's Brexit vote and sterling has failed to regain the levels at which it traded before Britain decide to leave the EU,\" Mould said in a recent note. \"That rotten effort may mean that UK stocks are unloved and therefore potentially undervalued,\" he added.\nUK and European stock market indexes stand to benefit from the post-pandemic recovery, given the high representation of companies such as automakers and banks that perform well when the economy is on the upswing.\nThey may also offer better value for investors following much more robust gains in US indexes over the past decade, when European markets have been held back by a dearth of tech companies and lackluster economic growth in the region.\nThe FTSE 100 (UKX) has climbed just 26% over the past decade, while Europe's STOXX 600 (SXXL) is up 85%. In thisMotley Fool Livevideorecorded on June 9, Motley Fool contributors Keith Speights and Brian Orelli discuss one reason why Biogen isn't a buy after its key FDA victory.
\n
Keith Speights:Let's segue then to the obvious question here. The question that a lot of investors are asking now is, \"Should I buy Biogen stock after this big FDA approval for its Alzheimer's disease drug?\" Brian, what should investors be factoring in to their decision making process right now? What's your take on whether or not Biogen is a buy right now?
\n
Brian Orelli:From a valuation standpoint, it's easy to look at historical data and see where they've been trading. I tend to look at price-to-sales just because drug companies, if you use the earnings, it's a little more difficult because they have a lot of one-time events and acquisitions and things like that and licensing deals that throw off their GAAP earnings. Then if you're looking at historical earnings, they usually don't back those out, so I use price-to-sales as a metric.
\n
Biogen is trading at least after Monday's, after Monday's jump, it was at 4.9 price-to-sales ratio. Last time it traded at that level was in the 2018, 2019 time frame, and at that point, revenue was hovering around 10% growth.
\n
To justify this price-to-sales ratio, you have to expect that sales are going to grow by 10% per year. Revenue was $13.45 billion in 2020. You need to get to $14.8 billion to get to that 10% growth. Guidance for next year is for it to drop to $10.45 billion to $10.75 billion, and they had already factored in modest revenue from Aduhelm in 2021.
\n
At the high end, Biogen needs $4 billion in sales to justify the current valuation. Four billion would be completely reasonable for an Alzheimer's disease drug, and $10 billion would probably be reasonable, but that would be a drug that actually helps patients. As we've said, there's not enough data to know whether Aduhelm actually helps patients.
\n
Medicare, they've got the drug approved so that's good, but they need to get the doctors to prescribe it, and they need to get insurers to cover it. Medicare will probably cover it, but it's an infused product and that means it's covered under Medicare Part B, B as in boy, not D as in drugs. That comes with a 20% copay after reaching the deductible. We're talking about $10,000 for the patients they're going to have to pay on the drug. That's going to really limit sales.
\n
If you want to look at it at a different way, if you assume the valuation already factors in the fall to around $10.5 billion and then you are looking for 10% growth from there, now you only need $1 billion or so in sales to justify that growth. Maybe that seems a little more doable, but then that assumes that the revenue from the multiple sclerosis drugs, Tecfidera and Rituxan, that are causing the drop this year, and that you have to assume that's going to just stop.
\n
I don't think that's going to stop, so that means either they're going to generate more than $1 billion to justify 10% growth from 2021-2022. Very long story short, I have a hard time seeing the value of investing at this level.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Biogen Isn't a Buy After Its Alzheimer's Drug Approval
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Biogen Isn't a Buy After Its Alzheimer's Drug Approval\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-06-21 17:32 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Here's one longtime healthcare expert's perspective.\n\nBiogen(NASDAQ:BIIB)has been a huge winner for investors who owned the stock in anticipation of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"BIIB":"渤健公司"},"source_url":"https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/06/20/why-biogen-isnt-a-buy-after-its-alzheimers-drug-ap/","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1136994311","content_text":"Here's one longtime healthcare expert's perspective.\n\nBiogen(NASDAQ:BIIB)has been a huge winner for investors who owned the stock in anticipation of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of its Alzheimer's disease drug, Aduhelm. Very long story short, I have a hard time seeing the value of investing at this level.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":241,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":167287468,"gmtCreate":1624271201454,"gmtModify":1634008625067,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ev is the future!","listText":"Ev is the future!","text":"Ev is the future!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/167287468","repostId":"1172678753","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":204,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":167287892,"gmtCreate":1624271133516,"gmtModify":1634008625413,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":" Wow, looks like big news","listText":" Wow, looks like big news","text":"Wow, looks like big news","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/167287892","repostId":"1181147458","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1181147458","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624269824,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1181147458?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-21 18:03","market":"fut","language":"en","title":"Top Ag Traders Forecast \"Mini Supercycle\"","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1181147458","media":"zerohedge","summary":"Before the plunge in commodities late in the week, top executives from Cargill, Cofco, Viterra, and ","content":"
Before the plunge in commodities late in the week, top executives from Cargill, Cofco, Viterra, and Scoular said this week at the FT Commodities Global Summit thata \"mini-supercycle\" in agricultural commodities could be on the horizon, boosted by China demand and increasing use for biofuels.
