The first versions delivered over the weekend cost around $169,000.
\n
Rivian, another up-and-comer backed by Ford Motor Co. and Amazon.com Inc.,has started delivering its first model, the electric R1T pickup truck, to buyers and recently revealed plans for a second U.S. assembly plant to expand production beyond its factory in Normal, Ill.
\n
The rollout of these first models is a milestone for the two upstarts and gives them an advantage in the race among electric-vehicle startups. The next challenge will be increasing factory output to boost sales, said Peter Rawlinson, Lucid’s chief executive. Lucid said it plans to make roughly 575 cars by the end of 2021 and increase that to 20,000 next year.
\n
“What’s next is just getting the volume ramped up and pushing like crazy,” Mr. Rawlinson said.
\n
Both Rivian and Lucid are scaling operations as Tesla’s valuation has continued to soar, crossing the $1 trillion mark last week.
\n
Rivian is targeting the U.S.’s highly competitive pickup truck market with the R1T.
\n
Enthusiasm for electric vehicles, both among car buyers and on Wall Street, has been rising over the past couple of years. Electric-vehicle sales in the U.S. climbed 57% in September over the prior-year period, according to analysts from Morgan Stanley. And the Biden administration is pushing to extend the $7,500 tax credit now available for electric-vehicle purchases, as well as other additional incentives, to further stoke demand for plug-in models.
\n
Lucid’s stock surged last week, jumping more than 50%, following tweets that the company was beginning deliveries and Tesla’s deal to sell its cars to Hertz Global Holdings Inc.The company is valued at nearly $60 billion, about $8.4 billion behind Ford, which had almost $100 billion more in sales through the first nine months of 2021.
\n
Rivian, a company that started in Michigan and later moved its headquarters to California, has raised roughly $10.5 billion in the private markets since the start of 2019 and now is getting ready for an initial public offering.
\n
At its latest capital raise in July, Rivian was valued at $27.6 billion, according to a person familiar with the raise. Amazon on Friday said it owned about 20% of Rivian and valued its stake at $3.8 billion.
\n
Rivian declined to comment for the story ahead of its IPO.
\n
Still, in the capital-intensive auto industry, there is a history of startups that have launched and folded later, and both Lucid and Rivian have had to spend heavily before shipping their first vehicles.
\n
Lucid lost $3.6 billion in the first half of 2021, while Rivian spent $2 billion from the start of last year through the end of June 2021.
\n
One of the biggest challenges these two companies will confront is mastering the intricacies of mass production, analysts say.
\n
Tyson Jominy, vice president of data and analytics at J.D. Power, said launching a model that has never been built before in an all-new factory is difficult for more experienced auto makers. “How much more so will it be for those who are kind of learning on the fly?” he added.
\n
Lucid and Rivian will also be squaring off with deeper-pocketed auto makers, analysts say, and will need to build brand awareness.
\n
“It’s going to be a really tall order to establish positions in this market,” said Aakash Arora, a managing partner on Boston Consulting Group’s automotive team.
\n
In many ways, both Lucid and Rivian are following Tesla’s lead. They plan to sell vehicles directly to consumers, bypassing the traditional dealer network, and Rivian plans to build its own network of fast-charges for drivers to use, helping to address a key concern for car buyers about not having enough places to plug in.
\n
The two companies have also hired several former Tesla executives over the years, including engineers and manufacturing executives, to help build their businesses.
\n
Lucid’s Mr. Rawlinson was once Tesla’s chief engineer overseeing the development of the Model S.
\n
The Lucid Air, a competitor to top-end Mercedes-Benz and BMW models, has created buzz in automotive circles, delivering an EPA-certified travel range of up to 520 miles on a single battery charge—the longest of any electric vehicle on sale in the U.S. market.
\n
“Lucid has a high bar to rise to,” said Vivianna Van Deerlin, president of the Delaware Valley Tesla Owners Club. She has three Teslas and traveled to take delivery of her Lucid Air at an event on Saturday. For her, the Lucid purchase is about backing car companies trying to increase electric-vehicle adoption, Ms. Van Deerlin said.
