Both SEA and GRAB got no profit yet. If SEA can shoot to 370, why GRAB can't climb to 100?

He praised China’s crackdown on crypto and said he wished the technology “had never been invented.”
\n
One way to avoid both crypto and getting burned by an overvalued market is to look at companies with stock that has dropped but seems poised for a rebound.
\n
Here are three stocks with some bruises that fit that category. You might even be able to include some undervalued stocks in your portfolio with a little spare change.
\n
Walt Disney Co. (DIS)
\n
AFM Visuals/Shutterstock
\n
Disney’s stock got hammered in the pandemic’s early days, shedding about 38% of its value in the month ending March 20, 2020. After rallying for much of last year, it’s down almost 15% since the beginning of 2021. Disney’s earnings in the fiscal fourth quarter, which ended Oct. 2, came in about $200 million short of expectations. Its theme parks are still operating at reduced capacity, so Q4’s results could have been much worse.
\n
Streaming platform Disney+ is up to 118.1 million subscribers, and the company projects that figure will grow to more than 230 million by 2024. While the company says Disney+ subscriber growth slowed, revenue from subscriptions across Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu was $4.6 billion in Q4 — 38% higher than a year before.
\n
Disney remains a beloved global brand and says it expects international visitors to parks to pick up later in 2022 as restrictions ease. He praised China’s crackdown on crypto and said he wished the technology “had never been invented.”\nOne way to avoid both crypto and getting burned by an overvalued market is to look at companies with stock that has dropped but seems poised for a rebound.\nHere are three stocks with some bruises that fit that category. You might even be able to include some undervalued stocks in your portfolio with a little spare change.\nWalt Disney Co. (DIS)\nAFM Visuals/Shutterstock\nDisney’s stock got hammered in the pandemic’s early days, shedding about 38% of its value in the month ending March 20, 2020. After rallying for much of last year, it’s down almost 15% since the beginning of 2021. Disney’s earnings in the fiscal fourth quarter, which ended Oct. 2, came in about $200 million short of expectations. Its theme parks are still operating at reduced capacity, so Q4’s results could have been much worse.\nStreaming platform Disney+ is up to 118.1 million subscribers, and the company projects that figure will grow to more than 230 million by 2024. While the company says Disney+ subscriber growth slowed, revenue from subscriptions across Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu was $4.6 billion in Q4 — 38% higher than a year before.\nDisney remains a beloved global brand and says it expects international visitors to parks to pick up later in 2022 as restrictions ease. JPMorgan Chase predicts a full economic rebound from COVID-19 in 2022, and if that’s true, Disney’s theme parks could once again be packed.\nMastercard (MA)\ngarmoncheg/Shutterstock\nMastercard’s stock has been mostly trending downward since July, and it recently hit the skids, shrinking by 17% from Nov. 16 through Dec. 1. However, it’s trending upward over the last week or so, recovering most of that recent loss.\nThe sell-off of Mastercard’s stock doesn’t appear to have anything to do with the company’s performance. Q3 net revenue was $5 billion, a year-over-year increase of 30%. Purchase volume was up 23% over the same period.\nMastercard’s in a tricky position. Buy now, pay later apps are doing their best to disrupt the credit card space, and the company doesn’t currently seem to have an answer that will help increase the company’s cache with younger users.\nBut that could be more of a long-term issue. In the short-term, inflation-jacked prices mean customers are paying more, and a rebound in tourism and credit card spending should have the company’s users — there’s almost a billion of them — ringing up purchases left and right.\nAT&T (T)\nJonathan Weiss/Shutterstock\nAT&T’s stock has been on a downward tumble for a while now. Its share price is 45% lower than it was five years ago, and is down more than 22% this year alone.\nAT&T has taken some big swings that haven’t paid off. Last year, T-Mobile replaced AT&T as America’s second-largest wireless carrier.\nNone of that sounds particularly enticing, but the company knows changes need to be made. Big picture, AT&T continues to boast the scale advantages required to compete in the high-growth wireless space long term.\nIf your faith in the market is flagging …\nMartinLueke/Shutterstock\nWith elite investors like Charlie Munger, Michael Burry and Jeremy Grantham all saying the market is due for a correction, it might be worth looking into investments other than stocks.\nThere’s no shortage of unique alternative assets you can invest in that have little correlation with the stock market, including luxury vehicles, commercial real estate, blue-chip artworks or even marine finance.\nTraditionally, many alternative asset classes have only been available to millionaires because of the enormous costs involved. But the truth is that there are ample undervalued opportunities even in this hot segment.
\n
Let's look at three such hidden gems in the electric vehicle space.
\n
\n
Valuation of EV stocks
\n
Trying to understand the valuations of EV stocks has become challenging lately. Not all EV stocks are getting valued the same way. As an example, consider Nio. The company sold 66,395 vehicles in the first nine months of 2021. Yet, its market capitalization is less than that of Lucid Group and Rivian, both of which have sold far fewer vehicles so far.