\n
These execs forecasted corn, soybeans, and wheat markets will remain robust over the next two to four years.
\n
\n \"We certainly see a mini supercycle,\" said David Mattiske, chief executive of Viterra, majority-owned by Glencore, told the FT Commodities Global Summit.\"We're in a demand-driven environment with the themes of a growing population, growing wealth, people consuming more. The surge comes in the aftermath of a poston Reddit investor forum r/WallStreetBets discussed short positions in the electric vehicle company.\nWhat Happened:The post by user Trancify pointed out that there are 9.62 million registered shares shorted while Arrival has a float of 51.7 million.\nTrancify noted that the 9.62 million shorted number did not include Failure to Delivers (FTD) or “Naked Shorts”, which the poster said amounted to 1 million shares — citing Fintel data.\nFurther, the post pointed out the discrepancy between the number of shares available for shorting and the actual number shorted.\nWhy It Matters:The poster hinted that someone has been buying or shorting 14,000 Arrival contracts per day and the open interest is reset each day implying the options are being exercised.\n“Short interest on $ARVL is massive, and interested parties seem to be betting on a PIPE unlock soon. They are paying over 100% for their borrow fee and could be forced to cover if the stock gains upward momentum. They appear to be manipulating the price and buying time through options contracts,” the post stated.\nWallStreetBets is best-known for short squeezes in stocks like GameStop Corp(NYSE:GME) and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc(NYSE:AMC).\nOn Tuesday, Arrival attracted 133 mentions on WallStreetBets. At press time, the most discussed names were Clean Energy Fuels Corp(NASDAQ:CLNE), AMC, and ContextLogic Inc(NASDAQ:WISH).","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":258,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163853691,"gmtCreate":1623874476113,"gmtModify":1634026699498,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Thanks for this","listText":"Thanks for this","text":"Thanks for this","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163853691","repostId":"1100499327","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":368,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163853876,"gmtCreate":1623874368495,"gmtModify":1634026699621,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Exports gonna take a big hit","listText":"Exports gonna take a big hit","text":"Exports gonna take a big hit","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163853876","repostId":"2143791791","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":149,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163853968,"gmtCreate":1623874334954,"gmtModify":1634026699988,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"That’s good news!","listText":"That’s good news!","text":"That’s good news!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163853968","repostId":"1187947537","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1187947537","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623850100,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1187947537?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-16 21:28","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Goldman Sachs sees a 45% rally in this space stock","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1187947537","media":"cnbc","summary":"Goldman Sachs began on Wednesday coverage of space stock Maxar Technologies with a buy rating, seein","content":"
\n
Goldman Sachs began on Wednesday coverage of space stock Maxar Technologies with a buy rating, seeing a 45% climb for shares in the year ahead.\n“We think MAXR has a gem business in earth intelligence ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The stock is down nearly 7% this year, but ha smore than doubled over the past 12 months with the company in the midst of a multiyear turnaround.\nGoldman Sachs has a $52 price target on Maxar shares. Poponak emphasized Maxar’s position as the “world leader in high resolution earth imagery.”\n“This is high margin, recurring business, that has compounded cash flows for years. Earth observation data and analytics are increasingly prioritized by government and commercial customers, and the upcoming launch of the Worldview Legion constellation will increase capacity to meet excess demand,” Poponak wrote.\nA key revenue stream for Maxar’s earth imagery business is the National Reconnaissance Office, which expects to issue new long-term satellite imagery contracts in the near future. Maxar faces competition from the rise of private companies such as Planet Labs and BlackSky, but Goldman is not concerned about that.\n“New competitors are coming to this market but we think they are far behind MAXR,” Poponak added.\nMaxar’s space infrastructure business “has been loss-making the last several years” due to the decline in the number of orders for large geostationary communications satellites, a market which Poponak pointed out has gone “through a downturn.”