\n
“It’s about trying something different and supporting the mission,” she added.
\n
Rivian, meanwhile, is targeting the U.S.’s highly competitive pickup truck market with the R1T, a battery-powered model that starts at $67,500. This market has long been dominated by the Detroit car companies, and the R1T’s debut comes ahead of General Motors Co. and Ford rolling out their own battery-electric trucks.
\n
Rivian also plans to start building a midsize sport-utility vehicle, called the R1S, in the next few months that is to be marketed as an outdoor-focused model to compete against Jeep models and the Ford Bronco.
\n
J.D. Power’s Mr. Jominy said the market for SUVs and trucks has been booming in recent years and accounts for around 80% of all vehicles sold in October. However, there are still few all-electric options available to consumers for these specific body styles.
\n
“It is hitting what Americans want,” he said.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; However, there are still few all-electric options available to consumers for these specific body styles.\n“It is hitting what Americans want,” he said.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"LCID":0.9,"RIVN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1783,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":884132671,"gmtCreate":1631866085393,"gmtModify":1632805710313,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$HATTEN LAND LIMITED(PH0.SI)$WOOO","listText":"$HATTEN LAND LIMITED(PH0.SI)$WOOO","text":"$HATTEN LAND LIMITED(PH0.SI)$WOOO","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/499f4d937f51d6db4968102238d83165","width":"1125","height":"2183"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/884132671","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2690,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":831000890,"gmtCreate":1629269467010,"gmtModify":1631889566324,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol","listText":"Lol","text":"Lol","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/831000890","repostId":"1148632255","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1148632255","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1629269095,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1148632255?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-18 14:44","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Singapore watchdog probes game giant Ubisoft over harassment claims","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1148632255","media":"AFP","summary":"Video game giant Ubisoft's Singapore office is under investigation over claims of sexual harassment ","content":"
Video game giant Ubisoft's Singapore office is under investigation over claims of sexual harassment and racial discrimination, a watchdog said, in the latest controversy for the French firm.
\n
The publisher of the blockbusterAssassin's CreedandFar Crytitles saw some senior staff resign last year after allegations of sexual misconduct emerged.
\n
Gaming website Kotaku last month published allegations of harassment, bullying and racial pay disparities following interviews with 20 current and former employees at Ubisoft Singapore.
\n
The Singapore employment watchdog TAFEP said Tuesday it began investigating after receiving \"anonymous feedback containing links to media articles about allegations of workplace harassment and unfair treatment at Ubisoft Singapore\".
\n
It also urged anyone with knowledge of criminal conduct such as sexual harassment and assault to report the incidents to the police.
\n
The current and former employees cited in the Kotaku report spoke on the condition of anonymity.
\n
Two women alleged inappropriate touching and comments, while another worker said: \"The salary gap between locals and expats was just insane.\" Ubisoft Singapore said in a statement to AFP it was aware of the allegations made to the watchdog.
\n
\"As our discussions with them are ongoing, we do not have anything we can share at this stage,\" the statement added.
\n
\"Every Ubisoft studio, including Ubisoft Singapore, strives to create and foster a culture that team members and partners can be proud of. Here's why it's a great investment today.
\n
1. SoFi's business-to-consumer offering
\n
SoFi (short for Social Finance) is attempting to be the first complete one-stop shop for all things digital banking through its app. On the SoFi platform, consumers can \"borrow, save, spend, invest, and protect\" all in one place. With half of consumers using more than one bank and 80% of those consumers doing so because of inadequate service, it's clear to see how this could be a lucrative endeavor if done correctly.
\n
This convenience can be valuable: Cross-selling greatly enhances unit economics for SoFi. For example, SoFi's money product yields a 34% profit margin, which skyrockets to 80% when combined with a personal loan product. The company spends zero incremental dollars on selling a second or third product to a user, yet enjoys an enhanced consumer lifetime value (LTV).
