Get ready for a very complicated report.
\n
The EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday, July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla (ticker: TSLA) to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. That’s true for Tesla as well.
\n
There will be a lot of moving parts, however, even more than usual for the world’s most valuable car company and its iconoclast CEO Elon Musk.
\n
Factors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings include the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profits—no matter how it happens. That’s what could break shares out of their recent range.
\n

\n
Tesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.
\n
The good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.
\n
After earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. For instance, one way Tesla generates sales is by selling regulatory credits—which it earns by producing more than its fair share of electric vehicles. The company generated $518 million in first-quarter credit sales, which helped Tesla beat earnings estimates. There is always debate about what is the “normal” amount of credit sales and when will those sales dry up. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.
\n
There is also the issue of Bitcoin. Tesla recognized a small gain on its Bitcoin holdings in the first quarter, but the cryptocurrency’s prices have fallen by roughly half since their April peak. That means there is a chance of a small loss. How investors react is anyone’s guess, but don’t expect Tesla to sell out of its Bitcoin position. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.
\n
Investors will also want to know when Tesla’s new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.
\n
Those topics and more should be discussed on the earnings conference call scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.
\n

","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Reports Earnings Today. Figuring out if the stock will go up or down, however, shouldn’t be all that difficult.\nThe EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday,July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. That’s true for Tesla as well.\nThere are plenty of factors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings—the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profits—no matter how it happens. That’s what could break shares out of their recent range.\n\nTesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.\nThe good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.\nAfter earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.\nThere is also the issue of Bitcoin. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.\nInvestors will also want to know when Tesla’s new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.\nAll those topics and more should come up on the earningsconference callscheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of theS&P 500andDow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1256,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":172931852,"gmtCreate":1626925942876,"gmtModify":1633769659011,"author":{"id":"3560047936575753","authorId":"3560047936575753","name":"Catmling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/48765a5d9e7487d0c45059e935216698","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560047936575753","authorIdStr":"3560047936575753"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmm","listText":"Hmm","text":"Hmm","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/172931852","repostId":"2153477496","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1440,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179889119,"gmtCreate":1626502545231,"gmtModify":1633926171831,"author":{"id":"3560047936575753","authorId":"3560047936575753","name":"Catmling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/48765a5d9e7487d0c45059e935216698","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560047936575753","authorIdStr":"3560047936575753"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmm","listText":"Hmm","text":"Hmm","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/179889119","repostId":"1198202103","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1198202103","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626481985,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1198202103?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-17 08:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow drops nearly 300 points on Friday, snaps 3-week winning streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1198202103","media":"CNBC","summary":"U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as ","content":"
\n
U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as inflation fears overshadowed strong retail sales numbers and better-than-expected earnings reports.\n...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The S&P 500 dipped 0.75% to 4,327.16 and the Nasdaq Composite shed 0.8% to 14,427.24.\nThe three averages closed the week lower to each snap 3-week win streaks. The Dow ended the week down 0.52%, while the S&P 500 dipped 0.97% and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.87% during the same period.\n\nA U.S.consumer sentimentindex from the University of Michigan came in at 80.8 for the first half of July, down from 85.5 last month and worse than estimates from economists, who projected an increase. The report released Friday showed inflation expectations rising, with consumers believing prices will increase 4.8% in the next year, the highest level since August 2008.\nThe Dow gave up its gains early Friday shortly after the University of Michigan report came out 30 minutes into the session. Losses increased as the day went on with major averages closing at the lows of the session.\nThe consumer sentiment weakness “is at face value hard to square with the acceleration in employment growth and the continued resilience of the stock market,” said Andrew Hunter, senior U.S. economist at Capital Economics, but the report “suggested that concerns over surging inflation are now outweighing those positive trends.”\nInflation fears\nThe market was held back all week by inflation fears although the S&P 500 and Dow did touch new all-time highs briefly. On Tuesday, theconsumer price indexshowed a 5.4% increase in June from a year ago, the fastest pace in nearly 13 years.\nStocks got off to a good start Friday with the Dow rising more than 100 points to above 35,000 shortly after the open.Data released before the bell showed retail and food service salesrose 0.6% in June, while economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected a 0.4% decline. If that level held, it would have been the Dow’s first close ever above 35,000.\nDespite the week’s losses, the Dow is still up 13% for the year and sits just 1.15% from an all-time high. The S&P 500 is up 15% on the year and is 1.51% below its record level.\n“The market looks broadly fairly valued to me, with most stocks priced to provide a market rate of return plus or minus a few percent,” Bill Miller, chairman and chief investment officer of Miller Value Partners, said in an investor letter.\n“There are pockets of what look like appreciable over-valuation and pockets of significant undervaluation in the US market, in my opinion. We can find plenty of names to fill our portfolios and so remain fully invested,” the value investor added.\nEnergy correction\nEnergy stocks, the hottest part of the market in 2021, fell into correction territory on Friday as oil prices pulled back from their highs.\nThe Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund fell more than 2% on Friday, the worst of any group, dropping 14% from its high. Still, the sector is up about 28% in 2021, making it the top performer of any of the 11 main industry groups.\nWeaker performance from technology stocks also weighed on the market Friday. Shares of Apple closed 1.4% lower afternotching a record closejust two days prior. Netflix shares fell ahead of the streaming giant’s second-quarter earnings report next week.\nInvestors digested strong earnings results from the first major week of second-quarter reports. Though some of the nation’s largest companies posted healthy earnings and revenues amid the economic recovery, the reaction in the stock market has so far been muted.\nThe Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund ended the week 1.5% lower despite big profit growth numbers posted by the likes of JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America.\n“Good earnings might have become an excuse for some investors to take profit. And with earnings expectations so high in general, it takes a really big beat for a company to impress,” JJ Kinahan, TD Ameritrade chief market strategist, said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":855,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":145418022,"gmtCreate":1626236674966,"gmtModify":1633928735659,"author":{"id":"3560047936575753","authorId":"3560047936575753","name":"Catmling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/48765a5d9e7487d0c45059e935216698","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560047936575753","authorIdStr":"3560047936575753"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Comment please","listText":"Comment please","text":"Comment please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/145418022","repostId":"2151560584","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1795,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":148708223,"gmtCreate":1626013264862,"gmtModify":1633930923265,"author":{"id":"3560047936575753","authorId":"3560047936575753","name":"Catmling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/48765a5d9e7487d0c45059e935216698","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3560047936575753","authorIdStr":"3560047936575753"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/148708223","repostId":"1106289851","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1106289851","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625972710,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1106289851?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-11 11:05","market":"us","language":"en","title":"PepsiCo Reports Earnings Next Week. She’s modeling for the company to earn $1.51 a share, 2 cents below the average analyst estimate—although she notes that figure could be conservative—and organic revenue growth of 8.6%.\nAzer expects Frito Lay North America’s organic revenue growth to be 4%, and notes the division is holding up well despite difficult year-over-year comparisons when more consumers were snacking at home during Covid-19 restrictions.\nThe analyst believes Pepsi’s North American beverage business, by contrast, will see its easiest comparison of the year in the second quarter, and points out that recent data shows it may be pulling ahead of Coca-Cola (KO) in terms of sales growth.\nAlso, overall Covid-related costs should be down because of a strong vaccine rollout in the U.S., which accounts for nearly two-thirds of Pepsi’s profits. Still, Azer wrote, the lingering pandemic threat in Latin America could be a headwind in that region.\nOther analysts have been optimistic about Pepsi’s earnings as well. A little over half of the 23 tracked by FactSet rate it at Buy or the equivalent, with 43% on the sidelines and one bearish call. The average analyst price target is $156.02.\nConsensus calls for Pepsi to earn $1.53 a share on revenue of $17.97 billion. That’s up from EPS of $1.21 and revenue of $14.82 billion in the previous quarter, reported in April. Get ready for a very complicated report.\nThe ","content":"
Tesla is set to report second-quarter earnings Monday.

