sharp decline in the prices of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in recent weeks has raised risks for a “crypto winter” that could drag downCoinbase, according to investment firm Mizuho. The firm slashed its price target on the stock – which has been public for less than two months – to $225 per share from $315, saying that the big drop in cryptocurrencies had put a major downside scenario on the table. Mizuho has a neutral rating on the stock. The price of bitcoin was trading at just over$37,000 on Tuesday morning, well above its recent lows but still roughly 40% below its record high from April after a bout of extreme volatility in the crypto market. The potential for a “winter,” which refers to a period when the price of bitcoin and other digital coins are stuck at low levels following a price crash, could mean a significant hit to Coinbase’s business, Mizuho said in a note to clients.Indeed, one example of a crypto winter would be the decline in digital asset prices that started in late 2017.“The harsh winter of 2018 resulted in volumes drying up, which adversely impacted COIN’s transacting users and retail revenues (~80% of total). Although all outcomes are still feasible for 2021, a crypto winter may mean 15% to 20% potential downside to current consensus sales expectations,” the note said.Mizuho’s warning differs from some other Wall Street firms, who have said that the drop in prices for cryptocurrency is not a huge deal or even a positive, given its potential to drive higher trading activity.Wedbush said that prices directly impacted only about2% of the company’s revenue. Goldman Sachs said investors should instead focus on volatility which would be the “bigger driver in the near term.”In a way, that view makes Coinbase look more like an investment bank, in which increased trading during a downturn can shore up the financial results even if other areas of the business take a short-term hit. However, Mizuho’s note argued that the price drop risks driving users and interest away from Coinbase and depressing the overall business for the foreseeable future. The firm did a regression analysis that found that the price of bitcoin was the most important factor in projecting users and volumes on Coinbase. The dramatic fall in the price of bitcoin in late 2017 and early 2018 led to a sustained lower level of activity for the exchange platform, Mizuho said.“For COIN, the winter was unpleasant. Monthly transacting users dropped from 2.7mn in 1Q18 to 0.8mn in 1Q19, which weighed on retail transaction revenue,” the note said.To be sure, the crypto market has grown dramatically over the past year and attracted more institutional users, which could make prior trading data less reliable for future projection.Coinbase went public through a direct listing in April, opening trading at $381 per share. After initially popping above $400, the stock has steadily declined and closed just above $225 on Monday.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":851,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":194167692,"gmtCreate":1621348500116,"gmtModify":1631890521716,"author":{"id":"3576131464951517","authorId":"3576131464951517","name":"Melonade","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3ff2ed3f60e2318ac53668d2688ba7eb","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576131464951517","authorIdStr":"3576131464951517"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Vroooom","listText":"Vroooom","text":"Vroooom","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/194167692","repostId":"1166259500","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1120,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198701688,"gmtCreate":1620987071744,"gmtModify":1631890521730,"author":{"id":"3576131464951517","authorId":"3576131464951517","name":"Melonade","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3ff2ed3f60e2318ac53668d2688ba7eb","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576131464951517","authorIdStr":"3576131464951517"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Alibyebye","listText":"Alibyebye","text":"Alibyebye","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/198701688","repostId":"1112285344","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1074,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":199726399,"gmtCreate":1620735722311,"gmtModify":1631890521745,"author":{"id":"3576131464951517","authorId":"3576131464951517","name":"Melonade","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3ff2ed3f60e2318ac53668d2688ba7eb","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576131464951517","authorIdStr":"3576131464951517"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"No time like the present","listText":"No time like the present","text":"No time like the present","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/199726399","repostId":"1187419974","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1187419974","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620724315,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1187419974?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-11 17:11","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Each Dip in Nvidia Stock Is a Gift for Long-Term Investors","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1187419974","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Nvidia recently hit new highs, but don't sleep on NVDA stock -- this is the real deal for long-term ","content":"
\n Nvidia recently hit new highs, but don't sleep on NVDA stock -- this is the real deal for long-term investors.\n
\n
A few weeks ago,Nvidia(NASDAQ:NVDA) wasfinallybreaking out to new highs. A survey commissioned by Charles Schwab and released on Thursday found that the demographics and attitude of new investors mark a sea change.
\n
For one thing, they are much more bullish on the market than people who have been investing for years. Some of this is simply generational—younger people tend to have a higher risk tolerance. But the survey wasn’t limited by age. It included baby boomers and people in other cohorts who have just begun investing.
\n
The survey of 1,000 new investors and 200 who started earlier was conducted by Logica Research and included clients of multiple brokerages.Schwab(SCHW) calls them Gen I, for Generation Investor. And they are already a force, making up about 15% of current investors, the survey estimates.
\n
In 2020, more than 10 million new accounts were opened at U.S. brokerages—a record—and the momentum has continued in 2021. People who dove in near the bottom of the Covid-19 crisis in March made a smart move. The S&P 500 is up more than 80% since it hit bottom in March 2020.
\n
Retail traders have indeed become a much more substantial part of the market in the past year. They have shown that they can cause individual stocks—and sometimes indexes—to move based on their action. Other data shows the new group of investors have been more likely to pick individual stocks, going against recent trends in investing toward exchange-traded funds.
\n
The survey found that 72% of Gen I is bullish on the U.S. stock market, versus 63% of those who started before. And 43% plan to invest more money this year, versus 20% of the prior cohort.
\n
Gen I tends to have less money coming in, with 51% living paycheck to paycheck. They have an average income of $76,000, about $20,000 below established investors. And they were more likely to have suffered financially during the pandemic, with 39% experiencing damage versus 28% of established investors.
\n
