The prices paid index, driven higher by the current demand/supply imbalance, soared to its highest level since 1979, according to ISM.
\n
“The employment and manufacturing data released today supported the idea of continued growth but at a decelerated rate,” Carter added.
\n
Friday’s hotly anticipated jobs report is expected to show payrolls growing by 700,000 and unemployment inching down to 5.7%. A robust upside surprise could lead the U.S. Federal Reserve to adjust its timetable for tapering its securities purchases and raising key interest rates.
\n
“Too-strong economic data could perversely be a bad thing for markets if it caused the Fed to raise rates faster than expected,” Carter said. “Weak employment data may actually be welcomed.”
\n
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 131.02 points, or 0.38%, to 34,633.53, the S&P 500 gained 22.44 points, or 0.52%, to 4,319.94 and the Nasdaq Composite added 18.42 points, or 0.13%, to 14,522.38.
\n
Of the 11 major sectors in the S&P 500, consumer staples was the sole loser, shedding 0.3%.
\n
Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc dropped 7.4% after it said it expects to administer fewer COVID-19 vaccine shots in the fourth quarter.
\n
Didi Global Inc jumped 16.0%, on its second day of trading as a U.S.-listed company.
\n
Micron Technology Inc slid by 5.7% following a report that Texas Instruments would buy Micron’s Lehi, Utah, factory for $900 million.
\n
Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.78-to-1 ratio; The prices paid index, driven higher by the current demand/supply imbalance, soared to its highest level since 1979, according to ISM.\n“The employment and manufacturing data released today supported the idea of continued growth but at a decelerated rate,” Carter added.\nFriday’s hotly anticipated jobs report is expected to show payrolls growing by 700,000 and unemployment inching down to 5.7%. A robust upside surprise could lead the U.S. Federal Reserve to adjust its timetable for tapering its securities purchases and raising key interest rates.\n“Too-strong economic data could perversely be a bad thing for markets if it caused the Fed to raise rates faster than expected,” Carter said. “Weak employment data may actually be welcomed.”\nThe Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 131.02 points, or 0.38%, to 34,633.53, the S&P 500 gained 22.44 points, or 0.52%, to 4,319.94 and the Nasdaq Composite added 18.42 points, or 0.13%, to 14,522.38.\nOf the 11 major sectors in the S&P 500, consumer staples was the sole loser, shedding 0.3%.\nWalgreens Boots Alliance Inc dropped 7.4% after it said it expects to administer fewer COVID-19 vaccine shots in the fourth quarter.\nDidi Global Inc jumped 16.0%, on its second day of trading as a U.S.-listed company.\nMicron Technology Inc slid by 5.7% following a report that Texas Instruments would buy Micron’s Lehi, Utah, factory for $900 million.\nAdvancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.78-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.32-to-1 ratio favored advancers.\nThe S&P 500 posted 36 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 78 new highs and 30 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 9.53 billion shares, compared with the 10.9 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1830,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":151744635,"gmtCreate":1625109711327,"gmtModify":1631890756724,"author":{"id":"3574636578459826","authorId":"3574636578459826","name":"Noxology","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/07cf1424a0225887b39e13f3264de0b2","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574636578459826","authorIdStr":"3574636578459826"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Fuds","listText":"Fuds","text":"Fuds","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/151744635","repostId":"1105779613","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":876,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":104845902,"gmtCreate":1620378486206,"gmtModify":1631890756726,"author":{"id":"3574636578459826","authorId":"3574636578459826","name":"Noxology","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/07cf1424a0225887b39e13f3264de0b2","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574636578459826","authorIdStr":"3574636578459826"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Indeed","listText":"Indeed","text":"Indeed","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/104845902","repostId":"1157328258","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1157328258","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1620360165,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1157328258?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-05-07 12:02","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Amazon: The Most Clearly Undervalued Company","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1157328258","media":"Seeking alpha","summary":"SummaryAmazon is one of the companies whose growth has not yet reached its limit and not even entere","content":"
Summary

Amazon is one of the companies whose growth has not yet reached its limit and not even entered the plateau phase.