\n
NIO Market Cap data by YCharts
\n
With not much of a sales history, the price-to-sales ratios of Lucid and Rivian stocks are not meaningful. Although Nio's price-to-sales ratio of nearly 10 looks high, it pales when compared to Tesla's ratio of around 24.
\n
NIO PS Ratio data by YCharts
\n
For sure, Tesla commands a higher ratio for being the EV pioneer, with a strong brand image and innovative offerings. However, the premium compared to Nio looks outsized.
\n
Talking more about differences in EV valuations, pure-play EV manufacturers -- that offer only EVs -- typically get valued higher compared to legacy automakers, which are now entering in the EV segment. This is likely based either on hype, or on the opinion that pure-play EV makers can offer better EVs than legacy automakers. Neither of the two seems like a valid reason to avoid legacy automakers with solid EV ambitions.
\n
Two such companies are BYD and Volkswagen. As the above graph shows, the stocks of both these companies trade at a much lower price-to-sales ratio than that of Tesla or even Nio. Whichever way you slice or dice it, Nio, BYD, and Volkswagen stocks look better valued than most of their EV peers.
\n
1. There is a lot to like about Nio
\n
Investors will find Nio attractive for more than one reason. To begin with, the company operates in a leading and fast-growing market. Of the 2.6 million EVs sold globally in the first half of 2021, roughly 1.1 million were sold in China alone. Furthermore, in the first half of 2021, the number of EVs sold in China was equal to that sold in the country in all of 2020.
\n
Nio reported strong vehicle deliveries for November. Except for October, when the company reported lower deliveries due to planned upgrading of its manufacturing lines, Nio's deliveries are largely on an upward trend.
\n
The company faces stiff competition from local players, including BYD,Xpeng, and Li Auto, as well as global EV companies including Tesla. Nio is doing well so far despite the competition. Moreover, it is planning to start deliveries of its new luxury sedan, the ET7, early next year. The new sedan has some of the best features and technology available and should further boost Nio's growth.
\n
2. BYD is gaining ground silently
\n
While investors are focused on upcoming EV stocks, established Chinese automaker BYD has made a place for itself in the EV segment. According toCleanTechnica, BYD controls the highest share, 17%, of China's EV market, including plug-in hybrids. That's higher than the 16% market share controlled by a joint venture between SAIC Motor,General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors. By comparison, Tesla holds roughly 11% share of China's EV market.
\n
In November, sales of BYD's EV models grew 153% year over year to 46,137 units. But the truth is that there are ample undervalued opportunities even in this hot segment.\nLet's look at three such hidden gems in the electric vehicle space.\nImage source: Getty Images.\nValuation of EV stocks\nTrying to understand the valuations of EV stocks has become challenging lately. Not all EV stocks are getting valued the same way. As an example, consider Nio. The company sold 66,395 vehicles in the first nine months of 2021. Yet, its market capitalization is less than that of Lucid Group and Rivian, both of which have sold far fewer vehicles so far.\nNIO Market Cap data by YCharts\nWith not much of a sales history, the price-to-sales ratios of Lucid and Rivian stocks are not meaningful. Although Nio's price-to-sales ratio of nearly 10 looks high, it pales when compared to Tesla's ratio of around 24.\nNIO PS Ratio data by YCharts\nFor sure, Tesla commands a higher ratio for being the EV pioneer, with a strong brand image and innovative offerings. However, the premium compared to Nio looks outsized.\nTalking more about differences in EV valuations, pure-play EV manufacturers -- that offer only EVs -- typically get valued higher compared to legacy automakers, which are now entering in the EV segment. This is likely based either on hype, or on the opinion that pure-play EV makers can offer better EVs than legacy automakers. Neither of the two seems like a valid reason to avoid legacy automakers with solid EV ambitions.\nTwo such companies are BYD and Volkswagen. As the above graph shows, the stocks of both these companies trade at a much lower price-to-sales ratio than that of Tesla or even Nio. Whichever way you slice or dice it, Nio, BYD, and Volkswagen stocks look better valued than most of their EV peers.\n1. There is a lot to like about Nio\nInvestors will find Nio attractive for more than one reason. To begin with, the company operates in a leading and fast-growing market. Of the 2.6 million EVs sold globally in the first half of 2021, roughly 1.1 million were sold in China alone. Furthermore, in the first half of 2021, the number of EVs sold in China was equal to that sold in the country in all of 2020.\nNio reported strong vehicle deliveries for November. Except for October, when the company reported lower deliveries due to planned upgrading of its manufacturing lines, Nio's deliveries are largely on an upward trend.\nThe company faces stiff competition from local players, including BYD,Xpeng, and Li Auto, as well as global EV companies including Tesla. Nio is doing well so far despite the competition. Moreover, it is planning to start deliveries of its new luxury sedan, the ET7, early next year. The new sedan has some of the best features and technology available and should further boost Nio's growth.