\n
Thanks partially to the pandemic, demand for these services is quickly on the rise -- digital banking penetration rose from 54% to 62%, with the vast majority of those consumers unwilling to go back. There is clearly a long pathway of growth for this company to pursue, and so far, it's delivering. In the company's first public quarterly report, it posted 110% membership growth to reach 2.28 million. What's even more encouraging about this is that the rate of growth has actually accelerated for seven consecutive quarters. This points to real durability to expansion.
\n
SoFi's financial products specifically saw product growth soar by 273% year over year to eclipse the company's more mature lending segment in size. Total consumer-facing product sales more than doubled as well.
\n
To deepen the appeal, SoFi recently debuted social investing products as well as a service allowing retail investors to access companies pre-IPO. There are undoubtedly more product innovations in the works for SoFi's consumers.
\n
2. Galileo, SoFi's business-to-business offering
\n
SoFi is not just finding business-to-consumer success, but business-to-business as well. SoFi's Galileo offers fintech companies application programming interfaces (APIs) for core digital banking functionality. Galileo was originally just a partner for SoFi's consumer-facing products, but the technology was so effective that SoFi decided to buy it outright. That says a lot. Galileo enables companies to build out payment, card, and digital banking products, and this segment is also finding meaningful success.
\n
Last quarter, total Galileo members skyrocketed 130% year over year to reach 70 million. This growth rate compares to 75% in the year-ago period, showing there is real, positive momentum here as well.
\n
Impressively, Galileo serves fintech titans such as Chime and Robinhood. While it's nice to see fabulous consumer-based success, this business-facing segment ensures SoFi succeeds when fintech as a whole succeeds, not just when its own app does. With fintech somewhat crowded but also poised for continued growth, that's a strong position to be in.
\n
Importantly, management plans to operate Galileo entirely independently from SoFi, to ensure Galileo can be seen as a pure partner to these companies rather than a partial adversary. Recently, SoFi hired Derek White -- a former Google cloud executive -- to run Galileo with this in mind.
\n
To get an idea of the appetite for Galileo's services, in a recent interview SoFi CEO Anthony Noto gave Piper Sandler, he said Galileo's biggest challenge was saying no to opportunity. Clearly, there is a lot of demand here for the combined entity to enjoy.
\n
3. SoFi is thriving
\n
When combining SoFi's two primary business segments, revenue and profitability continue to be remarkable. Last quarter, sales rose 151% year over year to $216 million and beat the guidance SoFi offered in its investor presentation by a hefty 12.2%. The organization reiterated its 2021 guidance despite not having $12 million in previously anticipated revenues to recognize from its purchase of Apex clearing.
\n
Impressively, itsEBITDAmargin turned positive, improving from -48% to 2% year over year. This 2% figure also exceeded the high end of the company's previous guidance; SoFi is thriving, and doing so profitably.
\n
The company trades for 18.3 times 2021 sales and 67 times 2021 contribution profit based on its most recent guidance -- not crazy, based on the success shareholders have enjoyed.
