afte","content":"
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The S&P 500 ended slightly down on Thursday, paring losses in late trading after unexpectedly strong retail sales data underscored the strength of the U.S. economic recovery.
\n
The three major indexes spent much of the day in negative territory as rising U.S. Treasury yields pressured market-leading tech stocks, and the rising dollar weighed on exporters.
\n
Amazon.com Inc, buoyed by solid online sales in the Commerce Department’s report, helped push the Nasdaq into positive territory.
\n
“Looking at today, clearly we had positive news from retail sales and it looks as if the massive slowdown in the economy is not materializing as a lot of people expected,” said Ryan Detrick, senior market strategist at LPL Financial in Charlotte, North Carolina.
\n
“It’s a nice reminder that the economy is still taking two steps forward for each step back even amid the COVID concerns,” Detrick added.
\n
Economically sensitive transports and microchips were among the outperformers.
\n
Data released before the opening bell showed an unexpected bump in retail sales as shoppers weathered Hurricane Ida and the COVID Delta variant, evidence of resilience in the consumer, who contributes about 70% to U.S. economic growth.
\n
“Once again, it shows the U.S. consumer continues to spend and continues to help this economy grow,” Detrick said.
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 63.07 points, or 0.18%, to 34,751.32; the S&P 500 lost 6.95 points, or 0.16%, at 4,473.75; and the Nasdaq Composite added 20.40 points, or 0.13%, at 15,181.92.
\n
Eight of the 11 major sectors in the S&P 500 ended lower, with materials suffering the largest percentage drop.
\n
The consumer discretionary spending sector posted the biggest gain, with Amazon.com doing the heavy lifting.
\n
Apparel company Gap Inc gained 1.6%. Online marketplace Etsy Inc and luxury accessory company Tapestry Inc rose 3.1% and 1.9%, respectively.
\n
Ford Motor Co rose 1.4% after it announced plans to boost production of its F-150 electric pickup model.
\n
Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.27-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.06-to-1 ratio favored advancers.
\n
The S&P 500 posted nine new 52-week highs and one new low; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 82 new highs and 94 new lows.
\n
Volume on U.S. exchanges was 9.37 billion shares, compared with the 9.44 billion average over the last 20 trading days.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; This is an opportunity for long-term investors to accumulate shares incrementally as the stock retreats.
\n
\n
Spencer Platt/Getty Images News
\n
Investment Thesis:
\n
Amazon (AMZN) (also, \"the Company\" hereafter) reported results that disappointed some who may not have anticipated a retreat from the pandemic-fueled growth rates seen previously. As an investor who is still accumulating chips, I see this as more opportunity than setback and see the stock's retreat as missing the forest for the trees - a market hallmark. The metrics are stronger than many reports indicate and this pullback also acts to keep the stock from going euphoric and decoupling from underlying metrics. Accumulating incrementally during the likely brief downtrend may be the best course of action.
\n
By The Numbers
\n
Q2 2021 top-line revenue came in at $113B compared to Q1 2021 $108.5B, a 4% quarterly increase. Revenue was up 27% compared to Q2 2020. EBITDA for Q2 2021 was up a whopping 36% over the same period in 2020, however was down 14% from Q1 2021. However, due to the cyclical nature of retail, I prefer to analyze the data using the trailing twelve months (TTMs) by quarter.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha.
\n
Over the TTMs Amazon generated $443B in revenues and an impressive $59B in EBITDA. While growth certainly slowed from Q1 2021 savvy investors understand that data does not exist in a vacuum and must be put in proper context. Covid created immense growth that was known to be inorganic as many who would typically frequent brick-and-mortar stores shopped from home. Many of these folks will continue to frequent Amazon, while some will return to previous habits. Still, others likely returned to retail upon lifting of restrictions just to leave the house and feel normal and will utilize online retail more once the novelty wears off. The same logic applies to Amazon's digital offerings. For these reasons, Q2 2021 growth was destined to slow from the breakneck pace of the prior periods, however, the Company still managed to grow revenue nearly 6% over the prior TTMs and, as stated above, 4% over Q1 2021 - no small feat. The Delta variant and likely return to restrictions and caution from shoppers will again change the game for the final 2 months of Q3 and likely for Q4 2021. Frankly, and amazingly, I believe we are about to be caught flat-footed against this variant which will be bad for many, but possibly positive for Amazon's sales in Q3 and Q4 2021.
\n
The data on a per share basis tells much the same story as above.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha.
