How valid are Chanos’s calls that valuations on DKNG stock and others justify a short call?\nExcessive valuations alone are not a good enough reason to bet against a company. Investors can only guess if Chanos’ overvaluation bet will pay off. He bet for years against Tesla(NASDAQ:TSLA) did not pan out. Shareholders need to re-evaluate the growth prospects of online sports betting and DraftKings’ position in the market.\nGambling Legalization Matters for DKNG Stock\nLegal Sports Report said afederal court decisionwill cease sports betting in Florida. This ruling adds uncertainty to DraftKings in the near term. Investors are skittish in holding DKNG stock because of its valuation. At over 20 times sales, five times book, and a debt/equity of 0.68 times, the company’s growth prospects cannot weaken. Court rulings that slow sports betting legalization will delay DraftKings’ business momentum in 2022.\nIn Nevada, DraftKings and FanDuel already applied for gaming licenses on March 11, 2020. Those applications are still pending. The more delays it faces, the more shareholders realize the company will not post strong growth in the short term.\nModest Third-Quarter Results\nIn the third quarter, DraftKings posted revenue growing by 60%. Its monthly unique payers (MUPs) grew by 31%. Monthly unique paying customers averaged 1.3 million. The company benefited from strong unique payer retention. It added users through its iGaming and Sportsbook products. Its expansion of both products also lifted MUPs.\nDraftKings increased its Average Revenue per MUP (ARPMUP) to $47, up by 38% from last year.\nThe company raised the midpoint of its revenue guidance to $1.26 billion. This reflects new state launches and its proven ability to add users and keep them engaged. Despite the strong outlook, DKNG shares slipped in November, losing around 40% of their value.\nOpportunity\nOn Nov. 1, DraftKings ended its $22 billion deal to buy Entain. Its decision not to proceed is a positive development for shareholders. The firm would have paid a premium to grab a company with a solid record of accomplishment of growth. This comes at an expensive price target.\nDraftKings may focus on lowering its cost of revenue and spending effectively on sales and marketing in 2022. Competition for acquiring customers will heat up. As long as it stays ahead by growing faster than the market average, investors will hold the stock for the long term. In New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, the firm sustained its lead. It did not benefit from a Daily Fantasy Sports for Cash database on those states.\nDraftKings is depending on getting licenses in states like New York to reach profitability. It will adjust its marketing efforts depending on when a state rewards it a license. Its business model targets a path to profitability in two or three years. When the company posts quarterly results, investors must watch the gross margin levels.\nGrowth\nBesides an initial lift in the first 30 days of launching in Wyoming and Arizona, DraftKings has product innovations to drive growth. For example, Rocket (on slide 4) and NFL Flash Bet will lift their gross margins. The company is in the early phases of growing DraftKings Marketplace. It launched the marketplace on Aug. 11 and posted over $20 million of gross merchandise volume in the third quarter.\nThe company has the flexibility to adjust its product mix to increase new customer acquisition rates. It demonstrated good customer retention. This allows DraftKings to cross-sell Autograph from the marketplace to existing customers.\nFair Value and Your Takeaway\nOn Wall Street, analysts have a price target that ranges from $34 to as high as $105. On Stock Rover, a stock scoring service, DKNG shares have weak grades. The stock suffers from a poor valuation and quality score.\nThe value score will rise should the stock continue to dip further. Investors are no longer paying as big a premium for DraftKing winning online sports betting licenses.\nMarkets started to shy away from sports gambling stocks a few months ago. DraftKings is the leader in the space.FuboTV(NYSE:FUBO) may look cheaper as it trades at a smaller market capitalization. Meanwhile, the more beaten-down Citigroup(NYSE:C)had fallen more than 3%, and Wells Fargo(NYSE:WFC)declined more than 5%. These are big daily moves for more stable large-cap stocks.
\n
So what
\n
While Americans were enjoying their Thanksgiving meals, multiple media outlets reported that a new variant of the coronavirus had emerged in South Africa known as B.1.1.529 variant.
\n
Scientists reported that the strain had more than 30 mutations to the spike protein, which is the part of the virus that attaches to a person's cells. This is significantly more mutations than the delta variant. Adding to the storm, pharmaceutical company Merck, which has been developing an antiviral pill to treat more severe cases of COVID-19 after people contract the virus, disclosed that the pill was not as effective at treatment as had been initially hoped.
