快科技10月23日消息,据报道,NVIDIA的H100 GPU即将在下个月展开一段“太空之旅”,AI公司Crusoe近日宣布,计划成为“首个在太空中运行工作负载的公共云运营商”。这次轨道部署的Crusoe Cloud服务将采用NVIDIA H100 GPU,并部署在战略伙伴Starcloud的AI数据中心卫星上。合作双方声称,这次部署的H100提供的AI计算能力,将比以往太空中存在的任何计算能力“强大100倍”。

目标是建立一个利用太空太阳能驱动的AI数据中心基础设施,在Starcloud所在的轨道上,太阳光线不受地球大气层的影响,因此可以享受到“几乎无限、低成本的可再生能源”。据估计,基于太空太阳能的数据中心,其能源成本(包括发射成本)相比地球上的数据中心可降低10倍。而且在太空中,可以部署大规模的太阳能电池板阵列,且无需考虑土地使用问题,同时运行这些系统也不会对地球能源造成压力。对于GPU散热这一关键问题,NVIDIA声称Starcloud