\n
Revenue growth per share is solid while EBITDA and cash from operations per share have stalled. Many have expressed concern with the decrease in cash flow from operations, however, I prefer to use levered free cash flow (LFCF) as I believe it is a better metric to determine true cash available to shareholders. Cash flow from operations (CFO) is impacted by temporary changes in accounts receivable and accounts payable (changes in working capital), and does not account for capital expenditures (CAPEX) or debt payments. LFCF is a better measure of the cash available once all obligations have been met.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha
\n
The Company's LFCF is down from the Covid holiday boom, but still rose significantly from 2019 results and was still up on a quarterly basis.
\n
Further, when measuring results, the quality of the earnings can be brought to light by measuring LFCF as a percentage of either net income or EBITDA. I compared Amazon's LFCF/EBITDA to some of the most successful companies, including a lesser-known name, Intuitive Surgical, Inc (ISRG) that, if you are unfamiliar with this company, I encourage you to explore this juggernauthereandhere.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha *Stocks with different fiscal years are as of the closest period*
\n
As shown, Amazon has come back to earth a bit from the pandemic heights, however still produces better LFCF/EBITDA consistently more than retail competitor Walmart (WMT), and also Microsoft (MSFT) and NVIDIA (NVDA), while lagging Visa (V), Mastercard (MA), and Apple (AAPL) which generally spend much less on CAPEX. It is also clear why I am so bullish on Intuitive Surgical. For Amazon, it is apparent that the pandemic boost lost steam in Q2 2021, however, the results were still quite positive.
\n
Valuation & Opportunity
\n
While Amazon's quarter was impressive by most standards, it disappointed many who decided to take profits last week.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
For long-term investors, this is not necessarily a negative. If one is still adding money to investment accounts or looking to take profits in other holdings and reallocate funds, the drawback represents an opportunity. I prefer to accumulate incrementally during a downturn rather than trying to call a bottom. How long it continues and how low the stock falls is unknown, however, I believe the downtrend will be short-lived. Another reason not to be rattled by the sell-off last week is that the stock has avoided the dreaded euphoria that likely would have caused the valuation to decouple from results leaving long-term investors in a poor place to add shares. The pullback will allow the fundamentals to catch up to the valuation a bit. Below I have compared Amazon's valuation to some of the outstanding companies above and also added digital rival Netflix (NFLX), Seeking Alpha fan-favorite Palantir (PLTR), and the ever-polarizing Tesla (TSLA) for additional context.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Y-charts. FWD revenue growth from Seeking Alpha.
\n
Note that forward revenue growth estimates (YOY) are listed for consideration.
\n
I have also seen concern expressed for the enterprise value to cash from operations (EV/CFO), however, this does not convince me that there is long-term trouble in this area, especially in light of the increase in LFCF.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
Finally, the short interest can be a useful tool to determine when the stock has become overvalued. Amazon is again running less than 1% of the float short, which is an indication that the downswing may be short and shallow.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
The short interest is near historic lows, pandemic notwithstanding, and after a brief rise as shares touched $3,700 is again falling. The short interest at this level tells me that while some grumble about the Company's value, few are willing to put their money where their mouth is at this point. I have included the short interest of other stocks discussed below for comparison.
\n
Chart created by author with data from TD Ameritrade.
\n
CEO Transition & Obstacles Ahead
\n
Jeff Bezos is an extremely savvy executive and likely could see that, post-pandemic, the heavy lifting would begin in earnest. He chose to enjoy his billions and take a rocket into space while on top. I certainly don't blame him. Meanwhile, new CEO Andy Jassy assumes command after 24 years with the Company. While some may see Bezos stepping down as a negative, it can also allow an opportunity for the new CEO with a fresh voice and something to prove. Apple has thrived after the transition from Steve Jobs to Tim Cook and hopefully, this will also be the case at Amazon. His job won't be easy as congress seeks increased regulations on large tech and the labor force presents challenges on multiple fronts. Jassy is largely credited for growing the highly profitable AWS arm of the Company which shows from where management believes much of the future growth is likely to come.
\n
Risks and Uncertainties
\n
As mentioned above, congressional leaders from both parties have expressed concerns with the power of large tech companies and pledged to reign them in. This could negatively affect results and there is the possibility that some large tech companies would be forced to spin-off segments. Spin-offs would not necessarily be detrimental to current shareholders, however, the market despises uncertainty and this could cause the share price to further retreat. On the other hand, congress is full of tough talk and weak action so I am skeptical.