\n
The variant news resulted in a strong global reaction, as the World Health Organization called an emergency meeting to discuss it. Additionally, the European Union proposed a ban on flights from South Africa. Little is yet known over how severe cases from the B.1.1.529 variant are, but early knowledge has scientists and experts extremely concerned.
\n
\"If we have another COVID strain that can spread even more readily than delta, that would pose a challenge to all of us around the world, because when delta arrived this summer, it changed the game,\" William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University, told CNBC today.
\n
Banksare extremely linked to the economy due to the fact that they lend money and interact with most sectors in it. So any time a new variant pops up and threatens to increase cases, it is one sector that will take a hit because investors fear potential future lockdowns, stalling economic growth, and potential loan quality concerns.
\n
The news also comes at an already treacherous time for the market, which over the past few weeks has been dealing with a stronger inflationary environment, rising bond yields, and increasing sentiment that the Federal Reserve may raise its benchmark federal funds rate next year.
\n
Furthermore, the struggles with inflation may make it more difficult for the federal government to respond to a new severe wave of the coronavirus, says Edward Smith, co-chief investment officer at the Rathbone Investment Management.
\n
\"That's the big cause for concern: Is policy able to respond and bail out markets and economies this time given inflation?\" he toldThe Wall Street Journal. Smith also said that more lockdowns or restrictions could continue to increase global supply chain issues and add to inflation.
\n
Now what
\n
While I think the strong global reaction to this new variant is warranted, I am not ready to panic just yet. Meanwhile, the more beaten-down Citigroup(NYSE:C)had fallen more than 3%, and Wells Fargo(NYSE:WFC)declined more than 5%. These are big daily moves for more stable large-cap stocks.\nSo what\nWhile Americans were enjoying their Thanksgiving meals, multiple media outlets reported that a new variant of the coronavirus had emerged in South Africa known as B.1.1.529 variant.\nScientists reported that the strain had more than 30 mutations to the spike protein, which is the part of the virus that attaches to a person's cells. This is significantly more mutations than the delta variant. Adding to the storm, pharmaceutical company Merck, which has been developing an antiviral pill to treat more severe cases of COVID-19 after people contract the virus, disclosed that the pill was not as effective at treatment as had been initially hoped.\nThe variant news resulted in a strong global reaction, as the World Health Organization called an emergency meeting to discuss it. Additionally, the European Union proposed a ban on flights from South Africa. Little is yet known over how severe cases from the B.1.1.529 variant are, but early knowledge has scientists and experts extremely concerned.\n\"If we have another COVID strain that can spread even more readily than delta, that would pose a challenge to all of us around the world, because when delta arrived this summer, it changed the game,\" William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University, told CNBC today.\nBanksare extremely linked to the economy due to the fact that they lend money and interact with most sectors in it. So any time a new variant pops up and threatens to increase cases, it is one sector that will take a hit because investors fear potential future lockdowns, stalling economic growth, and potential loan quality concerns.\nThe news also comes at an already treacherous time for the market, which over the past few weeks has been dealing with a stronger inflationary environment, rising bond yields, and increasing sentiment that the Federal Reserve may raise its benchmark federal funds rate next year.\nFurthermore, the struggles with inflation may make it more difficult for the federal government to respond to a new severe wave of the coronavirus, says Edward Smith, co-chief investment officer at the Rathbone Investment Management.\n\"That's the big cause for concern: Is policy able to respond and bail out markets and economies this time given inflation?\" he toldThe Wall Street Journal. Smith also said that more lockdowns or restrictions could continue to increase global supply chain issues and add to inflation.\nNow what\nWhile I think the strong global reaction to this new variant is warranted, I am not ready to panic just yet. We still don't know how severe it is or if it can evade vaccines.\nI also feel quite confident in these large-cap U.S. bank stocks considering how well they held up during the pandemic in 2020. They all have strong levels of capital and lots of liquidity, giving me every bit of confidence they could survive another downturn. In particular, the pullback on Citigroup, which already traded at beaten-down levels, strikes me as a great buying opportunity.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"BAC":0.9,"C":0.9,"JPM":0.9,"WFC":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":673,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":600314557,"gmtCreate":1638066866891,"gmtModify":1638066867036,"author":{"id":"3584680402793671","authorId":"3584680402793671","name":"Bull1973","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/866d29bf88ff7363d121a5ccc6028aae","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3584680402793671","authorIdStr":"3584680402793671"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great day","listText":"Great day","text":"Great day","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/600314557","repostId":"1101751671","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1101751671","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1637969612,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1101751671?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-27 07:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"AAL, DAL, UAL Stocks: Why Are Airline Stocks Down Today?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1101751671","media":"InvestorPlace","summary":"Airline stocks and other travel-related equities are getting hit hard today as a new variant of Covi","content":"