That’s true for Tesla as well.\nThere will be a lot of moving parts, however, even more than usual for the world’s most valuable car company and its iconoclast CEO Elon Musk.\nFactors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings include the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.\nThere is also the issue of Bitcoin. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.\nThose topics and more should be discussed on the earnings conference call scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"TSLA":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1071,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179889119,"gmtCreate":1626502545231,"gmtModify":1633926171831,"author":{"id":"3560047936575753","authorId":"3560047936575753","name":"Catmling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/48765a5d9e7487d0c45059e935216698","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3560047936575753","idStr":"3560047936575753"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hmm","listText":"Hmm","text":"Hmm","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/179889119","repostId":"1198202103","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1198202103","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626481985,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1198202103?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-17 08:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow drops nearly 300 points on Friday, snaps 3-week winning streak","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1198202103","media":"CNBC","summary":"U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as ","content":"
\n
U.S. stocks fell on Friday, pushing the Dow Jones Industrials Average into the red for the week, as inflation fears overshadowed strong retail sales numbers and better-than-expected earnings reports.\n...
And with earnings expectations so high in general, it takes a really big beat for a company to impress,” JJ Kinahan, TD Ameritrade chief market strategist, said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":855,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":148708223,"gmtCreate":1626013264862,"gmtModify":1633930923265,"author":{"id":"3560047936575753","authorId":"3560047936575753","name":"Catmling","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/48765a5d9e7487d0c45059e935216698","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"authorIdStr":"3560047936575753","idStr":"3560047936575753"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wow","listText":"Wow","text":"Wow","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/148708223","repostId":"1106289851","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1106289851","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1625972710,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1106289851?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-11 11:05","market":"us","language":"en","title":"PepsiCo Reports Earnings Next Week.