In terms of comparative valuation, AMZN is undervalued against the market.

DCF-based Amazon stock price target suggests 30% upside potential. But in this case, based on the patterns between the company's capitalization and the parameters of its revenue, we can conclude that the company isundervalued.Comparing Amazon to other companies through the prism of expected EPS growth, it must be admitted that the company ismuch cheaperthan the market.DCF model based on average expectations analysts indicate a 30% undervaluation. At the start of the year, a similarmodelindicated a 20% undervaluation. When you look at Amazon's revenue forecast for the next decade, you realize that the company will face growth problems. But in my opinion,it is better to invest in a company facing growth problems than aging problems.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMZN":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1663,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":105186210,"gmtCreate":1620278247130,"gmtModify":1631890756726,"author":{"id":"3574636578459826","authorId":"3574636578459826","name":"Noxology","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/07cf1424a0225887b39e13f3264de0b2","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574636578459826","authorIdStr":"3574636578459826"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Tech He’ll Autopilot it in.
\n
The bar may not be very high for a show that quarter after quarter fails to beat even its low analyst expectations, but showrunner Lorne Michaels is betting that Musk, whose ego and ambitions cannot be contained by the Earth’s gravitational pull, can supercharge the storied variety’s show’s ratings to the moon.
\n
When the billionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO takes to the 30 Rock stage on May 8, the live studio audience is likely to be made up of more than the usual number of SEC lawyers. It's why, even though we are enjoying a beautiful spring week, Goldman notes that single stock options trading activity is elevated relative to historical levels. To wit, daily options volumes are up 70% in April, up from YTD lows of $2.4bn on 30-Mar.

In total, across single stocks, $544BN of options are set to expiry today, including $305BN calls. As such, today’s expiry could be important for stocks with large open interest in at-the-money(ATM) options, as market makers delta-hedging their unusually large options portfolios will be active. This flow is likely to dampen volatility in some names while exacerbating stock price moves in others.

How to trade this?

As Goldman's Vishal Vivek writes, at major expirations, options traders track situations wherea large amount of open interest is set to expire. In situations where there is a significant amount of expiring open interest in at-the-money strikes (strike prices at or very near the current stockprice), delta-hedging activity can impact the underlying stock’s trading that day. If market makers or other options traders who delta-hedge their positions are net long ATM options, expiration-related flow could have the effect of dampening stock price movements, causing the stock price to settle near the strike with large open interest. This situation is often referred to as a “pin” and can be an ideal situation fora large investor trying to enter/exit a stock position. Alternatively, if delta-hedgers are net short ATM options (have a “negative gamma” position), their hedging activity could exacerbate stock price moves.

What that means it expiration-related trades may cause trading activity to aggressively pick up for stocks with a significant amount of ATM open interest.

So to help traders looking to hop on for daytrading opportunities, here is a table identifying possible focus stocks with large ATM open interest expiring today, which is compared to the average daily volume of the underlying stocks. As Goldman puts it, \"expiration-related activity is likely to have more of an impact if the open interest represents a significant percentage of the stock’s volume.\"

Finally, for what it's worth, this morning our friends at SpotGamma write that this has been a rather strange OPEX cycle, \"with a consistent almost mechanical bid pushing markets higher. We’ve not seen the Call Wall “breached” this many times before, but there are other aberrations that we’ve mentioned in previous notes – like net put sales. We’ve got some theories on this we are posting in a longer form piece.\"

According to SG, because implied volatility has now compressed (ie VIX at new lows) there is now more potential for “long term” volatility. Recall how as of late any sharp, violent drop in markets was bought so quickly (see chart below). These bursts lower coincided with record VIX spikes, but a reflective snap-back bid would bring a market recovery of equal force as the VIX (i.e. implied volatility) reversed.

And one other curious observation from SpotGamma:

When implied volatility is very high, its very sensitive to market moves and also signaling that markets are expecting more large moves ahead. As soon as markets would pause or catch a support level, that implied volatility would quickly reverse lower. We often think of this analogy that if a shark stops swimming, it sinks ( partially true!). If the market stops dropping then Implied volatility sinks.