\n
Also mentioned above are the labor issues. The workforce becoming unionized could affect profit margins. More generally, the entire labor market is tight at the moment causing shortages of workers and rising wages. Rising wages across the economy will also serve to increase the spending power of consumers which has potential benefits for a company like Amazon.
\n
The market wasnot impressedby Q2 2021 earnings and the stock took a substantial hit. This downtrend may continue while investors exercise caution post-Bezos and post-retail reopening, which is why I recommend incremental buying.
\n
Conclusion
\n
When I see a headline on Seeking Alpha that \"Department store stocks rally, while online retailers sell off\", I see an opportunity. This development is remarkably short-sighted and unlikely to last.
\n
Amazon's Q2 2021 results have caused many investors to take profits and some to claim that the Company's stellar run is over. This is an opportunity for long-term investors to accumulate shares incrementally as the stock retreats.\n\nSpencer Platt/Getty Images News\nInvestment Thesis:\nAmazon (AMZN) (also, \"the Company\" hereafter) reported results that disappointed some who may not have anticipated a retreat from the pandemic-fueled growth rates seen previously. Accumulating incrementally during the likely brief downtrend may be the best course of action.\nBy The Numbers\nQ2 2021 top-line revenue came in at $113B compared to Q1 2021 $108.5B, a 4% quarterly increase. Revenue was up 27% compared to Q2 2020. EBITDA for Q2 2021 was up a whopping 36% over the same period in 2020, however was down 14% from Q1 2021. However, due to the cyclical nature of retail, I prefer to analyze the data using the trailing twelve months (TTMs) by quarter.\nChart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha.\nOver the TTMs Amazon generated $443B in revenues and an impressive $59B in EBITDA. Frankly, and amazingly, I believe we are about to be caught flat-footed against this variant which will be bad for many, but possibly positive for Amazon's sales in Q3 and Q4 2021.\nThe data on a per share basis tells much the same story as above.\nChart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha.\nRevenue growth per share is solid while EBITDA and cash from operations per share have stalled. LFCF is a better measure of the cash available once all obligations have been met.\nChart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha\nThe Company's LFCF is down from the Covid holiday boom, but still rose significantly from 2019 results and was still up on a quarterly basis.\nFurther, when measuring results, the quality of the earnings can be brought to light by measuring LFCF as a percentage of either net income or EBITDA. I compared Amazon's LFCF/EBITDA to some of the most successful companies, including a lesser-known name, Intuitive Surgical, Inc (ISRG) that, if you are unfamiliar with this company, I encourage you to explore this juggernauthereandhere.\nChart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha *Stocks with different fiscal years are as of the closest period*\nAs shown, Amazon has come back to earth a bit from the pandemic heights, however still produces better LFCF/EBITDA consistently more than retail competitor Walmart (WMT), and also Microsoft (MSFT) and NVIDIA (NVDA), while lagging Visa (V), Mastercard (MA), and Apple (AAPL) which generally spend much less on CAPEX. It is also clear why I am so bullish on Intuitive Surgical. For Amazon, it is apparent that the pandemic boost lost steam in Q2 2021, however, the results were still quite positive.\nValuation & Opportunity\nWhile Amazon's quarter was impressive by most standards, it disappointed many who decided to take profits last week.\nData by YCharts\nFor long-term investors, this is not necessarily a negative. Below I have compared Amazon's valuation to some of the outstanding companies above and also added digital rival Netflix (NFLX), Seeking Alpha fan-favorite Palantir (PLTR), and the ever-polarizing Tesla (TSLA) for additional context.\nChart created by author with data from Y-charts. FWD revenue growth from Seeking Alpha.\nNote that forward revenue growth estimates (YOY) are listed for consideration.\nI have also seen concern expressed for the enterprise value to cash from operations (EV/CFO), however, this does not convince me that there is long-term trouble in this area, especially in light of the increase in LFCF.\nData by YCharts\nFinally, the short interest can be a useful tool to determine when the stock has become overvalued. Amazon is again running less than 1% of the float short, which is an indication that the downswing may be short and shallow.\nData by YCharts\nThe short interest is near historic lows, pandemic notwithstanding, and after a brief rise as shares touched $3,700 is again falling. The short interest at this level tells me that while some grumble about the Company's value, few are willing to put their money where their mouth is at this point. I have included the short interest of other stocks discussed below for comparison.\nChart created by author with data from TD Ameritrade.\nCEO Transition & Obstacles Ahead\nJeff Bezos is an extremely savvy executive and likely could see that, post-pandemic, the heavy lifting would begin in earnest. Jassy is largely credited for growing the highly profitable AWS arm of the Company which shows from where management believes much of the future growth is likely to come.