Concerns over the omicron coronavirus variant have also pressured equities.
\n
These forces have thrown the broad investment outlook for the start of 2022 into flux, but what hasn’t changed is the bullish view on Netflix shares. Wall Street’s optimism hinges on the company’s ability to lure new subscribers with best-in-class content, boosting margins and cash flow along the way.
\n
The 12-month average analyst price target comes in at $683, which implies a 13% gain from Tuesday’s closing price of $604.92. That’s less than the 28% increase analysts project for streaming rival Walt Disney Co., but it would extend Netflix’s streak of double-digit annual gains.
\n
“Despite market turbulence, we’re still interested in having exposure to tech companies,” said Erica Furfaro, senior portfolio analyst at ClearBridge Investments, which holds Netflix shares. “Even in a rising rate environment, being invested behind the best growth winners is still a prudent approach.”
\n
Netflix this year defied skeptics who fretted that it might stall as the world began to open up from lockdowns. After falling in the first half, the stock climbed to fresh highs on the unexpected success of South Korean show “Squid Game,” which became Netflix’s biggest series launch ever.
\n
Shares had already started to climb in early August, with the stock riding a three-month, 33% rally as Wall Street began to appreciate the slew of shows and movies coming in the third and fourth quarters, including new seasons of “Money Heist” and “Sex Education,” said Wells Fargo Securities analyst Steven Cahall.
\n
Cahall is among analysts that expect Netflix’s rally will continue, projecting that the stock will reach $800 by the end of 2022. Popular content, subscriber growth and margin expansion -- the longstanding yardsticks for the company -- will remain the catalysts for shares, he said.
\n
“All the revenue is based on content,” Cahall said in an interview. “The content is the majority of their costs. And so their ability to spend on content and generate new content is really what drives these business models.”
\n
Fierce Competition
\n
For Mark Stoeckle, chief executive officer and senior portfolio manager at Adams Funds, Netflix’s valuation and streaming competition are two factors that are keeping him from turning more bullish on the stock. The Adams Diversified Equity Fund is modestly overweight Netflix versus the S&P 500 Index after buying shares in September.
\n
Netflix trades around 46 times forward earnings. Although that’s down from a recent peak of nearly 54 times in October, it still tops the Nasdaq 100 at 28 times and the S&P 500 Communication Services Index at 19.6 times.
\n
Disney, whose flagship streaming service is widely seen as Netflix’s biggest competitor, has tumbled amid concerns that subscriber growth at Disney+ is slowing and as the variant threatens a return to theme parks. The stock is heading for its first annual decline since 2016 and its worst year since 2008.
\n
Both Netflix and Disney face competition in 2022 from the direct-to-consumer service that will emerge from the merger of Discovery Inc. and AT&T Inc.’s WarnerMedia, according to Macquarie analyst Tim Nollen. Last month, he upgraded Discovery to outperform from neutral in anticipation of the deal which he said will create “one of the most broad-based content offerings.” He’s neutral on Netflix on valuation and rates Disney outperform based in part on an eventual rebound at its parks and the box office.
\n
But ultimately, it’s nearly all about content, analysts say. The slate for 2022 includes new seasons for some of its biggest hits, including “Stranger Things” and “Bridgerton.”
\n
“I hate to say that these big media companies are just still in the hit business, but they are,” Cahall said.