With this, as we often talk about, lower implied volatility (ie lower VIX) signals market makers have to buy back short hedges which fuels rallies. SG's conclusion: this current level of lower implied volatility now gives the market more downside firepower. Starting with a lower implied volatility “slows down” that responsive “snap-back” buying mechanism. Additionally, gamma is higher when IV is lower so gamma flips may have more juice.
","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
$544 Billion In Options Expire Today: Here's What Will Move
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n$544 Billion In Options Expire Today: Here's What Will Move\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-04-16 22:18 GMT+8 zerohedge\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
While it's not quad (or even triple) witching day, today's a whole lot of weekly options will expire, may of which will be worthless, and others will be providing a supporting \"pin\" to underlying ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{".SPX":"S&P 500 Index","SPY":"标普500ETF",".IXIC":"NASDAQ Composite",".DJI":"道琼斯"},"source_url":"https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/544-billion-options-expire-today-heres-what-will-move?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+zerohedge%2Ffeed+%28zero+hedge+-+on+a+long+enough+timeline%2C+the+survival+rate+for+everyone+drops+to+zero%29","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1175692875","content_text":"While it's not quad (or even triple) witching day, today's a whole lot of weekly options will expire, may of which will be worthless, and others will be providing a supporting \"pin\" to underlying prices. As Goldman puts it, \"expiration-related activity is likely to have more of an impact if the open interest represents a significant percentage of the stock’s volume.\"Finally, for what it's worth, this morning our friends at SpotGamma write that this has been a rather strange OPEX cycle, \"with a consistent almost mechanical bid pushing markets higher. We’ve not seen the Call Wall “breached” this many times before, but there are other aberrations that we’ve mentioned in previous notes – like net put sales. We’ve got some theories on this we are posting in a longer form piece.\"According to SG, because implied volatility has now compressed (ie VIX at new lows) there is now more potential for “long term” volatility. Recall how as of late any sharp, violent drop in markets was bought so quickly (see chart below). These bursts lower coincided with record VIX spikes, but a reflective snap-back bid would bring a market recovery of equal force as the VIX (i.e. implied volatility) reversed. And one other curious observation from SpotGamma:When implied volatility is very high, its very sensitive to market moves and also signaling that markets are expecting more large moves ahead. Additionally, gamma is higher when IV is lower so gamma flips may have more juice.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{".DJI":0.9,".IXIC":0.9,".SPX":0.9,"SPY":0.9}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":209,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":370812363,"gmtCreate":1618571696952,"gmtModify":1634292013678,"author":{"id":"3574636578459826","authorId":"3574636578459826","name":"Noxology","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/07cf1424a0225887b39e13f3264de0b2","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574636578459826","authorIdStr":"3574636578459826"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yeah but NQ is not","listText":"Yeah but NQ is not","text":"Yeah but NQ is not","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/370812363","repostId":"1118328524","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":273,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":347936177,"gmtCreate":1618454878199,"gmtModify":1634292824300,"author":{"id":"3574636578459826","authorId":"3574636578459826","name":"Noxology","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/07cf1424a0225887b39e13f3264de0b2","crmLevel":7,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574636578459826","authorIdStr":"3574636578459826"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Wild day yesterday","listText":"Wild day yesterday","text":"Wild day yesterday","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/347936177","repostId":"1144903568","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1144903568","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1618454036,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1144903568?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-04-15 10:33","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Who Are Coinbase's Competitors?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1144903568","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) is one of the most highly anticipated IPOs the market has seen in some time. Li Auto seems responsible, catalyzing the drop byannouncingplans for a $750 convertible bond offering in what amounts to a capital raise.Convertible bonds, as their name suggests, convert into common stock under certain conditions, and investors don’t like to see their existing stakes diluted with new stock. It’s the reasonmost capital raisestend to drive stock prices down for a while.