\n
SoFi is a winner
\n
There are plenty of examples of low-quality companies that went public via SPAC, butSoFiis not one of them. SoFi is thriving\nWhen combining SoFi's two primary business segments, revenue and profitability continue to be remarkable. Last quarter, sales rose 151% year over year to $216 million and beat the guidance SoFi offered in its investor presentation by a hefty 12.2%. The organization reiterated its 2021 guidance despite not having $12 million in previously anticipated revenues to recognize from its purchase of Apex clearing.\nImpressively, itsEBITDAmargin turned positive, improving from -48% to 2% year over year. This 2% figure also exceeded the high end of the company's previous guidance; SoFi is thriving, and doing so profitably.\nThe company trades for 18.3 times 2021 sales and 67 times 2021 contribution profit based on its most recent guidance -- not crazy, based on the success shareholders have enjoyed.\nSoFi is a winner\nThere are plenty of examples of low-quality companies that went public via SPAC, butSoFiis not one of them. The company is clicking on all cylinders with no slowdown in sight. I own SoFi and think investors of all kinds should consider taking a position as well.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"SOFI":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1176,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":127299563,"gmtCreate":1624849379052,"gmtModify":1631889566384,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment please! Data from the Labor Department shows that in May, consumer pricesrose at their fastest pace since 2008.\nAbrams-Rivera said Kraft Heinz has a \"three-pronged approach\" to manage inflationary pressures. The first, he said, is a goal of delivering about $400 million in efficiencies across the company by year-end, which are \"helping us manage through this.\"\nAnother focus is on renovating the company's brands — which include Oscar Mayer, Velveeta and Maxwell House — to continue appealing to consumers and retain a strong pricing power, Abrams-Rivera said. He said Kraft Heinz will have renovated 45% of its U.S. portfolio by the end of 2021 and 90% next year.\nKraft Heinz had aimed to eliminate 1,100 products — or 20% of its business — by the end of 2020, in an effort to attract more customers. Trimming down the portfolio was intended to make the company's supply chain more efficient and cut down on sales cannibalization, Abrams-Rivera previously told CNBC.\nThe third pillar to Kraft Heinz's approach to inflation includes looking at how products are packaged, he said.\nFor example, \"we're looking at larger sizes in some of our packs to bring a better value for consumers,\" he said, as well as trying to provide lower-cost options.\n\"So, things like ... Lunchables — we actually launched a new $1 pack also,\" he said. \"Having options for consumers at different levels that allows us to have a good value is also part of how we're managing through this whole inflation situation we're seeing.\"\nMore broadly, Abrams-Rivera said, the behavior shifts that occurred during the pandemic — people spending more time at home and eating together more — are likely to stick around and Kraft Heinz hopes to capitalize on it.\nConsumers have also made huge investments in their home through renovations and started to cook more, he said. \"That is a place where we can bring a different scale and a different benefit that allows us to continue growing in a way that nobody else can.\"","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"KHC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":816,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":165530828,"gmtCreate":1624150559664,"gmtModify":1631889566405,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment! However, it’s dropped by more than 50% since reaching ahigh in May.\nCoinbase is one of the largest crypto exchanges on the planet, and its Pro service, as the name suggests, is designed for professional traders. Dogecoin is also available for purchase on Robinhood’s app and through Gemini.\nCoinbase said in ablog postthat it will “immediately” begin accepting inbound transfers to Coinbase Pro. If there is enough liquidity, trading of dogecoin will begin on or after 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, in supported locations. However, trading will be staggered.\nThe company says it plans to launch in three phases: post-only, limit-only and full trading.\n“If at any point one of the new order books does not meet our assessment for a healthy and orderly market, we may keep the book in one state for a longer period of time or suspend trading,” the company wrote, citing itstrading rules.\nDogecoin is not yet available on Coinbase’s primary website or its consumer mobile apps. The company said there will be a “separate announcement if and when this support is added.” For now, that means that retail investors will have to look elsewhere.\nCoinbase, whichwent public in April, makes most of its money from the trading and storage ofbitcoinand ethereum, the largest cryptocurrencies.\nCEO Brian Armstrong has been a public advocate of the meme-inspired dogecoin. On the company’s May 13 earnings call, Armstrong said that “asset addition is something near and dear” to his heart.\nHe referenced dogecoin as one of the cryptocurrencies that’s getting a lot of attention and shared the company’s plan to list the token in six to eight weeks.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"COIN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":506,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":135332273,"gmtCreate":1622130170592,"gmtModify":1634183561790,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment pls","listText":"Like and comment pls","text":"Like and comment pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/135332273","repostId":"1145940037","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1145940037","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1622128786,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1145940037?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-27 23:19","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AMC shares once rose 20%,making the growth rate expanded to 1000% so far in 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1145940037","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Today AMC shares once rose 20%,making the growth rate expanded to 1000% so far in 2021.Meme stocks s","content":"
Today AMC shares once rose 20%,making the growth rate expanded to 1000% so far in 2021.

Meme stocks such as GameStop and AMC Entertainmentthat were the focus of retail investors on Reddit’s r/WallStreetBets forum earlier this year are riding another wave higher as the Reddit traders attempt to squeeze the stocks higher.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; AMD's shares were up 4.5% as of 11:30 a.m. EDT.