\n2. BYD is gaining ground silently\nWhile investors are focused on upcoming EV stocks, established Chinese automaker BYD has made a place for itself in the EV segment. According toCleanTechnica, BYD controls the highest share, 17%, of China's EV market, including plug-in hybrids. That's higher than the 16% market share controlled by a joint venture between SAIC Motor,General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors. By comparison, Tesla holds roughly 11% share of China's EV market.\nIn November, sales of BYD's EV models grew 153% year over year to 46,137 units. Including plug-in hybrids, the company sold 90,121 units in the month.\nWith a trailing-12-months revenue of $30.2 billion, BYD operates in three main segments. In 2020, the company earned 53% of its revenue from auto and related products, 39% from mobile handset components and assembly, and the remaining 8% from rechargeable batteries and solar products. Geographically, the company derived 61% of its revenue from China.\nWith a high focus on EVs, these will likely form an increasingly higher portion of BYD's revenue mix in the coming years.\n3. Volkswagen has big EV ambitions\nEV investors would surely find value in top automaker Volkswagen. In the next few years, the company plans to invest 35 billion euros in electric mobility. It aims to increase its EV deliveries to 20% of its sales by 2025. By 2030, the company targets 60% of its sales in Europe to be EVs.\nIn the first nine months, Volkswagen delivered nearly 7 million vehicles globally. Of these, roughly 293,000 were fully electric. An additional 246,000 were plug-in hybrid vehicles. So, electric or hybrid vehicles accounted for around 7.8% of the company's deliveries. For perspective, Tesla delivered 627,572 vehicles in the first nine months of this year. So, even though EVs form a small percentage of Volkswagen's total vehicle deliveries, its absolute EV deliveries are huge and will continue to grow. Yesterday’s growth still has it in the green for the week by nearly 10%, but this morning’s drop off is still significant. It’s interesting to note that both its peers, DWAC and CFVI, are down by just shy of 8%, all hovering in the red close to the same number.
\n
The way it looks from here, there are multiple factors at play regarding PHUN stock’s declines. There’s clear market momentum at play that’s driving the stock down as its larger peers face downward trajectories. However, it’s also worth noting that Phunware has recently been in the news for other reasons. The company has been on a Bitcoin(CCC:BTC-USD) buying spree throughout recent weeks. Late November saw it purchase 398 Bitcoin for a cash price of approximately $23.8 million while the cryptocurrency was priced at $59,917 apiece.
\n
Today it was announced that the software producer was expanding its Bitcoin holdings even further. The company has acquired 100 Bitcoin for roughly $4.8 million in cash with the average price per coin of $49,750.
\n
Why It Matters
\n
Clearly, Phunware was employing the popular strategy of buying the dip. It didn’t do much for PHUN stock prices, though, which fell by 4% in premarket trading. AsInvestorPlace‘s David Moadel noted recently, “With Phunware, you’re investing in a business, not a coin.”
\n
Right now, it doesn’t seem like Phunware is a great business to invest in. The company’s ties to Trump stem from the fact that it provided software for his 2020 campaign. When DWAC began making headlines, investors began searching for the next stock to receive a “Trump bump,” and while PHUN stock did experience some gains amid the frenzy, they proved to be short lived.
\n
Since then, many experts have advised against buying Phunware on rumors alone.InvestorPlacecontributor Stavros Georgiadisadvised against investing in it as a speculation play. Additionally, many others have echoed these reservations, labeling it as a penny stock to sell before 2022. Fellow contributor Dana Blankenhorn recently advocated against bullish plays on PHUN stock, arguing that the Bitcoin holdings would not be enough to help a stock that rose mostly on pure speculation.
\n
What It Means
\n
When it comes to investments like PHUN stock, it’s easy to be drawn into flash-in-the-pan hype, particularly when they are linked to someone like Trump. Indeed, the former president’s consistent coverage is hard to ignore. However, investors should keep in mind that the buzz that often surrounds these companies is exactly that — hype. And it hasn’t been enough to drive any sustainable growth.
\n
Frankly, there’s no reason it should. The best thing that we can say about Phunware is that it has worked with Trump before. There’s no immediate reason to suspect that his next campaign will employ its services. And more importantly, the company has no direct ties to any of the more popular Trump stocks. PHUN stock should serve as a reminder that speculation alone is often not enough to justify a bullish play, especially for investors with a long-term mindset.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
PHUN Stock Cools Off Despite News the ‘Trump Trade’ Favorite Just Bought Bitcoin
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nPHUN Stock Cools Off Despite News the ‘Trump Trade’ Favorite Just Bought Bitcoin\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-10 11:11 GMT+8 InvestorPlace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Yesterday was a good day for “Trump trades,” as stocks linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump enjoyed significant gains.