Those statistics seem to bolster the narrative from Schwab’s rival Robinhood, which says that its commission-free services have allowed a new group of investors to enjoy market gains. Other brokers, including Schwab, also lowered commissions to zero in late 2019.
\n
The concern about this new cohort is that they are too inexperienced to know how to hedge their risks. A survey commissioned by Charles Schwab and released on Thursday found that the demographics and attitude of new investors mark a sea change.\nFor one thing, they are much more bullish on the market than people who have been investing for years. Some of this is simply generational—younger people tend to have a higher risk tolerance. But the survey wasn’t limited by age. It included baby boomers and people in other cohorts who have just begun investing.\nThe survey of 1,000 new investors and 200 who started earlier was conducted by Logica Research and included clients of multiple brokerages.Schwab(SCHW) calls them Gen I, for Generation Investor. And they are already a force, making up about 15% of current investors, the survey estimates.\nIn 2020, more than 10 million new accounts were opened at U.S. brokerages—a record—and the momentum has continued in 2021. People who dove in near the bottom of the Covid-19 crisis in March made a smart move. The S&P 500 is up more than 80% since it hit bottom in March 2020.\nRetail traders have indeed become a much more substantial part of the market in the past year. They have shown that they can cause individual stocks—and sometimes indexes—to move based on their action. Other data shows the new group of investors have been more likely to pick individual stocks, going against recent trends in investing toward exchange-traded funds.\nThe survey found that 72% of Gen I is bullish on the U.S. stock market, versus 63% of those who started before. And 43% plan to invest more money this year, versus 20% of the prior cohort.\nGen I tends to have less money coming in, with 51% living paycheck to paycheck. They have an average income of $76,000, about $20,000 below established investors. And they were more likely to have suffered financially during the pandemic, with 39% experiencing damage versus 28% of established investors.\nThose statistics seem to bolster the narrative from Schwab’s rival Robinhood, which says that its commission-free services have allowed a new group of investors to enjoy market gains. Other brokers, including Schwab, also lowered commissions to zero in late 2019.\nThe concern about this new cohort is that they are too inexperienced to know how to hedge their risks. Those risks were one subject of congressional hearingsabout the GameStop frenzy that have been held over the past few weeks.\nBut the survey indicates that more new investors are starting to consider long-term plans. To help investors understand and avoid risks, Goldman Sachs has published a Global Strategy Paper which examines their characteristics and dangers, drawing the conclusion that current markets only present a few of the recurring features associated with bubbles. For example, there is no doubt that exceptionally-low interest rates can induce excessive risk-taking, but private sector finances are robust, thus reducing the chances of systemic risk in the absence of significant financial leverage, with the exception of government debts.
\n
Neither Bubbles Nor Bear Market In Sight: According to Goldman Sachs, the initial phase of a recovery business cycle also suggests that the risk of impending bubbles, with their associated systemic risk, is relatively low. The investment company brings the example of Amazon.com Inc. and Apple Inc. stocks which, unlike in 2000, are not to be considered in bubble territory, since their respective fundamentals justify such high prices. The final verdict of the long and detailed analysis proposed by Goldman Sachs' \"guide to bubbles\" is that there are signs of complacency and high optimism in the market, but the key factors driving it and the cycle of economic recovery being just at the beginning seem to suggest that we are far from the explosion of a bubble. According to Goldman, the ultimate ingredients are few and never change: prices unanchored from reality, a justifying attitude, market concentration, widespread speculation, excess of leverage, the narration of being on the threshold of a new era and an end-of-cycle economic boom, all seasoned with scandals and behavior irregularities.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"AAPL":0.9,"AMZN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":302,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":198701688,"gmtCreate":1620987071744,"gmtModify":1631890521730,"author":{"id":"3576131464951517","authorId":"3576131464951517","name":"Melonade","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3ff2ed3f60e2318ac53668d2688ba7eb","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576131464951517","authorIdStr":"3576131464951517"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Alibyebye","listText":"Alibyebye","text":"Alibyebye","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/198701688","repostId":"1112285344","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1074,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":104704702,"gmtCreate":1620414727906,"gmtModify":1631890521756,"author":{"id":"3576131464951517","authorId":"3576131464951517","name":"Melonade","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3ff2ed3f60e2318ac53668d2688ba7eb","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576131464951517","authorIdStr":"3576131464951517"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Waterfall","listText":"Waterfall","text":"Waterfall","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/104704702","repostId":"1110969931","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1110969931","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1620399245,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1110969931?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-07 22:54","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Waterdrop shares fell 10% debut","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1110969931","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Waterdrop shares fell 10% debut.Online insurance technology firm Waterdrop Inc will focus more on us","content":"
Waterdrop shares fell 10% debut.

Online insurance technology firm Waterdrop Inc will focus more on user growth than on profit in the short term and aims to become China's version of UnitedHealth Group in a decade, its chief executive told Reuters on Friday.

Waterdrop, which is backed by Chinese gaming giant Tencent, has no plan to revive its once popular mutual aid service, founder and CEO Shen Peng said in an interview.

The loss-making company will focus until 2025 on growing its online insurance business in China, and would like to expand further into healthcare businesses in 10 years' time in the country, Shen said. After initially popping above $400, the stock has steadily declined and closed just above $225 on Monday.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":851,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":100467574,"gmtCreate":1619634684198,"gmtModify":1634211179713,"author":{"id":"3576131464951517","authorId":"3576131464951517","name":"Melonade","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/3ff2ed3f60e2318ac53668d2688ba7eb","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3576131464951517","authorIdStr":"3576131464951517"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"The