So what

Intel, if you haven't heard, actually beat on its Q1 earnings. Despite sales declining 1% year over year, the company managed to report a pro forma profit of $1.39 per share, which was ahead of analyst expectations.

Regardless, Intel reported a steep 540 basis point decline in its gross margin to 55.2%, and it saw its operating margin cut nearly in half as the company spent heavily to race to catch up to its rivals in advanced computer chips. \"That is a place where we can bring a different scale and a different benefit that allows us to continue growing in a way that nobody else can.\"","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"KHC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":816,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":153203943,"gmtCreate":1625025126882,"gmtModify":1631889566381,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment please","listText":"Like and comment please","text":"Like and comment please","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/153203943","repostId":"1118790185","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1118790185","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1625023368,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1118790185?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-30 11:22","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Sofi has received the most attention for two consecutive days on the WSB forum","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1118790185","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Online personal finance company SoFi Technologies has received most attention for two consecutive da","content":"
Online personal finance company SoFi Technologies has received most attention for two consecutive days on the WallStreetBets forum.
\n
SoFi Technologies has emerged as the most-discussed stock on the forum with 619 mentions on Monday, data from Quiver Quantitative showed.
\n
SoFi Technologies continued to be the most-discussed stock on the forum with 1,088 mentions on Tuesday, data from Quiver Quantitative showed.
\n
SoFi Technologies-a consumer- and business-facing financial technology (fintech) disruptor -- is one of those rare examples.
After the benchmarkS&P 500(SNPINDEX:^GSPC)lost a third of its value in mere weeks due to unprecedented uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, it bounced back to gain in the neighborhood of 75% off its lows. You could rightly say that patience has paid off.
\n
But there's another reality that investors -- especially long-term investors -- are keenly aware of: the propensity of the stock market to crash or correct. Things might look great now, but the next big nosedive is always waiting in the wings.
\n
It begs the question: How likely is astock market crash? Let's take a closer look.
\n
Double-digit declines occur every 1.87 years, on average
\n
To begin with the basics, stock market corrections (i.e., declines of at least 10%) are quite common in the S&P 500. According to data from market analytics firm Yardeni Research, there have been 38 corrections in the S&P 500 since the beginning of 1950. This works out to an average double-digit decline in the benchmark indexevery 1.87 years. Since it's now been more than a year since the market hit its bear-market bottom, the averages are certainly not in investors' favor.
\n
However, averages are nothing more than that... averages. The market doesn't adhere to averages, even if some folks base their investments off of what's happened historically.
\n
We could enter a period similar to 1991 through 1996 where there were zero corrections. Or we could continue the theme since the beginning of 2010, where corrections occur, on average, every 19 months.
\n
Corrections have been an historical given within three years of a bear market bottom
\n
Another interesting piece of evidence to examine is the frequency by which the S&P 500 corrects after hitting a bear-market bottom.
\n
Since the beginning of 1960 (an arbitrary year I chose for the sake of simplicity), the widely followed index has navigated its way through nine bear markets, including the coronavirus crash. In rebounding from each of the previous eight bear market lows, there was at least one double-digit percentage decline within three years100% of the time. In aggregate, 13 corrections have occurred within three years following the last eight bear market bottoms (i.e., either one or two following each bottom).
\n
Put another way, rebounding from a bear-market bottom is rarely a straight-line move higher. Yet up, up, and away has pretty much been the theme for investors since March 23, 2020. History would suggest that there's a very good chance of a move lower in equities within the next two years.
\n
Crashes frequently occur when this valuation metric is hit
\n
But the most damning bit of evidence might just be the S&P 500's Shiller price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio. This is a valuation metric that examines the average inflation-adjusted earnings from the previous 10 years. You might also know it as the cyclically adjusted P/E ratio, or CAPE.
\n
As of the close of business on March 30, the S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio hit 35.61. That's well over double its 150-year average of 16.8. Using continuous bull market moves as a parameter, it's the second-highest reading in its history.