\n
Buying Opportunities
\n
Selloffs are part of the equation, according to David Klink, senior equity analyst at Huntington National Bank, but he views them as buying opportunities for Netflix shares. Concerns over the omicron coronavirus variant have also pressured equities.\nThese forces have thrown the broad investment outlook for the start of 2022 into flux, but what hasn’t changed is the bullish view on Netflix shares. Wall Street’s optimism hinges on the company’s ability to lure new subscribers with best-in-class content, boosting margins and cash flow along the way.\nThe 12-month average analyst price target comes in at $683, which implies a 13% gain from Tuesday’s closing price of $604.92. That’s less than the 28% increase analysts project for streaming rival Walt Disney Co., but it would extend Netflix’s streak of double-digit annual gains.\n“Despite market turbulence, we’re still interested in having exposure to tech companies,” said Erica Furfaro, senior portfolio analyst at ClearBridge Investments, which holds Netflix shares. “Even in a rising rate environment, being invested behind the best growth winners is still a prudent approach.”\nNetflix this year defied skeptics who fretted that it might stall as the world began to open up from lockdowns. After falling in the first half, the stock climbed to fresh highs on the unexpected success of South Korean show “Squid Game,” which became Netflix’s biggest series launch ever.\nShares had already started to climb in early August, with the stock riding a three-month, 33% rally as Wall Street began to appreciate the slew of shows and movies coming in the third and fourth quarters, including new seasons of “Money Heist” and “Sex Education,” said Wells Fargo Securities analyst Steven Cahall.\nCahall is among analysts that expect Netflix’s rally will continue, projecting that the stock will reach $800 by the end of 2022. Popular content, subscriber growth and margin expansion -- the longstanding yardsticks for the company -- will remain the catalysts for shares, he said.\n“All the revenue is based on content,” Cahall said in an interview. “The content is the majority of their costs. And so their ability to spend on content and generate new content is really what drives these business models.”\nFierce Competition\nFor Mark Stoeckle, chief executive officer and senior portfolio manager at Adams Funds, Netflix’s valuation and streaming competition are two factors that are keeping him from turning more bullish on the stock. The Adams Diversified Equity Fund is modestly overweight Netflix versus the S&P 500 Index after buying shares in September.\nNetflix trades around 46 times forward earnings. Although that’s down from a recent peak of nearly 54 times in October, it still tops the Nasdaq 100 at 28 times and the S&P 500 Communication Services Index at 19.6 times.\nDisney, whose flagship streaming service is widely seen as Netflix’s biggest competitor, has tumbled amid concerns that subscriber growth at Disney+ is slowing and as the variant threatens a return to theme parks. The stock is heading for its first annual decline since 2016 and its worst year since 2008.\nBoth Netflix and Disney face competition in 2022 from the direct-to-consumer service that will emerge from the merger of Discovery Inc. and AT&T Inc.’s WarnerMedia, according to Macquarie analyst Tim Nollen. Last month, he upgraded Discovery to outperform from neutral in anticipation of the deal which he said will create “one of the most broad-based content offerings.” He’s neutral on Netflix on valuation and rates Disney outperform based in part on an eventual rebound at its parks and the box office.\nBut ultimately, it’s nearly all about content, analysts say. The slate for 2022 includes new seasons for some of its biggest hits, including “Stranger Things” and “Bridgerton.”\n“I hate to say that these big media companies are just still in the hit business, but they are,” Cahall said.\nBuying Opportunities\nSelloffs are part of the equation, according to David Klink, senior equity analyst at Huntington National Bank, but he views them as buying opportunities for Netflix shares. Huntington Private Bank’s internal growth strategy added to its position in late November, he said.\nKlink had been worried that Netflix and other companies that were popular plays during Covid-19 lockdowns would struggle in 2021 as they faced tough year-over-year comparisons. Netflix proved those fears were overblown. It’s on track to notch a 12% advance for 2021 in what would be the stock’s seventh straight year of gains -- even with the most recent slump.\n“There’s rarely a year where there’s not a 10 or 15% drawdown, but you’re generally better off holding it,” Klink said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":954,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":691218152,"gmtCreate":1640195068182,"gmtModify":1640195417176,"author":{"id":"3557115305021464","authorId":"3557115305021464","name":"mcccccc6","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/afa6344d47cc0c544ff888306c0941b3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3557115305021464","authorIdStr":"3557115305021464"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"特效时时彩虹","listText":"特效时时彩虹","text":"特效时时彩虹","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/691218152","repostId":"699671847","repostType":1,"repost":{"id":699671847,"gmtCreate":1639798161451,"gmtModify":1639812488930,"author":{"id":"3566982670449095","authorId":"3566982670449095","name":"wywy","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/76ed86374fc7b16c12094c45ea30787c","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3566982670449095","authorIdStr":"3566982670449095"},"themes":[],"title":"PLTR is there still steam in it? Aon:Earlier this year, Berkshire Hathaway took an initial position in insurance broker Aon plc(NYSE:AON). Shares of the company are up 15% year-to-date, could see more upside and could also be a position Buffett adds to.
\n
Aonreportedfirst-quarter revenue up 10% year-over-year, including organic revenue growth of 6%. The company’s margins improved and earnings per share grew 22% year-over-year. Aon announced a supply chain global protection plan for COVID-19 vaccines that could be a highlight in the next earnings report.
\n
2. Apple:There have been several rallies for technology stocks in the first half of 2021. Despite the rallies, shares of technology giant Apple Inc(NASDAQ:AAPL) traded flat in the first half of 2021.