\n
A convertible bond can generate some stock selling pressure in yet another way. Convertible arbitrage traders will sell the stock of the issuer short and buy the convertible bond. That way they can lock in a relatively attractive bond yield and take the stock risk, embedded in a convertible, out of their return equation.
\n
With Wednesday’s drop, NIO, XPeng, and Li stocks are down more than 20% on average this year. U.S. EV stocks aren’t doing so hot either.Lordstown Motors(RIDE) has tumbled 41% this year, whileWorkhorse Group(WKHS) has slumped 44%, andNikolahas dropped 19%. All three of those stock have had their own issues to deal with, such asnegative research reportsandcontract losses.
\n
And evenTesla(TSLA), which is down just 4.9% in 2021, has fallen 24% since peaking in January.
\n
EV investors havedealt with a lotalready in 2021. Higher interest rates, which make financing growth more expensive and reduce the value of future cash flows, hurt EV stocks. So has the chip shortage. infrastructu","content":"
Later this week, President Joe Biden is expected to unveil the details of a $3-trillion infrastructure package.
\n
While a great deal of early attention has been focused on new investments in cleantech solutions designed to address climate change, the package will also address the rebuilding of the nation's fraying transportation infrastructure including highways, bridges and rail lines.
\n
For investors who are considering the companies that will be active participants in the upgrades to physical infrastructure, here are four stocks that deserve an in-depth look.
\n
Caterpillar Inc.CAT 1.29%: It's safe to assume that the world's largest construction equipment manufacturer will have some type of involvement in any infrastructure endeavor.
\n
The company is in the right place at the right time. The U.S. manufacturing world is more than eager to move beyond the pandemic era, as witnessed in the Institute for Supply Management data from March 1 that found manufacturing activity in February on the rise, marking the ninth straight consecutive month of sector gains.
\n
Still, the economic residue from the pandemic needs to be considered. Caterpillar posted fourth-quarter revenue of $11.2 billion, a 15% decrease compared with $13.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2019.
\n
The quarter's profit per share of $1.42 was down from $1.97 one year earlier.
\n
Chairman and CEO Donald James Umpleby is optimistic on this year, declaring that the company has \"been making investments over the last few years in our digital capabilities, in many of our processes and our models, and we're going to work hard to leverage those connected assets and those investments that we've made to grow services going forward, and we think that represents just an excellent opportunity for future profitable growth over the next few years.\"
\n
Caterpillar closed Monday at $230.22, slightly under its 52-week high of $237.78 and distant from its 52-week low of $100.22.
\n
Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd.CP 1.5%: Many infrastructure projects will rely on rail transportation for material shipments, and Canadian Pacific is in a great way to move materials.
\n
On March 21, the company announced it was buyingKansas City SouthernKSU 1.54%in a $25-billion transaction that creates a combined rail network connecting points throughout Canada and Mexico and points in the Midwest, Northeast and South Central U.S. This is Canadian Pacific's second acquisition within a year. Last June, it completed its today completed acquisition of the Central Maine & Quebec Railway U.S. Inc.
\n
\"We delivered fourth quarter revenues of C$2 billion, which was an all-time quarterly record, operating ratio of 53.9%, and adjusted EPS growth of 6%. An industry leading performance for the year, total revenues were down only 1%. We produced an all-time record operating ratio of 57.1%, operating income was up 6% to C$3.3 billion, which enabled a record adjusted EPS of C$17.67, an increase of 7% versus last year, truly an outstanding achievement across the board,\" President and CEO Keith Creek said during the company's fourth-quarter earnings call in January.
\n
Canadian Pacific closed Monday at $364.25, closer to its 52-week high of $385.87 and distant from its 52-week low of $205.26.
\n
Nucor CorporationNUE 2.1%– This Charlotte, North Carolina-headquartered company holds the distinction of being the nation's largest steel producer, the largest \"mini-mill\" steelmaker and the largest scrap recycler. Any major infrastructure projects planned for the near-future will certainly have Nucor's involvement.