\nRisks and Uncertainties\nAs mentioned above, congressional leaders from both parties have expressed concerns with the power of large tech companies and pledged to reign them in. This could negatively affect results and there is the possibility that some large tech companies would be forced to spin-off segments. Spin-offs would not necessarily be detrimental to current shareholders, however, the market despises uncertainty and this could cause the share price to further retreat. On the other hand, congress is full of tough talk and weak action so I am skeptical.\nAlso mentioned above are the labor issues. The workforce becoming unionized could affect profit margins. More generally, the entire labor market is tight at the moment causing shortages of workers and rising wages. Rising wages across the economy will also serve to increase the spending power of consumers which has potential benefits for a company like Amazon.\nThe market wasnot impressedby Q2 2021 earnings and the stock took a substantial hit. This downtrend may continue while investors exercise caution post-Bezos and post-retail reopening, which is why I recommend incremental buying.\nConclusion\nWhen I see a headline on Seeking Alpha that \"Department store stocks rally, while online retailers sell off\", I see an opportunity. This development is remarkably short-sighted and unlikely to last.\nAmazon's Q2 2021 results have caused many investors to take profits and some to claim that the Company's stellar run is over. The numbers, while tempered from the pandemic highs, are still impressive and a growth runway remains in the Company's most profitable segments. The new CEO will face the coming challenges with heaps of LFCF and the stock's valuation has become more favorable to long-term investors. This is not the first time the stock has pulled back from a seemingly weak quarter and in every instance, the correct move for long-term investors is crystal clear.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":330,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808284257,"gmtCreate":1627595611279,"gmtModify":1631891901856,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"bay","listText":"bay","text":"bay","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808284257","repostId":"1179174010","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":187,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":801277115,"gmtCreate":1627521078237,"gmtModify":1631891901859,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/801277115","repostId":"1171529765","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":236,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":801168921,"gmtCreate":1627488421363,"gmtModify":1631891901861,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"very good","listText":"very good","text":"very good","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/801168921","repostId":"1179923360","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":521,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":884077382,"gmtCreate":1631843213146,"gmtModify":1631888948560,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ncie","listText":"Ncie","text":"Ncie","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/884077382","repostId":"1105376345","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1105376345","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1631833833,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1105376345?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-17 07:10","market":"us","language":"en","title":"S&P ends modestly lower as rising Treasury yields offset robust retail data","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1105376345","media":"Reuters","summary":"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Online marketplace Etsy Inc and luxury accessory company Tapestry Inc rose 3.1% and 1.9%, respectively.\nFord Motor Co rose 1.4% after it announced plans to boost production of its F-150 electric pickup model.\nDeclining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a 1.27-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.06-to-1 ratio favored advancers.\nThe S&P 500 posted nine new 52-week highs and one new low; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 82 new highs and 94 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 9.37 billion shares, compared with the 9.44 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":613,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":813912873,"gmtCreate":1630120259292,"gmtModify":1704956261451,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"N","listText":"N","text":"N","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/813912873","repostId":"2162733980","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":457,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":891336560,"gmtCreate":1628330743150,"gmtModify":1631888948654,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/891336560","repostId":"1157428986","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1157428986","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1628296262,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1157428986?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-07 08:31","market":"us","language":"en","title":"US IPO Week Ahead: 2 banks test the waters amid annual summer slowdown","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1157428986","media":"renaissancecap...","summary":"The IPO market is getting a breather as the August lull continues to set in, with just two banks sch","content":"
The IPO market is getting a breather as the August lull continues to set in, with just two banks scheduled for the week ahead.
\n
Utah-based digital bank FinWise Bancorp(FINW) plans to raise $58 million at a $183 million market cap. This is an opportunity for long-term investors to accumulate shares incrementally as the stock retreats.