\n
To some extent, itmakes sensethat equity valuations should be higher now than they've been historically. That's because interest rates are near an all-time low and access to the internet has effectively broken down barriers between Wall Street and Main Street that may have, in the past, kept P/E multiples at bay.
\n
However, previous instances of the S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio crossing above and sustaining the 30 levelhaven't ended well. In the prior four instances where the Shiller P/E surpassed and held above 30, the benchmark index tumbled anywhere from 20% to as much as 89%. Although an 89% plunge, which was experienced during the Great Depression, is very unlikely these days, a big drop has historically been in the cards when valuations get extended, as they are now.
\n
Keep that cash handy in the event that opportunity knocks
\n
To circle back to the original question at hand, the data is pretty clear that the likelihood of a stock market crash or correction has grown considerably. It's impossible to precisely predict when a crash might occur, how long the decline will last, or how steep the drop could be. But the data strongly suggests that downside is in the offing.
\n
While this might be a disappointing revelation to some investors, it shouldn't be. Crashes and corrections are a normal part of the investing cycle. More importantly, theyprovide an opportunityfor investors to buy into great companies at a discount. Just think about all the great companies you're probably kicking yourself over for not buying last March.
\n
The reason to be excited about crashes and corrections is also found in the data. You see, of those 38 previous corrections in the S&P 500 since the beginning of 1950, each and every one has eventually been put into the rearview mirror by a bull market rally. After the benchmarkS&P 500(SNPINDEX:^GSPC)lost a third of its value in mere weeks due to unprecedented uncertainties surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, it bounced back to gain in the neighborhood of 75% off its lows. You could rightly say that patience has paid off.\nBut there's another reality that investors -- especially long-term investors -- are keenly aware of: the propensity of the stock market to crash or correct. Things might look great now, but the next big nosedive is always waiting in the wings.\nIt begs the question: How likely is astock market crash? Let's take a closer look.\nDouble-digit declines occur every 1.87 years, on average\nTo begin with the basics, stock market corrections (i.e., declines of at least 10%) are quite common in the S&P 500. According to data from market analytics firm Yardeni Research, there have been 38 corrections in the S&P 500 since the beginning of 1950. This works out to an average double-digit decline in the benchmark indexevery 1.87 years. Since it's now been more than a year since the market hit its bear-market bottom, the averages are certainly not in investors' favor.\nHowever, averages are nothing more than that... averages. The market doesn't adhere to averages, even if some folks base their investments off of what's happened historically.\nWe could enter a period similar to 1991 through 1996 where there were zero corrections. Or we could continue the theme since the beginning of 2010, where corrections occur, on average, every 19 months.\nCorrections have been an historical given within three years of a bear market bottom\nAnother interesting piece of evidence to examine is the frequency by which the S&P 500 corrects after hitting a bear-market bottom.\nSince the beginning of 1960 (an arbitrary year I chose for the sake of simplicity), the widely followed index has navigated its way through nine bear markets, including the coronavirus crash. In rebounding from each of the previous eight bear market lows, there was at least one double-digit percentage decline within three years100% of the time. In aggregate, 13 corrections have occurred within three years following the last eight bear market bottoms (i.e., either one or two following each bottom).\nPut another way, rebounding from a bear-market bottom is rarely a straight-line move higher. Yet up, up, and away has pretty much been the theme for investors since March 23, 2020. History would suggest that there's a very good chance of a move lower in equities within the next two years.\nCrashes frequently occur when this valuation metric is hit\nBut the most damning bit of evidence might just be the S&P 500's Shiller price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio. This is a valuation metric that examines the average inflation-adjusted earnings from the previous 10 years. You might also know it as the cyclically adjusted P/E ratio, or CAPE.\nAs of the close of business on March 30, the S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio hit 35.61. That's well over double its 150-year average of 16.8. Using continuous bull market moves as a parameter, it's the second-highest reading in its history.\nTo some extent, itmakes sensethat equity valuations should be higher now than they've been historically. That's because interest rates are near an all-time low and access to the internet has effectively broken down barriers between Wall Street and Main Street that may have, in the past, kept P/E multiples at bay.