\n
Airline stocks and other travel-related equities are getting hit hard today as a new variant of Covid-19 has prompted several European countries, including the United Kingdom and Germany, to impose ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; This comes after a new, more contagious variant of Covid-19 has emerged in South Africa, with one case of the variant also reported in Israel.\nOther travel-related stocks, ranging from Airbnb(NASDAQ:ABNB) to Expedia Group(NASDAQ:EXPE) are also down more than 5% on news of the new coronavirus variant.\nWhat Happened With Airline Stocks\nStock markets around the world are plunging today on news that a potentially more deadlyvariant of Covid-19has emerged in South Africa. As the World Health Organization (WHO) convenes an emergency meeting in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss and examine the new variant, markets in Europe had their worst session in more than year. In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index each fell more than 2%.\nIn the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 2.6%, while the S&P 500is down 1.9% and the Nasdaq Composite is down 1.6%. However, airline and travel stocks appear to be taking the brunt of the decline as governments across Europereacted swiftlyto the new Covid-19 variant. The U.K. and Germany are already blocking flights from South Africa. Other countries such as France and Italy have announced temporary travel bans from southern Africa, while Asian nations such as Singapore and Japan announced plans to broadly tighten their border controls.\nThe variant has been labeled B.1.1.529.\nWhy It Matters\nThetravel and tourism sectorwas arguable hardest hit by the pandemic, and airline stocks were only now beginning a tentative recovery. American Airlines, the largest carrier in the world with more international flights than any other company, has been particularly hurt. Before today’s selloff, AAL stock remained more than 30% below its pre-pandemic level. Many airlines were forced to take on huge amounts of debt during the pandemic and also tookfinancial aid packagesfrom the federal government that amounted to $54 billion.\nAmerican Airlines alone saw itsdebt swellto $40 billion over the last year and a half. That countries around the world may once again close their borders to international travelers and reimpose lockdown measures is terrible news for airline and travel companies, and comes at the worst possible time. The situation could also hurt taxpayers if governments are again forced to bail out the airlines in the face of new travel restrictions. How bad things ultimately get with the new Covid-19 variant remains to be seen. But the initial reaction is harming airline and travel stocks today.\nWhat’s Next\nAll eye will be on the World Health Organization and its emergency meeting in Geneva today. An update from the WHO on the new variant will either reassure markets or could lead to an even greater selloff, depending on how contagious and deadly the new variant proves to be. For now, airlines and other travel stocks look likely to continue falling as investors react to the latest pandemic news.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AAL":0.9,"DAL":0.9,"UAL":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1189,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":877572873,"gmtCreate":1637965490652,"gmtModify":1637965782761,"author":{"id":"3584680402793671","authorId":"3584680402793671","name":"Bull1973","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/866d29bf88ff7363d121a5ccc6028aae","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3584680402793671","authorIdStr":"3584680402793671"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Great day ","listText":"Great day ","text":"Great day","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/877572873","repostId":"2186343609","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2186343609","kind":"highlight","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1637938861,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2186343609?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-11-26 23:01","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Humble & Fume Posts 27% Organic Growth In Revenue As It Expands Distribution Operations In The US","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2186343609","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Cannabis distributor Humble & Fume Inc. But there are few practical solutions to administering them quickly in the U.S. or distributing them in time to foreign countries, according to those involved in the vaccination drive.
\n
The stockpile is, in part, an unintended consequence of the U.S.’s decision in April totemporarily suspend administrationof J&J doses to assess a rare blood-clot risk. The pause forced states and providers tocancel large blocksof appointments that were never rescheduled, leaving a surplus of supply, andin some areas increasing hesitancyover the J&J vaccine’s safety, according to industry officials.