\n
This is not the first time the stock has pulled back from a seemingly weak quarter and in every instance, the correct move for long-term investors is crystal clear.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":330,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":179938499,"gmtCreate":1626480849911,"gmtModify":1631891901875,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"D","listText":"D","text":"D","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/179938499","repostId":"1169536573","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1169536573","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1626448731,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1169536573?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-16 23:18","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Coupa Shares Extend Losses After Post-Analyst Day Selloff","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1169536573","media":"Thestreet","summary":"Coupa Software traded lower for a second day Friday, extending Thursday's near 10% loss, as analysts reassessed their outlooks for the financial management software company following a disappointing analyst day event.Coupa hosted a virtual analyst day on Thursday, when the platform provider shared additional detail about its Coupa Pay service, and also provided an update on its longer-term prospects.Analysts honed in on the more conservative outlook provided by Coupa's management team as the lik","content":"
Coupa Software(COUP) traded lower for a second day Friday, extending Thursday's near 10% loss, as analysts reassessed their outlooks for the financial management software company following a disappointing analyst day event.
\n
Coupa hosted a virtual analyst day on Thursday, when the platform provider shared additional detail about its Coupa Pay service, and also provided an update on its longer-term prospects.
\n
Analysts honed in on the more conservative outlook provided by Coupa's management team as the likely reason behind Thursday's selloff, though were generally sanguine about the company's longer-term prospects, with Piper Sandler one of the the few Wall Street investment firms to lower its one-year price target.
\n
Piper Sandler analysts also focused on lack of progress with Coupa Pay, noting that “… considering the necessary conservatism that is needed to continue the well-known beat and raise cadence, the set-up was always less than ideal.” They held their overweight rating on the stock though lowered their price target to $295 from $300.
\n
Truist Securities was slightly more upbeat, though admitted investors “could have been disappointed by either what they heard from an attach rate perspective on Coupa Pay or potentially were disappointed that it’s likely a multi-year time line before Coupa Pay really moves the needle.” They held their buy rating and price target of $326.
\n
Barclays analysts noted that while Coupa couldn’t meet “the very high expectations from the Street” for its Coupa Pay service it is maintaining its positive outlook. Both companies are well-positioned to take advantage of the short-term mismatch between supply and demand, the investment firm said.\n“In terms of positioning within the equities, one item to consider is timing, and STLD has that in spades as its new flat-roll mill on the Texas Gulf Coast comes on at a time of historically tight supplies (within a few months),” the note said. “CLF also has that given its 2020 acquisitions and is positioned with ample flexibility in raw materials, particularly with the HBI plant—a key differentiator, in our view, and its negotiations on the auto side should help protect margins for that piece of business.”\nGlick set price targets for Cleveland-Cliffs at $39 per share and Steel Dynamics at $107 per share, both roughly 70% above where the stocks closed on Tuesday. The previous JPMorgan analyst who covered Steel Dynamics had a price target of $33 per share for the stock.\nHere’s how JPMorgan rates other stocks in the sector:\n\nReliance Steel- Overweight\nGrafTech- Overweight\nStelco - Overweight\nCommercial Metals- Neutral\nNucor- Neutral\nCarpenter Tech- Neutral\nUS Steel- Underweight","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":285,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":899353432,"gmtCreate":1628163050826,"gmtModify":1631888948675,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Fabulously ","listText":"Fabulously ","text":"Fabulously","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/899353432","repostId":"1194249066","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1194249066","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1628162460,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1194249066?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-08-05 19:21","market":"us","language":"en","title":"\"They're In A Difficult Position\" - Archegos Employees Lose $500 Million As Bonus Fund Evaporates","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1194249066","media":"zerohedge","summary":"The (now former) employees of defunct Archegos Capital Management - the over-leveraged family office","content":"
The (now former) employees of defunct Archegos Capital Management - the over-leveraged family office that blew up back in March, saddling Credit Suisse and a handful of other brokers with billions of dollars in losses - have just learned a very important lesson:don't put all your eggs in one basket.
\n
Employees saw their golden parachutes evaporate alongside the rest of Bill Hwang's $20 billion fortune when a deferred pay plan set up by the firm crashed as the firm was hit with a massive margin call, exacerbated by its prime brokers selling off billions of dollars' of stocks in the span of a few panicked hours.