\n“That market has now stabilized, with stronger orders in 2020 and a wave of replacement demand coming up,” Poponak said. “Further, MAXR is diversifying into Civil and Defense end markets, which would be incremental to the current revenue base and drive meaningful top-line growth, as well as offer greater visibility into sustained profitability.”\nGoldman Sachs believes Maxar’s $2.6 billion valuation is “very attractive,” with the company giving 2023 earnings targets that Poponak says “may actually be a bit conservative.”\n“We expect continued improvement in financials to drive a re-rating, as overhang from a challenging past cedes to a promising future,” Poponak wrote.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":190,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":129071563,"gmtCreate":1624348527952,"gmtModify":1634007439603,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"High end yo","listText":"High end yo","text":"High end yo","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/129071563","repostId":"1178646274","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":595,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":120764105,"gmtCreate":1624338209807,"gmtModify":1634007549926,"author":{"id":"3555203564605155","authorId":"3555203564605155","name":"ZeroExcel","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1a8be8e53d95dbaa3edaf7f261fb1246","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3555203564605155","authorIdStr":"3555203564605155"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Well, inflation is definitely needed","listText":"Well, inflation is definitely needed","text":"Well, inflation is definitely needed","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/120764105","repostId":"1116451605","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1116451605","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624332973,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1116451605?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-22 11:36","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Inflation is a problem for sustainable investors — but these stocks will ride it out, Bernstein says","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1116451605","media":"cnbc","summary":"Rising inflation can be a “big problem” for sustainable investors, according to Bernstein, which nam","content":"
\n
Rising inflation can be a “big problem” for sustainable investors, according to Bernstein, which named the best stocks to ride out this trend.\nThe bank said that inflation, and the potential for ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Clean energy stocks are down roughly 20% this year on an absolute basis, while energy, commodities, defense and tobacco stocks have all outperformed. Maybe not quite so.
\n
During the GameStop trading frenzy, some observers worried many rookie retail investors banding together on sites like Reddit’s WallStreetBets would bet big — a so-called “YOLO trade” in the forum’sslang— andend up losing badly.
\n
No doubt, this wasa serious event that rocked the stock market, bringing it “dangerously close” to collapse, according to Thomas Peterffy, founder and chairman of Interactive Brokers Group.
\n
But at a closely-watched congressional hearing Thursday on the rise and fall of GameStop shares and other so-called “meme stocks,” statements by one of the key players in the trading firestorm revealed that young investors generally aren’t betting big to reap quick gains.
\n
“Contrary to some very misleading and highly uninformed reports, we see evidence that most of our customers are investing for the long term,” said Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, the popular trading platform that caughtmassive irefor temporarily restricting trades on GameStopGME,-11.43%,AMC EntertainmentAMC,-0.72%and several other companies. As the hearing continued, he repeated that point under lawmaker questions.
\n
“What we see is generally not consistent with popular memes suggesting that most of our brokerage customers are unsophisticated day traders taking inordinate risks with large sums of money on complex financial products,”Tenev wrote in prepared testimony submitted ahead of the hearing, pushing back on the idea that his companyencouraged reckless tradingon a platform with 13 million users.
\n
Just 2% of Robinhood users qualified as “pattern day traders” who made four or more trades within five business days, he said. Thirteen percent traded basic options contracts, which can be higher risk, higher reward than straight-ahead buying or selling.
\n
In the face of some pointed questions, he also insisted Robinhood isn’t trying to turn the user experience into a game. “We know investing is serious and that’s why most of our customers are buy and hold,” he said.
\n
(Before the GameStop saga, Massachusetts state regulators filed a complaint against Robinhood for allegedly making trading seem too fun until loses occur. The company previously said itdisputes the allegation.)
