Applethis weekendclosed more storesin response to surging Covid-19 cases in the U.S., Europe and Latin America.
An Apple (AAPL) spokesman confirmed that it has now closed all 54 of its stores in California, as well as the four Apple stores in Tennessee, two each in Mexico and Brazil and five stores in London. The spokesman noted that about a dozen other U.S. locations had already closed. That list includes including all three stores in Utah, all four in Minnesota, both stores in Oklahoma, and the one in Portland, Ore. That’s about 80 stores in total, although the spokesman said he does not have the specific number because the situation is “fluid.”
Late last week,Apple shut its stores in the Los Angeles area.
Apple has 508 retail stores worldwide, including 270 in the U.S.
“Due to current Covid-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas,” Apple said in a statement. “We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible.”