\n
Instead of paying employees the entirety of their bonuses in cash, the firm convinced them to keep at least some of their bonus with the firm, placing the money in a separate pot that was apparently invested in the same stocks that the firm was betting on. Pauker declined to comment.\n\nAt this point, the DoJmight take action against Hwang before creditors see any money(this isn't the first time Hwang has been on the radar of authorities).\nThe DoJ has opened an investigation into into Archegos and has asked its prime brokers for information about the trades, which relied on a derivative known as a \"Total Return Swap\", which only required Archegos to post margin, while the prime brokers entered into the positions on behalf of the firm.\nWith Hwang's entire $20 billion fortunate said to have evaporated during the selloff, getting their deferred comp back will be like getting blood from a stone.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":220,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":804625768,"gmtCreate":1627955076154,"gmtModify":1631891901846,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Go ","listText":"Go ","text":"Go","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/804625768","repostId":"2156114224","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":316,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808284257,"gmtCreate":1627595611279,"gmtModify":1631891901856,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"bay","listText":"bay","text":"bay","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808284257","repostId":"1179174010","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1179174010","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1627572541,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1179174010?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-29 23:29","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Musk confirms Tesla AI Day will be on August 19","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1179174010","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Tesla shares surged more than 5% after Elon Musk confirming Tesla AI Day will be on August 19.Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed via tweet on Thursday that the company is holding an AI Day on Aug. 19.While the company did not provide details of the artificial intelligence event, Musk said in a June 21 tweet that the event \"will go over progress with Tesla AI software & hardware, both training & inference\" and that its purpose is recruiting. The focus of the AI event is likely to be around Tesla's self","content":"
Tesla shares surged more than 5% after Elon Musk confirming Tesla AI Day will be on August 19.
\n

\n
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed via tweet on Thursday that the company is holding an AI Day on Aug. 19.
\n
While the company did not provide details of the artificial intelligence event, Musk said in a June 21 tweet that the event \"will go over progress with Tesla AI software & hardware, both training & inference\" and that its purpose is recruiting.
\n
The focus of the AI event is likely to be around Tesla's self-driving technology. TheS&P 500slid 1.3% to 4,166.45. Both the Dow and S&P 500 hit their session lows in the final minutes of trading and closed around those levels. TheNasdaq Compositeclosed 0.9% lower at 14,030.38. Economic comeback plays led the market losses.\nFor the week, the 30-stock Dow lost 3.5%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were down by 1.9% and 0.2%, respectively, week to date.\nSt. Louis Federal Reserve President Jim Bullardtold CNBC's \"Squawk Box\"on Friday it was natural for the Fed to tilt a little \"hawkish\" this week and that the first rate increase from the central bank would likely come in 2022. His comments came after the Fed on Wednesday added two rate hikes to its 2023 forecast and increased its inflation projection for the year, putting pressure on stock prices.\n\"The fear held by some investors is that if the Fed tightens policy sooner than expected to help cool inflationary pressures, this could weigh on future economic growth,\" Truist Advisory Services chief market strategist Keith Lerner said in a note. To be sure, he added it would be premature to give up on the so-called value trade right now.\nPockets of the market most sensitive to the economic rebound led the sell-off this week. The S&P 500 energy sector and industrials dropped 5.2% and 3.8%, respectively, for the week. Financials and materials meanwhile, lost more than 6% each. These groups had been market leaders this year on the back of the economic reopening.\nThe decline in stocks came as the Fed's actions caused a drastic flattening of the so-called Treasury yield curve. This means the yields of shorter-duration Treasurys — like the 2-year note — rose while longer-duration yields like the benchmark 10-year declined. The retreat in long-dated bond yields reflects less optimism toward economic growth, while the jump in short-end yields shows the expectations of the Fed raising rates.\nThis phenomenon hurt bank stocks particularly as their earnings could take a hit when the spread between short-term and long-term rates narrows. Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase shares on Friday lost more than 2% each. Citigroup fell by 1.8%, posting its 12th straight daily decline.\nFed Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday that officials have discussed tapering bond buying and would at some point begin slowing the asset purchases.\n\"This week's first whiff of an eventual change in Fed policy was a reminder that emergency monetary conditions and the free-money era will ultimately end,\" strategists at MRB Partners wrote in a note. \"We expect a series of incremental retreats from the Fed's benign inflation outlook in the coming months.\"\nCommodity prices were underpressure this weekas China attempted to cool rising prices and as the U.S. dollar strengthens. Copper, gold and platinum fell once again on Friday.\nFriday also coincided with the quarterly \"quadruple witching\" in which options and futures on indexes and equities expire. This event may have contributed to more volatile trading during the session.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":393,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":862223515,"gmtCreate":1632883031520,"gmtModify":1632883031520,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/862223515","repostId":"1157090637","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1426,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":861953252,"gmtCreate":1632450362176,"gmtModify":1632722571937,"author":{"id":"3583418771305506","authorId":"3583418771305506","name":"Jaspyy","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3583418771305506","authorIdStr":"3583418771305506"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice","listText":"Nice","text":"Nice","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/861953252","repostId":"1107694982","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1512,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