\n
Apple makes up the largest stock holding in the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio. The iPhone maker continues to be an innovator and should not be overlooked for more product launches and announcements in the second half of the year that could move shares of the stock higher.
\n
3. Bank of America: Bank of America Corporation(NYSE:BAC) is a large holding of Buffett's and one of several bank stocks that he has kept. Buffett has significantly lowered the company’s weighting in Wells Fargo Co(NYSE:WFC), a stock it once owned 10% of and started investing in dating back to 1989.
\n
Bank of America could be Buffett's favored banking stock and it comes as the company reported record consumer investment assets and record client balances in thefirst quarter.
\n
Revenue for the first quarter of $22.8 billion was flat year-over-year but several areas saw strong demand and growth. The company announced it's raising its quarterly dividend from 18 cents to 21 cents in late June and could continue to raise dividends after passing a new bank stress test.
\n
4. Coca-Cola:One of Buffett's favorites is Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO). Shares of the beverage giant are down 1% in the first half of 2021 as many consumer food and beverage companies have seen positive returns. The company could be due to make a bigacquisitionlike that of Monster Beverage Corporation(NASDAQ:MNST) orpushing furtherinto alcoholic beverages.
\n
5. Verizon:Shares of Verizon Communications(NYSE:VZ) are down around 4% in the first half of 2021. The companyreportedtotal revenue of $32.9 billion in the first quarter, up 4% year-over-year. Several of the company’s core business segments saw single-digit growth.
\n
A shift to 5G nationwide could help a company like Verizon, which along with a near 5% dividend yield could make the communications giant a stock to watch in the second half of 2021.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
5 Warren Buffett Favorites To Keep An Eye On
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n5 Warren Buffett Favorites To Keep An Eye On\n
\n\n
\n\n\n<div class=\"head\" \">\n\n\n

\n\n
\n
Benzinga
\n
2021-07-02 20:41
\n
\n\n
\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
Legendary investor Warren Buffett has posted an impressive 21% year-to-date return for his flagship Berkshire Hathaway Inc(NYSE:BRKA) (NYSE:BRKB) in the first half of 2021.
\n
Here's a look at five stocks owned by Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway that could see strong gains in the second half of 2021.
\n
1. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished with a gain of about 9 points after being up more than 100 points earlier in the session, closing at 34,292.29. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite added about 0.2% for its own record of 14,528.33.\nHomebuilder stocks moved higher after S&P Case-Shiller saidhome prices rose more than 14% in Aprilcompared to the prior year. Five U.S. cities, including Seattle, saw their largest annual increase on record. Shares of PulteGroup rose 2%.\nSemiconductor stocks gained strength later in the session, with Skyworks and Advanced Micro Devices climbing 4.5% and 2.8%, respectively. General Electric boosted the industrials sector, rising over 1% afterGoldman Sachs named the stock a top idea.\nThe market has churned out a series of record highs in recent weeks, but the gains have been relatively modest and some strategists have pointed to weak market breadth, measured by the performance of the average stock and the number of individual names making new highs, as a potential area of concern.\nOn Tuesday, there were slightly more declining stocks in the S&P 500 than those that rose during the session.\nHowever, the diminished breadth and volatility could simply be a natural pause during the summer months ahead of the busy earnings season in July, said Bill McMahon, the chief investment officer for active equity strategies at Charles Schwab Investment Management.\n\"I think people are in a little bit of a wait-and-see mode, so it's not surprising to see volatility decline and breadth worsen a tad,\" McMahon said, adding that concern about the spreading Delta variant of Covid-19 could also be weighing on stocks.\nShares of Morgan Stanley jumped more than 3% after the bank said it willdouble its quarterly dividend. The bank also announced a $12 billion stock buyback program. The announcement follows last week's stress tests by the Federal Reserve, which all 23 major banks passed. However, some other bank stocks gave up early gains and weighed on the broader indexes despite increasing their own payout plans.\nThe Conference Board's consumer confidence reading for June came in higher than expected, adding to the bullish readings about the economic recovery.\nWith the market entering the final trading days of June and the second quarter, the S&P 500 is on track to register its fifth straight month of gains. The Nasdaq is pacing for its seventh positive month in the last eight. The Dow, however, is in the red for the month, and on track to snap a four-month winning streak.\nSo far in 2021, the S&P 500 has added 14%, while the Nasdaq has added more than 12% with the Dow close behind.\nJPMorgan quantitative strategist Dubravkos Lakos-Bujas said on CNBC's \"Squawk Box\" that the market appeared to have near-term upside.