\n
Some hospitals and states say that vaccines fromPfizerInc.and partnerBioNTech SE,as well asModernaInc.,are due to expire later this summer, but the stockpiles so far are largely of J&J doses. Pfizer’s vaccine expires six months after manufacture. Moderna’s vaccine can remain frozen for up to six months, during which it can be refrigerated for one month.
\n
Philadelphia has 42,000 J&J doses set to expire, most of which came from a Federal Emergency Management Agency clinic at the city’s convention center a few days before the pause, a city spokesman said. Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Arkansas are among states that report having thousands of J&J doses set to expire this month and have been unable to redistribute them.
\n
“There’s no way at the end of June that we’re not going to have a couple thousand expiring,” said Danielle Hilborn, who helps oversee Covid-19 vaccines for McLaren Health Care Corp. The hospital system based outside Flint, Mich., has more than 3,500 J&J doses set to expire this month, despite having moved doses among its hospitals and shipped 1,100 to a county health department.
\n
Hospitals and public-health departments offering the shots have begun special promotions to use J&J’s shots before they go bad. Some health systems have redistributed them inside and outside their networks, and some states have rerouted them to physician offices, pharmacies or other states.
\n
The efforts have had limited success because of thenation’s slowdown in overall vaccinationsand because many states and vaccination sites also have expiring J&J supply and don’t see demand for more doses. Just over half of the 21.4 million J&J shots distributed to providers have been administered, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, versus 83% for shots from Moderna Inc. as well as Pfizer Inc. and its partner, BioNTech.
\n
J&J stores doses frozen until shipment by the government, at which point they are refrigerated. Doses can be refrigerated for three months, and the drugmaker is studying whether the shelf life can be extended, a company spokesman said.
\n
Many drugs and vaccines can remain effective for years, but all eventually start to lose potency. Typically, expiring prescription drugs and vaccines for other diseases are sent to other healthcare facilities, overseas or back to manufacturers, hospital officials said.
\n
Covid-19 vaccines come with expiration information, which is determined by manufacturers based on testing data that is later cleared by regulators. Vaccines may still work after the expiration dates, according to manufacturing experts, but data was limited when the vaccines were authorized.
\n
The issue of expiring doses is the latest setback for J&J’s Covid-19 vaccine effort. An accident at a contract manufacturer’s plant led to thecontamination of materialthat could have yielded up to 15 million doses and led to a halt in production of the J&J vaccine there.
\n
Dr. Bechara Choucair, the White House vaccine coordinator, has briefed governors and local health officials on best practices to maximize supply, according to a White House official, who also cited ongoing U.S. Food and Drug Administration reviews of whether J&J doses may have longer shelf lives. A second administration official said recalling doses that have already been shipped out to vaccination sites to potentially redistribute them would be logistically and legally challenging.
\n
One of the administration officials said most Covid-19 vaccines in the U.S. aren’t close to expiring.
\n
State health departments and hospital officials say the guidance from states and the CDC is to destroy or discard expired doses. The CDC didn’t respond to requests for comment.