\n
Tenev and lawmakershave sparredon what Robinhood should and shouldn’t have done during the GameStop saga. GameStop shares once traded at a high point of $483. By Thursday’s market close, GameStop shares were $40.69.
\n
But either way, Tenev’s testimony gave an interesting peek at who the newest retail investors are and how much money they are pouring into the market. After all, retail investors were already increasingly entering the stock market before the GameStop drama started.
\n
Fifty-five percent of Americans directly own stock, according to aGallup surveylast year, while 32% of 18- to 29-year-olds said they owned stock.
\n
The median age of Robinhood investors is 31 and half of users say they are first-time investors. The median account size is about $240, according to Tenev’s statement, and the average account size is about $5,000.
\n
The fact that 13% of Robinhood users are trading options gives some advocates pause. Barbara Roper, director of investor protection at the Consumer Federation of America, saidthat “strikes us as a pretty high percentage when you consider the characteristics of Robinhood’s customer base (disproportionately young, first-time investors with small accounts).”
\n
Robinhood investors also tend to be a slightly more racially diverse crowd, according to Tenev’s testimony. Nine percent of users are Black, compared to 3% at other firms and 16% are Hispanic, versus 7% at other firms, according to Tenev’s statement.
\n
“Retail investors making up this new surge are different,” testified Jennifer Schulp, the Cato Institute’s director of financial regulation studies.
\n
Retail investors are nicknamed as“dumb money”on Wall Street, Schulp said. “I think it’s insulting. I think the term needs to go out the window. I think the GameStop situation is proof the retail investors are revolutionizing the market …. I think the retail investors here are learning by doing, which is one of the best ways to learn.”
\n
She pointed to research from theFINRA Investor Education Foundationreleased earlier this month digging into the demographics and account balances of new retail investors.
\n
One-third of new investors who opened a taxable investment account for the first time in 2020 said they had account balances of less than $500, versus 16% of experienced investors. Twenty-three percent of new investors had account balances up to $2,000. Twenty percent of experienced investors had account balances up to $2,000.
\n
The survey found a more racially diverse set of new investors, with 17% of new investors being Black. Seven percent of experienced investors are Black, the poll said.
\n
As the hearing continued, some lawmakers questioned whether more guardrails need to be in place, while others said lawmakers shouldn’t condescend to retail investors and assume they know best.
\n
“Many Americans feel that the system is stacked against them and no matter what, Wall Street always wins,” said Rep. Maxine Waters, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee. “In this instance, many retail investors appeared motivated by a desire to beat Wall Street at its own game and given the losses that many retail investors have sustained as a result of volatility in the system, there are many whose beliefs that the system is rigged against them has been reinforced.”
\n
The GameStop saga was a “fundamental change,” said Rep. Maybe not quite so.\nDuring the GameStop trading frenzy, some observers worried many rookie retail investors banding together on sites like Reddit’s WallStreetBets would bet big — a so-called “YOLO trade” in the forum’sslang— andend up losing badly.\nNo doubt, this wasa serious event that rocked the stock market, bringing it “dangerously close” to collapse, according to Thomas Peterffy, founder and chairman of Interactive Brokers Group.\nBut at a closely-watched congressional hearing Thursday on the rise and fall of GameStop shares and other so-called “meme stocks,” statements by one of the key players in the trading firestorm revealed that young investors generally aren’t betting big to reap quick gains.\n“Contrary to some very misleading and highly uninformed reports, we see evidence that most of our customers are investing for the long term,” said Vlad Tenev, CEO of Robinhood, the popular trading platform that caughtmassive irefor temporarily restricting trades on GameStopGME,-11.43%,AMC EntertainmentAMC,-0.72%and several other companies. As the hearing continued, he repeated that point under lawmaker questions.\n“What we see is generally not consistent with popular memes suggesting that most of our brokerage customers are unsophisticated day traders taking inordinate risks with large sums of money on complex financial products,”Tenev wrote in prepared testimony submitted ahead of the hearing, pushing back on the idea that his companyencouraged reckless tradingon a platform with 13 million users.\nJust 2% of Robinhood users qualified as “pattern day traders” who made four or more trades within five business days, he said. Thirteen percent traded basic options contracts, which can be higher risk, higher reward than straight-ahead buying or selling.