\n\"The growth policy backdrop in our opinion still remains supportive for risk assets in general, certainly including equities. At the same time, the positioning is not really stretched to where we are in a problematic territory. So we do think there is still a runway. ... The summer period, the next two months, is where I think the market continues to break out,\" the strategist As of 1:45 p.m. EDT, theDow Jones Industrial Average(DJINDICES:^DJI)was down 55 points to 34,544. However, theS&P 500(SNPINDEX:^GSPC)managed to pick up 3 points to 4,231, approaching a potential record close, and theNasdaq Composite(NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC)added 36 points to 13,961.\nSo-called meme stocks likeGameStopandAMC Entertainment Holdingshave been in the spotlight for quite a while, with huge gains in January having put them on the map and a recent revival once again raising awareness of the stocks. And some new names are getting added to the list of stocks that retail investors are paying close attention to. Today,GEO Group(NYSE:GEO)andClean Energy Fuels(NASDAQ:CLNE)saw their shares soar as they came into the spotlight. Below, we'll look more at their businesses and what's behind the moves.\nGEO gets a big bounce\nShares of GEO Group were up more than 55% on Wednesday afternoon. The private prison operator has found itself in a broad decline for years now, but today's bump up came as investors looked at sizable short interest in the company's shares.\nGEO Group's long-term drop stemmed from the growing sentiment against private prison operators. In particular, changing attitudes in Washington led the Justice Department to stop using the services, and many states have considered similar measures for their own prison populations. Moreover, with unique exposure to issues related to the pandemic, GEO Group has raised some risk-management concerns among some investors.\nHowever,GEO Group actually saw its bottom line perk upin its most recent quarter. The company is also considering some major strategic decisions, including potentially giving up its status as a real estate investment trust (REIT) in order to give it more flexibility with respect to capital allocation. REITs are required to distribute nearly all of their profits in order to retain favorable tax status, which limits their ability to reinvest in their own businesses without raising capital.\nWith short interest making up roughly a third of shares outstanding as of mid-May, according to Yahoo! Finance, GEO Group meets the qualifications for a potential short squeeze. That's been the strategy for identifying meme stocks, and it'll be interesting to see if GEO catches on as well as GameStop and others have.\nCleaning up\nElsewhere, shares of Clean Energy Fuels were up 27%. The natural-gas fueling network provider has been stuck in the doldrums for years, but recent gains have investors looking more closely at the company once again.\nInstitutional investors have been skeptical of Clean Energy Fuels' long-term strategy, but not for the reasons you might expect. It reported a net loss of 306 million euros for the three months ending in December.\n“Covid-19 continues to wreak havoc across the industry,” Ryanair said in a statement. It added that Christmas and New Year traffic “was severely impacted” by travel bans imposed on U.K. travelers in late December.\nA number of European governments decided to impose restrictions on flights leaving the U.K. before Christmas after news that a new variant of Covid-19 identified in the county was spreading quickly. This contributed to a 83% drop in traffic in the month of December for Ryanair.\nThe carrier “expects the latest lockdowns and pre-arrival Covid test requirement to materially reduce flight schedules and traffic through to Easter.”\nThe new year saw European governments extending or introducing lockdowns as they faced a steep surge in new infections. More recently,countries in the region have discouraged non-essential travelas they look to bring down their number of daily cases. It is currently unclear when countries will start reopening their economies and go as far as encouraging travel abroad.\nHowever, European governments are in the process of vaccinating their populations in the hope that this will allow them to return to the normal day-to-day more quickly. However, thevaccine roll-out in Europe is facing production, supply and red tape issues.\n“We take some comfort from the success of the U.K. vaccine programme, which is on target to vaccinate almost 50% of the U.K. population (30 million) by the end of March. The EU now needs to step up the slow pace of its rollout programme to match the U.K.’s performance,” Ryanair said on Monday.\nRyanair shares are down about 12% since the start of the year.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":170,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":153568986,"gmtCreate":1625035863845,"gmtModify":1633945581078,"author":{"id":"3557115305021464","authorId":"3557115305021464","name":"mcccccc6","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/afa6344d47cc0c544ff888306c0941b3","crmLevel":6,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3557115305021464","authorIdStr":"3557115305021464"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"yujnb","listText":"yujnb","text":"yujnb","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/153568986","repostId":"1122418477","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1122418477","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625008161,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1122418477?