\n
In early April, U.S. regulators paused the use of J&J’s vaccine after reports ofrare but severe blood clots. In response, vaccination sites across the country canceled thousands of appointments and instead offered people Pfizer or Moderna doses. But there are few practical solutions to administering them quickly in the U.S. or distributing them in time to foreign countries, according to those involved in the vaccination drive.\nThe stockpile is, in part, an unintended consequence of the U.S.’s decision in April totemporarily suspend administrationof J&J doses to assess a rare blood-clot risk. The pause forced states and providers tocancel large blocksof appointments that were never rescheduled, leaving a surplus of supply, andin some areas increasing hesitancyover the J&J vaccine’s safety, according to industry officials.\nSome hospitals and states say that vaccines fromPfizerInc.and partnerBioNTech SE,as well asModernaInc.,are due to expire later this summer, but the stockpiles so far are largely of J&J doses. Pfizer’s vaccine expires six months after manufacture. Moderna’s vaccine can remain frozen for up to six months, during which it can be refrigerated for one month.\nPhiladelphia has 42,000 J&J doses set to expire, most of which came from a Federal Emergency Management Agency clinic at the city’s convention center a few days before the pause, a city spokesman said. Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Oklahoma and Arkansas are among states that report having thousands of J&J doses set to expire this month and have been unable to redistribute them.\n“There’s no way at the end of June that we’re not going to have a couple thousand expiring,” said Danielle Hilborn, who helps oversee Covid-19 vaccines for McLaren Health Care Corp. The hospital system based outside Flint, Mich., has more than 3,500 J&J doses set to expire this month, despite having moved doses among its hospitals and shipped 1,100 to a county health department.\nHospitals and public-health departments offering the shots have begun special promotions to use J&J’s shots before they go bad. Some health systems have redistributed them inside and outside their networks, and some states have rerouted them to physician offices, pharmacies or other states.\nThe efforts have had limited success because of thenation’s slowdown in overall vaccinationsand because many states and vaccination sites also have expiring J&J supply and don’t see demand for more doses. Just over half of the 21.4 million J&J shots distributed to providers have been administered, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, versus 83% for shots from Moderna Inc. as well as Pfizer Inc. and its partner, BioNTech.\nJ&J stores doses frozen until shipment by the government, at which point they are refrigerated. Doses can be refrigerated for three months, and the drugmaker is studying whether the shelf life can be extended, a company spokesman said.\nMany drugs and vaccines can remain effective for years, but all eventually start to lose potency. Typically, expiring prescription drugs and vaccines for other diseases are sent to other healthcare facilities, overseas or back to manufacturers, hospital officials said.\nCovid-19 vaccines come with expiration information, which is determined by manufacturers based on testing data that is later cleared by regulators. Vaccines may still work after the expiration dates, according to manufacturing experts, but data was limited when the vaccines were authorized.\nThe issue of expiring doses is the latest setback for J&J’s Covid-19 vaccine effort. An accident at a contract manufacturer’s plant led to thecontamination of materialthat could have yielded up to 15 million doses and led to a halt in production of the J&J vaccine there.\nDr. Bechara Choucair, the White House vaccine coordinator, has briefed governors and local health officials on best practices to maximize supply, according to a White House official, who also cited ongoing U.S. Food and Drug Administration reviews of whether J&J doses may have longer shelf lives. A second administration official said recalling doses that have already been shipped out to vaccination sites to potentially redistribute them would be logistically and legally challenging.\nOne of the administration officials said most Covid-19 vaccines in the U.S. aren’t close to expiring.\nState health departments and hospital officials say the guidance from states and the CDC is to destroy or discard expired doses. The CDC didn’t respond to requests for comment.\nIn early April, U.S. regulators paused the use of J&J’s vaccine after reports ofrare but severe blood clots. In response, vaccination sites across the country canceled thousands of appointments and instead offered people Pfizer or Moderna doses. Regulators lifted the pause 10 days later, with J&J and regulators adding language to the vaccine’s label warning of a risk of blood clots.\nBy then, patient demand for Covid-19 vaccines shifted from mass-vaccination to smaller community settings amid lingering concerns about the rare clots, according to industry and state officials.\nThe regulatory pause and overall slowdown in vaccinations has left UofL Health in Louisville, Ky., with more than 6,000 J&J doses that expire this month, after having administered about 2,600 since early April, said Dr. Jason Smith, chief medical officer. “My bet is that we will wind up wasting some of that, unfortunately,” he said.\nTo use them, the health system is trying to reach physician offices outside its network, Dr. Smith said.\nPennsylvania’s Department of Health said it worked with the CDC and Chester County to try to transfer the county’s 50,000 expiring J&J doses to Oregon. The deal fell through when Oregon experienced a decline in demand and no longer wanted them, a Pennsylvania health department spokesman said.\nThe full extent of expiring Covid-19 vaccines is unknown because providers aren’t required to report it to the federal government, said Jessica Daley, a pharmacist and executive atPremierInc.,a large group-purchasing organization for hospitals.\nPremier is asking members whether they have expiring vaccines, and at least a dozen have said they have expiring J&J doses, Ms. Daley said. “It’s not as simple as just moving the vaccine somewhere else,” she said.\nSome states say they have asked the U.S. government whether doses can be shipped to developing nations.