\nIn the face of some pointed questions, he also insisted Robinhood isn’t trying to turn the user experience into a game. “We know investing is serious and that’s why most of our customers are buy and hold,” he said.\n(Before the GameStop saga, Massachusetts state regulators filed a complaint against Robinhood for allegedly making trading seem too fun until loses occur. The company previously said itdisputes the allegation.)\nTenev and lawmakershave sparredon what Robinhood should and shouldn’t have done during the GameStop saga. GameStop shares once traded at a high point of $483. By Thursday’s market close, GameStop shares were $40.69.\nBut either way, Tenev’s testimony gave an interesting peek at who the newest retail investors are and how much money they are pouring into the market. After all, retail investors were already increasingly entering the stock market before the GameStop drama started.\nFifty-five percent of Americans directly own stock, according to aGallup surveylast year, while 32% of 18- to 29-year-olds said they owned stock.\nThe median age of Robinhood investors is 31 and half of users say they are first-time investors. The median account size is about $240, according to Tenev’s statement, and the average account size is about $5,000.\nThe fact that 13% of Robinhood users are trading options gives some advocates pause. Barbara Roper, director of investor protection at the Consumer Federation of America, saidthat “strikes us as a pretty high percentage when you consider the characteristics of Robinhood’s customer base (disproportionately young, first-time investors with small accounts).”\nRobinhood investors also tend to be a slightly more racially diverse crowd, according to Tenev’s testimony. Nine percent of users are Black, compared to 3% at other firms and 16% are Hispanic, versus 7% at other firms, according to Tenev’s statement.\n“Retail investors making up this new surge are different,” testified Jennifer Schulp, the Cato Institute’s director of financial regulation studies.\nRetail investors are nicknamed as“dumb money”on Wall Street, Schulp said. “I think it’s insulting. I think the term needs to go out the window. I think the GameStop situation is proof the retail investors are revolutionizing the market …. I think the retail investors here are learning by doing, which is one of the best ways to learn.”\nShe pointed to research from theFINRA Investor Education Foundationreleased earlier this month digging into the demographics and account balances of new retail investors.\nOne-third of new investors who opened a taxable investment account for the first time in 2020 said they had account balances of less than $500, versus 16% of experienced investors. Twenty-three percent of new investors had account balances up to $2,000. Twenty percent of experienced investors had account balances up to $2,000.\nThe survey found a more racially diverse set of new investors, with 17% of new investors being Black. Seven percent of experienced investors are Black, the poll said.\nAs the hearing continued, some lawmakers questioned whether more guardrails need to be in place, while others said lawmakers shouldn’t condescend to retail investors and assume they know best.\n“Many Americans feel that the system is stacked against them and no matter what, Wall Street always wins,” said Rep. Maxine Waters, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee. “In this instance, many retail investors appeared motivated by a desire to beat Wall Street at its own game and given the losses that many retail investors have sustained as a result of volatility in the system, there are many whose beliefs that the system is rigged against them has been reinforced.”\nThe GameStop saga was a “fundamental change,” said Rep. Patrick McHenry, the ranking Republican on the committee. The swell in trading was propelled by social media and a wealth of new information at investors’ fingertips.\n“I think if we’ve learned anything from these past few weeks, it’s that these average everyday investors are pretty darn sophisticated,” McHenry said. “There is wisdom to the crowd.”\nThe government needs to make it easier for everyday investors to buy into the market, he said. “Instead of shutting the American public out through new regulations, new forms of taxation or so-called protections, let’s use this opprotunity to side with them.”\nOne of the witnesses was Keith Gill, a 34-year-old independent investor with online handles like “Roaring Kitty” who turned his GameStop investment into millions. He made all his investment decisions based on publicly-availabile information, he told Congress.\n“I would be the first to acknowledge that investing in stocks and options is incredibly risky, and it’s so important for people to do their own thorough research before investing,” Gill said. “Folks should be able to freely express their views on a stock, and they should be able to buy or not buy a stock based on those views.”\nGameStop shares are up nearly 116% year-to-date.
