Jay Ritter, a University of Florida business school professor who studies the IPO market, says just six Korean tech firms have gone public in the U.S. market, all from 1999 to 2006. That list actually includes Gmarket, an e-commerce company that went public in 2006 and was acquired by eBay for $1.2 billion in 2009. EBay has announced that it is seeking a buyer for its Korean business.