\nHowever, previous instances of the S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio crossing above and sustaining the 30 levelhaven't ended well. In the prior four instances where the Shiller P/E surpassed and held above 30, the benchmark index tumbled anywhere from 20% to as much as 89%. Although an 89% plunge, which was experienced during the Great Depression, is very unlikely these days, a big drop has historically been in the cards when valuations get extended, as they are now.\nKeep that cash handy in the event that opportunity knocks\nTo circle back to the original question at hand, the data is pretty clear that the likelihood of a stock market crash or correction has grown considerably. It's impossible to precisely predict when a crash might occur, how long the decline will last, or how steep the drop could be. But the data strongly suggests that downside is in the offing.\nWhile this might be a disappointing revelation to some investors, it shouldn't be. Crashes and corrections are a normal part of the investing cycle. More importantly, theyprovide an opportunityfor investors to buy into great companies at a discount. Just think about all the great companies you're probably kicking yourself over for not buying last March.\nThe reason to be excited about crashes and corrections is also found in the data. You see, of those 38 previous corrections in the S&P 500 since the beginning of 1950, each and every one has eventually been put into the rearview mirror by a bull market rally. Plus,at no point over the past centuryhave rolling 20-year total returns (including dividends) for the S&P 500 been negative.\nIf you need further encouragement to buy during a correction, keep in mind that 24 of the 38 double-digit declines in the S&P 500 havefound their bottom in 104 or fewer calendar days(3.5 months or less). Crashes and corrections may be steep at times but tend to resolve quickly. That's your cue to have cash at the ready in the event that opportunity knocks.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":330,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":135336700,"gmtCreate":1622130140600,"gmtModify":1634183562136,"author":{"id":"3578876240958048","authorId":"3578876240958048","name":"Atta9","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/cb226d826ed8286991a6b58e986133dd","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3578876240958048","authorIdStr":"3578876240958048"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol","listText":"Lol","text":"Lol","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/135336700","repostId":"1145940037","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1145940037","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1622128786,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1145940037?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-27 23:19","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AMC shares once rose 20%,making the growth rate expanded to 1000% so far in 2021","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1145940037","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Today AMC shares once rose 20%,making the growth rate expanded to 1000% so far in 2021.Meme stocks s","content":"

\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; We are definitely excited about the prospects of driving greater leadership in research, technology and products through the U.S., as well as on a worldwide basis.”\nMicron is a major player in the market of dynamic random-access memory, or DRAM, and flash memory.\nWith demand for electronic consumer products rising, a semiconductor shortage has been a boon for the chipmaking industry, but a negative for their end markets, particularly in autos. The White House infrastructure plan would commit money to semiconductor manufacturing and research in the U.S.\nQuantumScape’s Singh welcomed Biden’s pledge to invest in electric vehicles, noting that more focus is needed addressing key hurdles that keep electric vehicles from being competitive with traditional combustion engines. Those hurdles include long-range travel, battery charging times and lower costs, he said.\n“It’s very exciting. ... It’s great that the administration is so supportive of this electrified transition that is critical to regress emissions, but our view is that at the end of the day, you know, government policy is not enough,” Singh told Jim Cramer.\n“You’ve got to have a product that people want to buy, and we think that people are going to want to buy more EVs once they’re more competitive with combustion engines. That’s really the promise of what we’re doing.”\nHyzon Motors is a private hydrogen-fuel cell company that’s based in Honeoye Falls, New York. The company, which is being acquired by a blank-check firm calledDecarbonization Plus Acquisition Corpin a deal worth $3.9 billion, does business in the commercial vehicle market, including heavy-duty trucks and buses.\nKnight — who heads and co-founded the company, said hydrogen-powered trucks don’t get enough recognition — adding that the power source is more suitable for long-range driving.\n“Hydrogen trucks are electric trucks. They are fuel cell electric trucks,” he said. “We see great potential for those kind of back-to-base operations with high utilization to move toward hydrogen.”","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"MU":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":307,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