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-30 07:09","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tech stocks propel S&P 500, Nasdaq to fresh highs","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1122418477","media":"CNBC","summary":"The S&P 500 notched another record high on Tuesday amid bullish economic data but retreated toward the flat line later in the session as Wall Street continued its recent period of low volatility.The broad market index ticked up less than 0.1% to 4,291.80, good enough for its fourth-straight record close. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished with a gain of about 9 points after being up more than 100 points earlier in the session, closing at 34,292.29. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite added about 0.2% for its own record of 14,528.33.\nHomebuilder stocks moved higher after S&P Case-Shiller saidhome prices rose more than 14% in Aprilcompared to the prior year. Five U.S. cities, including Seattle, saw their largest annual increase on record. General Electric boosted the industrials sector, rising over 1% afterGoldman Sachs named the stock a top idea.\nThe market has churned out a series of record highs in recent weeks, but the gains have been relatively modest and some strategists have pointed to weak market breadth, measured by the performance of the average stock and the number of individual names making new highs, as a potential area of concern.\nOn Tuesday, there were slightly more declining stocks in the S&P 500 than those that rose during the session.\nHowever, the diminished breadth and volatility could simply be a natural pause during the summer months ahead of the busy earnings season in July, said Bill McMahon, the chief investment officer for active equity strategies at Charles Schwab Investment Management.\n\"I think people are in a little bit of a wait-and-see mode, so it's not surprising to see volatility decline and breadth worsen a tad,\" McMahon said, adding that concern about the spreading Delta variant of Covid-19 could also be weighing on stocks.\nShares of Morgan Stanley jumped more than 3% after the bank said it willdouble its quarterly dividend. The bank also announced a $12 billion stock buyback program. The announcement follows last week's stress tests by the Federal Reserve, which all 23 major banks passed. However, some other bank stocks gave up early gains and weighed on the broader indexes despite increasing their own payout plans.\nThe Conference Board's consumer confidence reading for June came in higher than expected, adding to the bullish readings about the economic recovery.\nWith the market entering the final trading days of June and the second quarter, the S&P 500 is on track to register its fifth straight month of gains. The Nasdaq is pacing for its seventh positive month in the last eight. The Dow, however, is in the red for the month, and on track to snap a four-month winning streak.\nSo far in 2021, the S&P 500 has added 14%, while the Nasdaq has added more than 12% with the Dow close behind.\nJPMorgan quantitative strategist Dubravkos Lakos-Bujas said on CNBC's \"Squawk Box\" that the market appeared to have near-term upside.\n\"The growth policy backdrop in our opinion still remains supportive for risk assets in general, certainly including equities. And for Baidu, it marks a further effort to diversify its business well beyond advertising.\nBaidu’s Nasdaq-traded shares jumped more than 3.5% after hours. They climbed 6.67% on Tuesday.\nBaidu’s chip company would be a subsidiary, with the search giant likely to be the majority shareholder, the person said. Venture capital firms GGV and IDG Capital are involved in early stage discussions to invest in Baidu’s chip firm, the source added. Both firms have extensive investments in China.\nBaidu declined to comment when contacted by CNBC. IDG Capital was not immediately available for comment.Calls to GGV’s offices in Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing went unanswered.\nCurrently, Baidu has an in-house chip unit that has helped to develop its Kunlun semiconductors, designed to process huge amounts of data for artificial intelligence applications. But a standalone chip company is seen helping Baidu to better commercialize its technology, the source said.\nThe semiconductor business would aim to sell chips to customers in several industries including automakers, which are currently facing a global chip shortage.\nA standalone chip maker could also tie into other parts of Baidu’s businesses, such as its driverless car software.\nDiversification flurry\nBaidu’s move is part of push by the company to diversify its broader business — an effort which since September alone has seen the Chinese technology giant raise money for a biotech firm and a standalone electric vehicle company.\nAdvertising accounts for most of Baidu’s revenue currently, but other operations are contributing a growing percentage of sales. Ad-related revenue, which the company refers to in its earnings statements as online marketing services, accounted for around 80% of total revenue in 2018. That proportion fell to 71% in the third quarter of 2020, the most recent published results.\nBaidu’s semiconductor focus comes as the Chinese government tries to boost domestic independence around that critical technology — a trend that has accelerated during China’s trade war with the United States.\nChinese internet giant Tencent, the owner of messaging app WeChat,recently invested in an AI chip start-up.\nIn 2019, e-commerce company Alibaba launched its first chip to power artificial intelligence processes.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":93,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
