“Why is Tesla not mentioned in the e-aviation narrative?” A question was put forward by Morgan Stanley analyst, Adam Jonas. Jonas believes that Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) involvement in the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) markets is a matter of “not ‘if’ but ‘when’?”.
“The potential skills transferability and network adjacencies are too strong to ignore.” Jonas believes that Tesla is the “one company that is aggressively industrializing EVs, AVs, battery storage, connected car networks and EV infrastructure.” And that the reason the company is not mentioned in the e-aviation narrative is that Elon Musk hasn’t really talked about it.
Morgan Stanley ran a range of scenarios based on what entering the market could mean for Tesla. Morgan Stanley came up with potential preliminary outcomes on the order of $100 per Tesla share on the low-end to approximately $1,000 per Tesla share on the high end.
To our knowledge, Tesla has not commented on any potential aviation-related product or service and we are not aware of any specific electric aviation-related projects that the company is pursuing as of this writing.