\n
To date, 2021 has been a very good year for Nucor. The stock has gained approximately 37% since New Year's Day, and on March 16 the company announced guidance for its first quarter ending April 3, with expected earnings in the range of $3 to $3.10 per diluted share, which would be the highest quarterly earnings in Nucor history.
\n
\"March is expected to be the strongest month of the quarter,\" the company said in a statement. \"Margins have expanded since the beginning of the year, a trend we expect to continue into the second quarter. We believe earnings in the second quarter of 2021 will likely set a new record for quarterly earnings.\"
\n
Nucor closed Monday at $78.75, closer to its 52-week high $82.76 and far from its 52-week low of $32.16.
\n
U.S. Concrete Inc.USCR 8.42%: What's an infrastructure project without concrete, and what is the concrete sector without this Texas-based firm? Last year, the company sold approximately 8.2 million cubic yards of ready-mixed concrete and approximately 12.6 million tons of aggregates.
\n
While the pandemic's tumult still resonated with U.S. Concrete — its fourth quarter revenue of $334 million was down 9.43% year-over-year, which missed the estimate of $352,880,000 — it nonetheless continued to show resilience.
\n
Its earnings per share increased 17.02% year-over-year to 55 cents, which beat the estimate of 26 cents.
\n
CEO Ronnie Pruitt predicted a strong second half in 2021 \"led by robust residential activity across all of our markets, complemented by heavy industrial commercial projects, including warehouses, data centers, and other commercial work that supports the development of new neighborhoods. Our key markets all expect strong and resilient activity for infrastructure, including freeways, roads and streets, either with or without the federal infrastructure bill.\"
\n
U.S. Concrete closed Monday at $66.36, closer to its 52-week high of $71.19 and far from its 52-week low of $13.66.
\n
","source":"lsy1606299360108","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; But","content":"
The S&P 500 (^GSPC) just had its best 12-month performance ever — up 80% as of the end of March. But the bull market may be entering a new phase as it turns two years old — an investing regime that requires a bit more defense.
\n
\"It's definitely hard to say that we're going to see 80% gains in the second year. But we think that it's even harder to say that the market is going to rally with the momentum it's had recently — for a few different reasons,\" says Callie Cox, senior investment strategist at Ally Invest, on Yahoo Finance Live.
\n
She explains that over the last three quarters, we've been in a \"low expectations\" market — one fueled by big earnings and economic beats. \"[R]eal earnings growth has beaten estimates by 10 percentage points because estimates were that low. And going into Q1, estimates are high again ... [W]e think investors could get a little confused as they see real earnings growth come in that's not quite as high compared to estimates... So it's really like a mind shift that we're dealing with,\" says Cox.
\n
This is not a reason to get bearish — only to tame expectations for the next year of returns. According to Ally Invest calculations, there have been nine times when the 12-month rolling return on the S&P 500 was 30% or more since 1950. According to Yahoo Finance calculations, these periods yielded a median gain of 34% and an average gain of 40%. In the year following these returns, all were positive (and no bull market has ever ended in year two, notes Cox). But the bull market may be entering a new phase as it turns two years old — an investing regime that requires a bit more defense.\n\"It's definitely hard to say that we're going to see 80% gains in the second year. But we think that it's even harder to say that the market is going to rally with the momentum it's had recently — for a few different reasons,\" says Callie Cox, senior investment strategist at Ally Invest, on Yahoo Finance Live.\nShe explains that over the last three quarters, we've been in a \"low expectations\" market — one fueled by big earnings and economic beats. \"[R]eal earnings growth has beaten estimates by 10 percentage points because estimates were that low. And going into Q1, estimates are high again ... [W]e think investors could get a little confused as they see real earnings growth come in that's not quite as high compared to estimates... So it's really like a mind shift that we're dealing with,\" says Cox.\nThis is not a reason to get bearish — only to tame expectations for the next year of returns. However, profits were more muted, with a median return of 11% and average return of 13%. The S&P 500 is already up 9.7% this year.\n\"[I]t's typical for the bull market to lose a little bit of steam going into year two.
